Chapter 45
Letting out a tear, she held her hand out to me, grabbed my shirt and pulled me to her. Licking my lips, I cupped her cheeks, not blocking the eye-contact.
The obsessive side of mine I never wanted her to witness was emerging and there was nothing I could do to stop it.
'I won't let you go. Not now, nor ever, you hear me? What are you going to do about it? Leave me how Veronica did?!"
Growling, I lifted her to incline our heads as my lips were a few centimeters after hers.
'I won't…"
She released a soft tone, tears glistening in her eyes… holding compassion for a man like me?
'Yes, you will…"
Bringing her hand slowly, she placed it on my shoulder to stand properly, not removing her watery eyes from me.
'Why don't you get it? I won't leave you." She spoke in a tender resonance, shifting her hand gradually to my neck but I held her wrist.
It has to be a lie. She was lying.
'You will leave me like my Mother did! Like Veronica, Jacey, like my Father did! They all say they will stay but they never did! You are just like them!"
Scowling, I unwillingly ripped us apart. Any picture of us being one was unfathomable for me. I couldn't imagine us together, even if I wanted to.
Why would she willingly stay with her complete opposite?
It was impossible.
'No, I am not like them. You don't realize what you are saying yourself. So stop this obstinacy!" She argued.
Hitting my chest at my denial, making me fall on the bed and her phone rang. I ignored it and grabbed her wrist, pulling her towards me.
'Yes, you are. You said so yourself that Veronica did the right thing by leaving me. You will follow her steps too but I won't let you."
Shaking my head in denial, I didn't realize I pulled her to my laps and held her waist as my other hand secured around her locks.
'You are finally mine after all." Shit.
My jaw clenched, a hint of possessiveness flashed and I didn't stop myself either. Let her watch this and embed it to her core.
To let her know.
'Not this time. I won't let you leave me alone in this nightmarish place." I growled, curling my lips in a dark smirk, closing all my distance with her.
Gulping hesitantly, she shivered slightly while making my heart pound only by placing her palm over it to balance herself.
'Dariel? What are you saying?" She asked in a gentle murmur, narrowing her eyes.
'Do you hear me? Never."
'Never…?"
'Never!" I whisper-yelled desperately.
My heart moved in her sync, the sound of my pants filling the absence of sound in the room. She listened to me quietly, tightening her grip over my shirt.
'What if I tried to leave?"
'I won't let you. Not you too."
My throat dried to find her extremely close to me. She was no longer frightened, rolling her tongue over her lips. Observing me which tempted me.
'Really?"
'Test me."
My grip tightened over her hair, almost bringing her to my lips. Her breaths stopped, giving a look of affection I never expected to receive from her.
We almost closed our eyes, reducing the gap to collide our lips. My heart was on the verge of leaping out of my chest. I pressed her hand harder over my heart.
'Saafia…" I called her weakly. She made me like this.
'Dariel…" She called in the same tone. Did I make her weak too?
‘Were you feeling the same as me?' Opening my eyes to stare at her beautiful face, hair over her head, eyes closed with a… smile.
How exquisite.
Curling my lips upwards as well, I was about to move further but her fucking phone rang again.
'Ah!"
She gasped, realizing her position and pulled away quickly from me. I was about to extend my hand to bring her back but she pulled away.
‘Was I that unwanted that the second you regained senses, you pulled back?' I thought, curling my hand in a fist and pulling it back.
Outraged at the call, I slammed my hand down, cursing this phone for breaking my moment.
Again!
'Goddammit. Who is it?! Pick it up!" I scolded Saafia, growling at her.
'Okay, okay. What is your problem?" I hissed, rolling her eyes and picking her phone.
Drinking some water, I rubbed my eyes, regaining my senses, realizing what the hell I ended up doing.
'Hello?" She attended the call.
I glanced from my shoulder. She was growling while glaring at me. Obviously waiting for an answer I didn't have.
Forming my lips in a thin line, I pushed my hair behind, recalling what I did. Mentally preparing myself for her outburst at least.
‘God, what have I done?' I thought, swallowing hard and turned to her but she looked worried.
'Sarah..? What happened? Why are you crying?"
Our expressions changed quickly when she said that. Perplexed, I came by her side as well.
'What happened?" I asked in a lower tone.
'I don't know. She is not saying anything, she is crying only." She whispered, distress coming to her face.
'Is she okay?" I asked again.
Not knowing since when my heart was pinched to find her troubled.
'I have no idea. Say something, dammit! Stop making us worried too!" She yelled over the phone and stood next to Saafia, even though I could hear her crying. She shouted something which I failed to capture.
But, it horrified Saafia.
'W-What…?"
Her eyes widened, the phone fell from her hand, worrying me. She was about to fall on the ground but I held her arm and made her sit on the bed.
'Saafia…?"
Perturbed, I held her close, tensed to wonder what happened as she turned pale in a mere instant. Shaking violently, she turned to me, holding my collar with tears coming to her eyes.
'D-Dariel… Dariel, Father… he.."
She tried to speak weakly and I got an idea what could have happened. Swallowing hard, I kept her close to my chest, losing my breaths as I had no idea how to console someone.
'What happened to him?" I asked, knowing what could have happened.
She was mentally prepared for it, she won't be devastated, right? She wouldn't be…
'He is.. No more…"
And before I could react or embrace her to comfort her, the grief overwhelmed her heart and she fainted in my arms.
