Chapter 34
DARIEL'S POV:-
I was getting ready for work in the morning. Holding my hand out of Saafia who moved behind and helped me wear my waistcoat. I couldn't help but to scrutinize her form, small compared to mine.
Popping to the front, she was closing the buttons as I was staring at her as usual, wanting to rake my fingers in her hair.
How would it feel?
'Mister Cannedy." She called after buttoning my waistcoat.
'Yes, Missus Cannedy?"
Smirking, I slid my finger under her chin and lifted it so she could see the way I was looking directly into her soul.
She tilted her head in confusion to which I shrugged my shoulders monotonously.
'When you are not calling my name then why would I?"
She smiled faintly, shaking her head and went to take my coat, helping me wear it and not understanding what was happening to me, I was forced to link my gaze with her innocent ones.
Why do my gazes always stop at you?
'Anyways, listen," She called, leaving me and leaning against the wall while watching me get ready.
'Hmm?"
'I.. uh.. Don't take it wrongly like you always do."
I was about to comb my hair behind perfectly but stopped when she became hesitantly.
'What happened?" I asked in a softer tone.
'You know Sam is too… friendly." She began to say vaguely, looking away.
'Yeah, I noticed it too. What about him?" I nodded, setting my hairs and applying my cologne.
'He was getting too comfortable and I don't want you to place blame on me for inviting him or anything stupid like this. Tell him to stay in his limits with me. I don't like overly friendly people." She explained with a frown.
I glanced at her for a second. I had known Sam for two years, he hadn't done anything with Veronica then what ghost possessed him with her?
'Why would my sister's partner be interested in talking with you in the first place? What do you have, woman? You are not even talkative." I muttered, almost baffled to wonder what he wanted from her.
Her lips parted with a tempting yet amused look, placing her hand on her waist as she pointed her finger at me playfully.
'If I have nothing then why do you stare at me, Mister?"
My jaw dropped, thinking of a reply to shut her but nothing came out. Having no retort, I smirked.
'How dare you use my actions against me."
'Are you going to tell him to stay away or not?" She giggled, coming closer and setting my collar.
A smile always suited her, from when I used to at the party, to Jared's wedding then with Jacey and now.. With me.
It always locked my heart. What power did it have?
'Why should I? You have a tongue, no?" I teased, poking her forehead with my finger, pulling her back.
I took my things to leave. She kept staring at me in disbelief but soon relaxed, curling her hands in a fist with an enunciation.
'You… exasperate me."
I smirked and pinched her cheeks, causing those soft cheek blush like always.
'I know." I winked along with a tempting tone and left, leaving my wife stunned and a blushing mess.
Shaking my head, I came down and saw Sam, he was over the phone. Saafia's words came to me and to avoid future disputes, I called him sternly.
'Sam!"
Cutting the call, he turned to me, 'What is it, Dariel?"
'Come here. I need to talk to you. Get in the car, let's take a round." I ordered, motioning him with one finger to follow.
'Oh, okay."
Shrugging his shoulders, he didn't think deeply and sat with me as we left.
We were in the car and he started speaking, 'Look, if you want to warn me to keep Jacey happy then don't worry, I will take great care of her."
'Yeah, I know you have been in a relationship with her for two years. I don't want to talk about it." I sighed.
'Then what is it?"
Tightening my grip on the steering wheel, I took a turn, distressing him to think what I wanted to talk about.
'Listen, Sam, you are going to be my Brother-in-law. And to avoid future troubles, I am telling you now bluntly."
Taking a pause, I glared at him, giving a serious warning.
'Stay away from Saafia."
Confusion came to his face as if he couldn't apprehend what I spoke.
'What? What did I do? Did I say or do something wrong?"
'I am just warning you." I sighed, pinching the bridge of my nose, not in the mood of going into in-depth details.
'Wow. You are just as she said." He chuckled.
'What did she say?" I raised an eyebrow, intrigued to know.
'She held my hand and told me to not tell you, she said you are over possessive and would hurt her too. I thought she was kidding, you are surely crazy for her. Do you love her that much?"
My jaw clenched when he spoke thoughtlessly, pissing me off. An unknown needle piercing my chest- which I didn't know existed but I remained stoic.
'You don't have to think about our personal relationship. Only keep what I am telling in mind. Even if she comes near you, you go away. Is that understood?" I warned him with a low growl, stopping outside our place.
'Yes." He nodded worriedly.
'Good. Here we are. Go. I need to leave for work now." I muttered, gesturing to him to leave.
'Okay. Have a nice day, Sir."
Clearing his throat, he quickly left, intimidated by me like always. Shaking my head to release unwanted thoughts, I went to work with a scowl lingering on my face.
Enraged at her for doing what I refrained from doing, always testing my patience and then I became the bad guy in the end for getting angry!
How dare she talk behind my back to my Brother-in-law?
