Chapter26
Kassandra
I couldn't believe it at first but, the green dragon that Drago, my possessive and overprotective mate, was fighting my best friend Zen. I thought he was killed after I had my memories erased but, thank goodness he's all right and alive. Zen hugs me tightly and then we pulled away from each other before I ruffled his dark green hair.
"Boy, you sure are not the little Dragon I remember now, are you?"
"Hahaha! you can say that again," Zen spoke with a proud smirk on his face as he showed off his muscles.
I laughed at his goofiness and I said to him.
"Good grief, your looks may have changed but that goofy personality hasn't."
"I know but, I do have a serious face too, look," Zen gave me his best serious but, I couldn't help but laugh.
"Stop it, your serious face is making me laugh."
"Aw man, during a mission I always have that serious face and for some reason it makes my best friend laugh. What am I doing wrong?"
I giggled at his comment and then Drago cleared his throat to get our attention but, he had a furious look on his face.
"Kassandra, care to explain how you and this dragon know each other?"
"Of course. Drago, I'd like you to meet Zen, he's my best friend. Zen, you've already Drago, who is the leader of the horde and of course, my mate."
"Mate?! since when were you mated to a Dragon Lord?!" Zen asked in a shocked tone.
"Since I got kidnapped by the Dragon priests and of course when this one brought me here."
"I see, so your wish to find the one you love with the help Dragon Priests that you once spoke about finally came true huh?" Zen asked in a teasing tone.
I chuckled nervously when he said this and then Drago asked him.
"Wait, what? Kassandra asked one of the dragon priests to find her mate?"
"It was a long time ago and besides I must have been joking at the time," I told Drago with a hint of blush on my cheeks.
"Joking? says the woman who thought arranged marriages were ridiculous and who was desperate for someone to fall for you. Why else did you ask Shay to help you find your soul mate?"
I blushed bright red when he said this and then I looked away from him while Drago chuckled.
"Is that true?" He asked with a smirk.
"No, it's not! uh, well, I mean, yes it was but, I was only a little girl back then!"
Drago chuckled again when I said this and then he asked Zen.
"It seems I misjudged you, Zen. Is there anything else that Kassandra did as a child?"
"Apologize to me first and then I might consider it."
Drago loses that smirk when he said this while I chuckled at his comment.
"Blackmail! nice one Zen!" I spoke with a grin.
"You taught him that?!"
"Maybe."
I spoke with a smirk and then Drago sighed in defeat.
"Fine, I apologize. But, can you blame me? after what my mate has been through I've been a little bit protective than usual."
"Excuse me! Protective?! more like possessive!"
Drago chuckled and he gave me an innocent look that said 'I don't know what you're talking about.' I looked at Zen and I asked him.
"Anyway, before you go spreading any more silly stories about me as a child, I want to ask you a few things."
"What is it?"
"Like how on earth did you find me and how did you know I was here?"
"It's a long story and you are not going to believe what I am about to tell you."
We sat down on some nearby rocks and Zen began to explain to me.
"I'll get straight to the point, Lord Zonar is alive."
My eyes widen in shock and there were a few murmurs from the others. Aunt Katrina was just as shocked as I was and I asked her.
"Did you know about this?"
"No, but at least that explains why that dragon we saw in the vision looked so familiar. I can't believe I didn't realize this sooner."
I looked away from her and I smiled a little.
"So, Zonar...my birth father... is alive? I can't believe it! but, how is this possible?" I asked Zen and he told me.
"From what Lord Zonar told me, your mother was the one who saved him. When he was at death's door, Queen Karen gave her power to Lord Zonar so he can live."
I was shocked by this and then I smiled afterwards.
"However, before you can start jumping for joy, there's something else I need to tell you."
I stopped smiling when Zen had a serious look on his face and this time, I didn't laugh.
"Lord Zonar is being held captive in Cassina and to make matters worse, King Scott has got not only dragonslayers but, he's also got the Dark Sorceress Zara is with him too."
I was shocked and angry when he told me this. Drago growled in response and then Aunt Katrina spoke up.
"That Dark sorceress is with him?! Why the hell is she back now? What is she after this time?!"
"As far as I know, she only came back after finding out the spell on Kass has been lifted. King Scott is still determined to get you back and when he does, well, it doesn't take a genius to work out what he plans to do once he gets you back."
"Zara plans to mess with my mate's mind again," Drago spoke with a frown.
"And when that happens, Kassandra will forget about us again and Scott will make sure that she won't ever find out the truth again.
"Yes, I'm afraid so," Zen told us.
"I didn't realize the situation was bad. On top of my father being held captive and being used against us-"
"And with Zara and the Dragon slayers in the mix, there's a chance they'll have the advantage."
Aunt Katrina finishes my sentence. Everyone looked worried and they started mumbling about what we were going to do and how we were going to win.
"Calm yourselves, there's a reason why I came here to see Kassandra," Zen told us before we looked at him.
"Kassandra, when we were kids, you once told me that you felt different and you felt that mysterious connection with Lord Zonar until now."
"Yes, I remember. But, all I know is that I'm his daughter, what has that got to do with the situation?"
"It's because you're stronger than you think."
"I am?" I asked in a surprised tone.
"What makes you say that?" Sparx asked him.
"Think about it, Kass' mother is a sorceress and her father is a Dragon shifter and what does that make Kass?"
The others thought for a moment and then Drago spoke up.
"She's a Dragon sorceress?"
"In other words, a hybrid yes."
I was surprised when Zen told me this and then Aunt Katrina spoke up.
"Of course, it all makes sense now. No wonder Kassandra's powers were stronger than mine and Karen's. It's because not only does she have the abilities of a sorceress but, she's also got the power of a Dragon running through her veins."
"I do?" I asked in a surprised tone before looking at the palms of my hands.
"Huh...I guess that does explain a few things including my mysterious connection with Zonar and the other dragons."
Zen nodded his head in agreement and he then explained to me.
"There's a reason why I'm telling you this, it's because Lord Zonar wants you to awaken the dragon spirit that's currently sleeping inside of you."
"My Dragon spirit?"
"Yes, every dragon shifter has his and her own Dragon spirit which also helps them to transform into their dragon forms. With Zara back on the scene, there's a chance she will use that same spell on you again but, if you awaken your dragon spirit-"
"My powers will get stronger and the dark sorceress' spells will be useless since they can't work on a dragon's light magic. Kydre told me this when he broke Zara's spell on me."
Zen smirked when I told him this until I realized something.
"Wait a minute, if dark magic spells don't have an effect on a Dragon then how come you were effect by it when Zara paralyzed us before I fell into a 10-year-old spell?"
"*Chuckles nervously* that's because I wasn't a strong dragon back then, I was still considered a weak hatchling back then and because of I didn't have the abilities that the adult dragons have, Zara's powers overpowered mine."
"Oh, I guess that makes sense."
I mumbled before Leo spoke up.
"Hold on, if Kassandra is half-dragon, then how do you intend to awaken this spirit that's sleeping inside of her?"
"There's a sacred place where half breeds like Kassandra and other dragons who struggle to awaken their true dragon forms go to. It's the Dragon soul pool."
I was surprised when Zen said this because I have heard about that pool from before but, Zonar told me it was only a myth.
"I have heard about that pool but, Zonar told me it was only a myth, how did it become the horde's sacred place?"
"We only told the humans that the pool was a myth because we knew they would try and use its power against us or in the Dragonslayers' case they wanted to destroy it."
"But, Zonar wants me to go there to awaken my powers doesn't he?"
Zen nodded his head and then I looked at Drago and he didn't like the sound of this.
"I don't think that's a good idea, the pool of Dragon souls could destroy her, never mind awaken the dragon spirit that's sleeping inside of her."
"We've got no choice. Zonar knew that someday that she was going to get stronger."
"Zen's right Drago, you can't ignore fate or destiny," Aunt Katrina told him with a frown.
Drago looked between me and Zen and then he helps me onto my feet.
"I'll let you go but, on one condition. I'll go along with you and make sure Zen protects you until you get back here."
"All right, sounds like a plan," I spoke with a smile.
"We better get going before they get here."
Zen told us before he shifted into his dragon form. I climbed onto his back and then Drago shifted into his dragon and he followed after us.
"Good luck, Kassandra and be careful!" Aunt Serana shouted as we flew away from the mountain and heading for Dragon soul pool.
