Chapter14
Leo
I escorted Crystal into the cabin and when we got inside I was surprised and impressed when I saw the state of his home. Alfred has eggs that were under a small pit of fire. Alfred also has sketches of various dragons and I also noticed some odd-looking stones on the shelves along with some dragon body parts like skulls, scales and teeth. I looked at the eggs and must have a lot of them.
"Impressive aren't they?" Alfred asked as he got three cups ready for us.
"Where did you find these eggs? I thought they were all destroyed?" I asked as I looked at them.
"You'll need to ask Crystal that one, she's the one who found most of the eggs from abandoned nests and from old hordes where the dragons used to live."
I was impressed when he told me this. I looked at Crystal and she explained to me.
"When you're a dragon shifter, you're able to sense fellow dragons whether they're hatchlings or adults."
"You can still sense dragons like that?"
Crystal nodded her head with a smile which I thought was adorable.
"And now that you found them, you're trying to raise them?" I asked Alfred and he nodded his head.
"That's right, I know some people think I'm crazy and they're always telling me that dragons are dangerous but, that's all crazy talk."
Alfred told me as he poured tea for us after Crystal and I sat down.
"They used to be peaceful creatures back in the day. Always helping folk out. I used to have this fire dragon as a pet before I became a dragon slayer, his name was Flame. I called him that because of his red scales and he loved setting things on fire but, I managed to teach him to use his flames to keep the villagers and myself warm during the harsh winters."
I noticed Alfred looked like he was living a fond memory and I don't think he's lying when he explained this to me.
"But, those were the old days when things were peaceful and when the Dragons flew through the sky and they were not causing trouble for the people Cassina. That was until everything changed..." Alfred spoke sadly.
"Why? what happened?"
"King Scott changed everything," Alfred spoke with a frown and I think I heard Crystal growl angrily.
"Tell me what happened that day when Queen Karen was killed."
"Are you sure? because once Crystal and I tell you the truth about that day, you will start to doubt your loyalty to your King."
"Please tell me, the Dragon Priests know something about that day and King Scott refuses to tell me."
"All right, let me start from the beginning..."
Kassandra
I was in bed sleeping next to Drago until I felt him running his fingers on my cheek and through my hair. I groaned a little before turning back towards him.
"Kassandra...it's time to wake up," He whispered in my ear.
"No...let me sleep..." I whined as I covered my head with the blanket.
I heard Drago chuckle and then he pulled the blanket off me making me curl into a ball to keep myself warm.
"I said it's time to get up."
"Can I sleep for another few minutes?" I asked as I glanced at Drago's handsome face.
"No, we're supposed to be meeting Katrina today or did you forget?"
"I didn't forget, I just want to sleep a little bit longer."
I said as I covered my head with the pillow. I heard Drago snicker and then I felt his lips kissing my shoulders. I gasp a little and then I felt Drago's left arm wrap around my waist from behind and then I felt his hand on my chest and he gently squeezes it. I moved the pillow off my head and I watched his hands. Drago's left hand was on my chest while the other pulled up the bottom of my nightdress and then it rested on my thigh.
"*Moan* all right, all right! I'm up!!" I shouted as I got out of his grip.
I fixed my nightdress and I glared at him.
"What the heck is wrong with you?!"
"I needed to do something to wake you up," He spoke with a smirk on his face while resting his cheek on the palm of his hand.
"It's a shame I had to wake you up, I enjoyed watching you sleep."
I blushed a little when he said this. Drago took a lock of my hair and he sniffs it.
"As much as I like to stay in bed with you, but, we need to get ready to meet Katrina."
Drago took my hands and he pulled me out of bed. I sighed a little and then I got my dress for the day. Since I decided to stick around, the girls have been making dresses for me and Liz has become a close friend of mine. She has also taught me how to tie my hair into different styles since I don't have Annie to help me anymore but, I prefer to keep it in a simple ponytail since I wasn't going to meet any of my father's friends.
I was about to get changed until I heard Drago growling in satisfaction.
"Excuse me, do you mind?!" I shouted with a frown.
"Not all," He spoke with a smirk.
I frowned at him and then I used my wind magic to blow him out of the room. Drago's back crashed into the wall and he glared at me.
"Ow! what was that for?!" He shouted while rubbing the back of his head.
"There's something that's called 'privacy'! do me a favour and don't look!!" I yelled before using my earth spell to block the entrance.
"Hey! that's not fair!" I heard Drago shout while I got ready.
I snickered after hearing his reaction. I got changed into the black dress I wore before and I glanced at the necklace that Drago gave me. I smiled at it and then I tied my hair into a ponytail. I walked towards the boulder and then I clicked my fingers before it crumbled to pieces. Drago sat there with his legs crossed and he had an angry look on his face.
"Was it necessary to blow me out of the room?"
"I had to, I wasn't going to let you watch me while I was getting changed."
"You didn't seem to have a problem when we were in the-" I covered his mouth and I whispered shouted.
"DON'T mention that out loud again! I'm trying to keep my dignity in check! I may not be in Cassina right now but, I'm still the Princess! understand?!"
Drago nodded his head and then I uncovered his mouth before he stood up.
"Come on, we'll get something to eat on the way there."
I nodded my head and then Drago turned into his Dragon form. He lowered himself so I can climb onto his back. Drago stood up and then he walked out of the cave. Once we were outside, Midnight, Sparx and their mates were waiting for us.
"Have a safe trip Princess, here, I packed some food for you in case you two get hungry," Liz told me as she gave me a satchel.
"Thank you, Liz," I spoke with a smile.
"Lord Drago, are you sure you don't need us to escort you?"
"I'll be fine besides, it's Kassandra she wants to see," Drago spoke through the mind link.
"All right then, good luck and Kassandra, be careful around Serana."
"I'll, uh, keep that mind."
I spoke nervously before Drago glanced at me.
"Hang on tight Kassandra."
I nodded my head before I held onto Drago's spikes and then we took off into the sky. Drago flew above the clouds and I smiled when I saw the view before I thinking to myself.
'I couldn't believe it was only yesterday I was in Cassina, walking through the castle halls going about my duties as the Princess. I never thought I'd see myself sitting on the back of the dragon flying through the clouds and who is also my mate.'
I smiled to myself while drawing circles on Drago's scales. I think I heard him growl in satisfaction when I touched his scales. Drago flew below the clouds and we were flying above the forbidden forest.
"Why are we back here?"
"Because this is where Katrina lives, however, I should warn you, she can be a bit scary when she sees intruders."
"Why?"
"Before Karen married the King, she and Katrina were on the run from witch hunters. The forbidden forest is like a safe haven for her and she's the one who helped the coven to create this fog to keep the enemies out of here.
Drago hovered in the air for a moment and I asked him.
"What's wrong?"
"I'm trying to find a place to land, ah-ha! there's a spot!"
Drago flew towards the area and then he lands onto the ground. I got off his back and my legs felt a bit wobbly for a moment.
"Are you okay?"
"I'm fine, I just need to get used to sitting on your back and flying through the sky."
I told him after regaining my balance. I looked at the area where we've landed and that's when I recognized it. I noticed the rocks with the strange symbols and they were glowing purple. I ran my fingers over them and then I recalled the dream I had before.
'I've seen this place...so it was another vision I saw!'
I looked to the side and I knew that shadowy figure was going to emerge from the fog. Drago shifted back into his human form and he said to me.
"Let's get going."
I nodded my head and then we started walking while following the glowing rocks with the mysterious symbols. I looked around and then I asked Drago.
"Drago...why does Katrina live out here and not with her coven?"
"I don't know, I think she's one of those lone wolf types."
I understood what he meant. Suddenly, a bright light appeared around Drago and he fell onto the ground.
"Drago!" I shouted in a shocked tone before rushing over to him. "Are you all right?"
"Damn, she's placed a barrier."
"A barrier?!"
I looked up and then I approached the area again and this time I raised my hand and then ripples appeared in the air. I pulled my hand back and then Drago told me.
"It seems you're the only one who is able to pass through the barrier. Looks like you're on your own from here."
"What? why?"
"This barrier is preventing me from getting anywhere near Katrina. Don't worry, she won't hurt you, I promise."
I took a deep breath and I told him.
"All right, I'll be back as fast as I can."
"I'm not going anywhere and I won't lose you again as long as you're wearing the stone."
I placed my hand on the necklace and I nodded my head. I slowly walked a few steps before I slowly stepped through the barrier. Once I was through, the fog started to clear a little before I heard a faint whisper.
"Kassandra...come...follow the path..."
I looked straight ahead and then purple lights appeared making a path for me to follow and at the end of this path will be the answers that I've been waiting for.
