Chapter 79
DARIEL'S POV:-
Who knew my life would become this mesmerizing after meeting you?
After my meeting, resting my elbow on the table, a never ending smile was lingering on my lips, drowned in the in-depth feeling I hold for my wife.
'You sure are smiling." Ian pointed out, chuckling when he placed the files on the table.
'Because I am happy. More than you could imagine."
I chuckled too, failing to keep this glee inside me. I wanted to scream to this world that I had finally greeted my beloved.
I Knew that I had found the point I was longing for all my life.
'May you always remain like this. You barely had any endearing moments in your life, you deserve all the happiness." He blessed me sincerely.
I smirked, teasing him, 'You sure are sounding like a Father."
'I basically watch you grow up. Of course I care for you. You have done so much for your family now you deserve to live the life you always wanted." He smirked back and no doubt.
Amid all my phases of life, he was with me to provide guidance. He was my mentor who never left me when this world did.
'Never thought my life would take such a beautiful turn, Ian."
Exhaling, I looked up at him, flashing him a smile so he could know that after countless nightmares and difficult times- my time to rest had finally arrived.
'I can't express how delighted I am. Saafia's presence has become my destination, I don't want to imagine my future without her anymore."
He listened in astonishment, noticing how blind I was becoming yet decided to not stop myself too. I loved whatever was happening to me.
'Seems like you have fallen in love deeply."
Placing my hand over my heart, I curled my lips in a sincere smile, sensing how felicity was brimming enormously inside me as I responded earnestly.
'Yes, I have."
Shaking my head, I decided to focus on work for now. I have my whole life to mesmerize about my exquisite wife anyway, I should be working.
With an endless smile, I worked and after a tiresome day, all my tension vanished when I bought some flowers for Saafia on my way back home.
As my mind was only wrapped around her thoughts with a smile on my lips, she actually called, widening my smile.
Picking her call immediately, I heard her complaining over the phone, 'Hey, Where are you? When will you be home?"
'Why? Are you missing me that much?" I flirted, checking the way to see how long it might take to return.
'Well, yes but also, someone has come. He is saying he is your cousin." She sighed, not sounding delighted.
'My cousin? I have many cousins. Which one?" I hummed, not sure which relative of mine decided to visit me without informing.
And then she told me the name of the person I last wanted to see.
'I haven't seen him at our marriage. I don't know him. He says his name is Helder."
'Oh."
My glee was vanquished at the mention of his name. He was out of our lives for years, I wonder why what caused him to return after what his Father did to us.
'Who is he? I have never heard of him." She asked nonchalantly while I was not comfortable talking about them.
'He is the son of my Uncle Harry. My father's brother." I sighed, pinching the bridge of my nose, twirling the flowers around my fingers.
'The one you were telling me about?"
'Mhm."
'What? What am I supposed to do? I don't want to talk with the person you have bad connections with." She asked angrily.
I never liked him, though it was his Father who damaged us but he always held a scary aura around him. I am almost twenty-nine now while he must be thirty.
'Hold on. I am almost home." I sighed, not interested in him at all.
'Okay."
After cutting the call, I took a deep breath and returned home while pondering what made him return. I was having bad omens about his arrival yet bearing with these thoughts, I entered.
'Hey, welcome home." Saafia came, giving me a side hug which melted my heart instantly.
'Hey. Where is he?" I smiled, kissing the top of her head.
'In the guest room for now." She smiled.
'Here. I got it for the angel who lives in my house." I winked, offering her the flowers I got for her.
She shyly took them, taking a long inhale, 'You know what, Dariel? I was having a feeling you will bring flowers for me." She spoke melodiously.
'Well, you know me too well." I chuckled, giving her a side hug, receiving heartwarming feelings to have her near me.
'My, my, what a sight to behold."
Pulling away slowly, we looked up where I saw Helder, always upholding a deadly aura around him with a dark smirk. Acting gallantly but never failing to induce strange questions in your heart.
'I guess the rumors of her changing your whole life's flow were true, dear cousin."
The way he curled those lips was doubtful, holding a mystifying glimpse in his hazel eyes. He sounded so lively yet the wickedness in them made me serious.
'One marries for their peace after all, not to ruin their lives." Not having to overreact, I hummed, giving him a side hug.
'Anyways, welcome. Fancy finding you here." I forced a smile, patting Saafia's shoulder to leave us alone, giving her my office.
She gave me a questioning look but left us alone.
'I couldn't come to your wedding so I thought I would make up for it by paying you guys a visit now. Sorry, I had too much work. I just got time now. Congratulations." He smiled, shaking my hand in a firm grip.
If it was before, I would have given a rude response but my heart was blooming in utter elation that I didn't want to stain my tongue with foul words.
'Hmm. Thanks. How's Uncle?" I asked, he was taken aback at my gentle tone as I motioned to him to take a seat.
'Deteriorating health. What can I say? You reap what you sow." He shrugged his shoulders, nonchalant about it.
'You shouldn't say this, he is your father." I mumbled.
'Leave it. I have seen what happened to us because of him and I have grown sick of it." He exhaled in frustration.
'What do you mean?" I questioned, baffled.
'I know you must be discontented with my unannounced presence but I had been bothered for years and since you had become too strict I knew talking to you was going to be futile."
Of course, I would hadn't even seen his face before but I didn't want to do it anymore.
'That is why, I kept quiet all this time, waiting for one day where your heart might be soothed so that I could contact you and place whatever hatred our families had behind."
When he explained, I was taken aback, chuckling worriedly, I didn't know how to react.
'I.. uh, I don't know what to say. I honestly didn't think about you guys much after Mom's death. I completely detached myself."
It was too sudden for me, him returning and wanting to mend bond.
'Yes. I know that but I barely have any family members left. You still got from your Mother's side but I don't. And I was just hoping if we, as the upcoming generation, should place everything behind."
He asked expectantly, curling his lips in a wide, charming smile. I was only confused at his enunciation. I thought we separated paths for better.
'Hmm. I know. If it was before, Helder, I would have thrown you out but today, at the point I have reached, I don't want to carry grudges and hatred." I responded honestly.
'She changed you after all. I had seen you online in interviews. Saafia has entered your life as a blessing." He smirked, teasing me. I couldn't help but to smile back and nodded.
'For sure."
'And you are right too. It was Uncle Harry who, you just followed him. I don't want to continue years of hatred too." I sighed, gathering my thoughts.
'Let's clear our hearts for each other, Helder."
Curling my lips in a feeble smile, I offered him my hand, truly not wanting to continue this chain of resentment.
He smiled widely, taking my hand as we both shook hands, 'With pleasure, Dariel."
