Chapter22
King Scott
I couldn't believe it, the dragon that was supposed to be dead by my hand is alive?! how is this possible?! I thought I killed him after I found out the truth about him, Karen and their daughter Kassandra.
"But, how?! how can you still be alive?! I stabbed you through the chest!"
"You should thank Karen for that...it's because of her I'm still alive."
"What?"
Zonar smirked at me and he said to me.
"It's true that if one mate dies the other follows, however, depending who the Dragon's mate is, there's always a second chance for us. Basically, Karen couldn't go on living knowing that the horde needs their leader so, she gave me the last of her power to let me live."
I frowned angrily and then Zara told me.
"I guess it's true about the sorceresses these days, they are willing to give up their powers to let the one they love to live a longer life."
"Why did you bring him here?! do you realize what will happen if anyone finds out that Zonar, the dragon that I killed, is still alive?!"
"Don't worry, Zonar knows he needs to co-operate if he wants to see his beloved daughter again."
Zonar frowned when Zara said this and then I said to her.
"You threatened him and brought him here because?"
"Because Zonar is going to help us to get to Drago's mountain. He knows where it is because he's been there before, haven't you?"
"I...have..."
Zonar with a hint of regret in his voice. Zara smirked and she said to me.
"When I told Zonar what happened to his daughter, he was willing to break free and see her again but, I wouldn't let him. However, if he helps us, we will allow him to see her again before you take her back."
I smirked at this idea and I knelt to his height.
"How does it feel to be locked in chains?"
"..."
"Heh, oh how the mighty have fallen. I'm looking forward to this."
"Even if it means I get to see Kassandra again then...I hope it's worth it..."
I chuckled when he said this and then I said to her.
"Zara, get everything ready, we're going to Drago's mountain at once."
"Yes my Lord."
We left the dungeons to get ready to leave.
Zonar
Once the others have gone, the dragon slayers locked the door except for one.
"Did anyone else see you?"
"No, they don't know that I'm working for you."
Zen, who was once Kassandra's best friend, removed his mask and he whispered.
"I just heard from Shay, he said that Kassandra is mated to Drago. He knows that he will protect her with his life and that's not all, I have also heard that she's finally regained her memories."
I smiled happily when Zen told me this and mumbled.
"Thank goodness..."
I looked at Zen and I told him.
"Thanks for telling me this, now get out of here before someone finds out who you are."
Zen nodded his head before putting his disguise back on and leaving the cell.
'Kassandra, after all this time, I will see you again. Now I know why you brought me back from the dead, Karen.'
I thought to myself as I pictured my mate's smiling face.
Leo
We got to the village that Alfred mentioned and their leader, Shay, told us where Kassandra is. How did he know this? well, it's a mystery but apparently, he received a message from his ancestors. While I waited for Alfred to finish his conversation with Shay, Crystal stayed beside me and she was looking at some of the accessories for sale. Crystal picked up a blue shiny stone and she seems to like it.
"You like that?"
Crystal nodded her head and then I bought the necklace for her.
"Stay still," I told her before placing the necklace around her neck.
Crystal smiled when I put the necklace on for her and she held the blue shiny stone in her hand.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome."
Just then, Alfred and Shay, the leader of the priests came over to us and then he smiled at me and Crystal.
"Well, well, looks like we've got ourselves another mated couple."
I looked at Shay with a surprised expression on my face.
"What?!"
"Now that I think about it, Crystal has been acting a bit differently since Leo showed up," Alfred commented.
"I think I know why. Your little friend has found her mate."
Shay told me with a smirk on his face. Crystal's eyes lit up and then she hugs me tightly. I blushed when she did this and then Alfred chuckled.
"Not used to the attention are you, Commander?"
"N-Not really, no."
I told him while scratching the back of my head while blushing a little.
"Snicker* looks like someone is a little shy."
"Shut up!" I shouted at Alfred.
Crystal giggled and I thought that sounded cute just now. Oh man, what the hell is the matter with me?!
"Anyway, after that revelation, we should get going."
"Oh right! yeah, we should!"
I told him as I snapped out of my thoughts before Crystal shifted into her dragon form. We got onto her back and then we flew off into the sky.
Kassandra
I was sleeping in bed with my mate lying next to me with his arm wrapped around my shoulders while I slept on top of his chest. However, my moment of peace didn't last when another vision came to me.
Dreamworld...
I opened my eyes and I found myself in the forbidden forest again except the fog that was heavy has now disappeared. I looked around and I wondered what was going on until I heard a dragon roaring.
"Is that Drago?" I asked myself.
However, that roar didn't belong to Drago. As I tried to figure out who made that sound, I began to hear loud footsteps and that made me think of soldiers. I turned around and I saw soldiers marching through the woods and I realized these soldiers are from Cassina.
"Cassina's soldiers?! what are they doing here?!" I asked in a shocked tone.
Suddenly, two large shadows appeared and when I looked up, I saw Drago fighting another dragon and for some reason, he looked strangely familiar. I watched the two dragons fight each other and then I heard someone shout.
"Kill them! kill every single dragon on this godforsaken mountain! I don't care how you do it just kill them all until not a single one of them still stands!!"
King Scott shouted as he led his army into battle as the other dragons and a coven fought alongside them including myself and Aunt Katrina.
I couldn't believe what I was witnessing, it was a raid and I couldn't tell who was winning or losing. Suddenly, I spotted a woman with black robes who was standing next to King Scott and I recognized her.
"Zara...?"
I mumbled before she slowly raised her head revealing her face and a few strands of her red hair.
"Very soon, all of the dragons in the world will die out."
Dream ends...
I shot my eyes open and I sat up quickly. I panted heavily and I looked around to make sure that I was no longer dreaming and I was back in the treasure room. I looked at Drago who was still asleep.
"Drago! Drago wake up!" I shouted in a panicked tone while shaking him.
"Huh! what! what's wrong Kassandra?!" Drago shouted as he sat up and he looked around while glaring around the room.
"Is someone attacking us?!"
I held Drago's face in my hands and I took a good look at him. I ran my hands over his face and chest to make sure that there was no mark on him.
"Kassandra? what's the matter?"
I sighed in relief and I pressed my forehead against his chest.
"Oh, thank goodness...it was only a dream..."
"You woke me up because you had a dream?"
"It wasn't just a dream..." I told him before looking at Drago's face.
"Drago, that dream may have been a vision and it's not good. I think King Scott is going to declare war on your mountain and he intends to get rid of you and all of the dragons who live here."
