Chapter 62
SAAFIA'S POV:-
It was late at night, Dariel was working in the dimly lit room. He was on the couch while I was sitting on the bed, watching my beloved look eye-pleasing in every possible way.
'I did not like the way Veronica was looking at us. She had so much envy in her eyes." I began to speak, crossing my legs, hoping it won't smear his mood.
'I didn't notice. I was so focused on your felicity that I didn't pay attention to another detail." He replied nonchalantly, finger typing, eyes not removing from the screen.
'She was talking so much about you." I muttered.
'Must be surprised to find myself delighted with you. Or else I cannot see her ever fathoming to return, knowing I won't let it too." He smirked.
'Did you truly physically abuse her?" I asked out of curiosity. I had heard scary rumors about him and was astounded that none of it was done to me.
He sounded like a demon from everyone's talks.
'Yes. I hurt her both mentally and physically." Even he accepted it?!
My eyes widened, intrigued widened to perceive what she did that he agonized her very soul. He accepted that he tormented her…
'Why?" I asked, mouth gaping. Slamming his finger on the key, he stopped for a brief second as his jaw clenched.
Forming my lips in a thin line, I patiently waited to hear what she did. Curling his hand in a fist, he breathed out heavily.
'She killed my child."
'Come again?" I blinked, tilting my head in confusion.
'She did the abortion without telling me, I was so happy but she took that one happiness from me." He growled.
'But, did she do that?!" I couldn't fathom for what reason she would have done that.
'According to her she got strayed. She cheated on me for another man, he ‘manipulated' her to do the abortion so they could live together." He scoffed, the hint of sorrow flashed in his eyes and it pricked me.
He got so lonely after losing his mother and she, she killed his another chance in life.
'Was it Jared?" I asked worriedly. I agree he was a cheater but he… he was never cruel.
'No. Someone else. But, it turned out it was my enemy, he did that to her and left her on my mercy. I never did nor will I ever forgive her for murdering my ray of hope." He chuckled dryly, leaning back and rubbing his temples to conceal his grief but to no avail.
The pain of losing his child was crystal-clear in his eyes and it hurt me to find my Dariel anguished.
'So I punished her with whatever I found befitting." He finished, telling me why he always resented her and treated her horribly.
She deserved that, not only she cheated, she also killed their baby. She was a selfish woman who did nothing but to damage him more.
'Oh, Dariel…"
Calling him tenderly, I got up hastily and sat beside him, taking his arm in mine. He straightened his back, arching an eyebrow at me as I smiled, looking up at him in mesmerization.
'Don't worry, this has passed. Leave it all behind." I whispered, intertwining my fingers with him and kissing his hands while he continued to stare intensely.
'I won't hurt you, or your feelings. I would never imagine stealing what you love. I will do my best to ensure you and I live happily ever after." I whispered, moving his arm to put it on my shoulder so I could rest my chest on his hard chest.
He continued to stare at me for the next few seconds before ending a tranquilized posture. One hand on my shoulder and the other knitted our fingers togethers to carve that I would ensure our future.
'I have faith in you, Saafia." He murmured, kissing my hand before letting it go and going to work with his hand on my shoulder, not leaving me.
'I love you, Dariel." I spoke wholeheartedly, admiring his beauty.
'You make me feel guilty sometimes for not being able to love you back." He smiled nervously.
'Smile at me and that is enough for me." I continued.
Unable to understand what possibly happened to me in his presence that it halted my whole being and desired him only.
'You should sleep. I have to work for another hour or so. It's getting late." He hummed, kissed my cheeks and started working again.
'Shall I make some coffee for us?"
'I would much appreciate it." He smirked as we shared a cup of coffee and I stayed with him until he worked.
The next day, after Dariel left, I was staring at the necklace he bought for me, tracing it as the most precious I had ever received.
While I was busy daydreaming, my phone rang. It was Jacey.
'Hello?"
But it was Sam, wiping my smile instantly.
'Saafia, It's Sam. Me and Jacey want to talk to you. I know what I did was horrible but please I cannot continue my bond with Jacey until I beg for your forgiveness." He asked breathlessly and I had a bad feeling about it.
'I will ask Dariel first. I have no intention of spending a second in your proximity." I spoke coldly, closing the necklace box, frowning deeply.
'No, no, if you told him, he would kill me. Please. He also hired some ruffians to beat me. I couldn't get up for a month. Please have mercy." He begged, staggering me. What had that man done for me?
'What?"
Taken aback, I didn't expect Dariel would go that far to teach him a lesson.
'Yes. Dariel would do the worst to me. I just want to apologize in Jacey's presence and clear hearts. Please, I beg you." He continued to plead with me and I guess he had learned his lesson.
Who wouldn't after getting beaten that one won't be able to get up for a month?
Sighing, I agreed, cutting the call, 'Uh.. okay."
'Thank you so much!"
After the call, I rubbed my temples. It gave me a scary omen but Dariel had gone too far. He had punished him, if he had learned then there was no point in holding a grudge.
'Whatever it was. Let me get over it."
Muttering, I changed into something casual from my pajamas and went to see them. If Jacey would be present, I could clear the hatred in her heart too.
I didn't want anyone to resent me, that too Dariel's sister so I could convince her or else I would have never agreed to meet him alone.
I didn't trust him.
But the fact Jacey would be there relieved me as I left.
Holding my cold posture, I kept a straight face and came to see him in an open cafe in a garden.
'Thank you so much for coming." He grinned, offering me to take a seat.
'Where is Jacey?" I asked coldly. There was no one, just him and me and that distressed me.
'She will be here anytime soon."
'Hmm. What do you want to say?" I scoffed, sitting down rudely, folding my arms at my chest. I didn't come for a chit-chat, I was only here to convince Jacey.
'I am so sorry… I.. thought you are going through the same misery Veronica did so I thought about helping you. I am so sorry." He apologized, looking down, joining his hands before me.
'I don't trust you at all." I frowned.
He looked up at me, tears collecting in his eyes, enunciating the sentence I thought I would hear or wanted to hear from someone disgusting as him.
'Please… I fell in love with you the second I saw you."
