Chapter 58
We were having dinner and in his presence I was forgetting everything only to focus on him entirely.
Curling my lips in a smile, I rested my elbow on the table, to catch a proper glimpse of his face.
'Saafia, listen." He called, shaking his head at my keen gaze with a faint smile, focusing on his food.
'Hmm?"
'We might have to go to a couple's event. Jared and Veronica would be there too." He said vaguely.
'From them, are you done with your revenge? You sent him to jail, I came to know you got him beaten too. You humiliated him, aren't you done yet?" I sighed in return, straightening my back, motioning to him to look up at me.
He frowned, grip becoming firm on the fork with a clenched jaw, 'No-"
He was about to growl and express his hatred but curling my lips downwards, I put my hand over his, vanishing the hint of fury.
He was taken aback as I gave his hand an assuring squeeze, flashing a kind smile to stop him from walking down this path.
'Dariel, please, it's been five months. Move on. Whatever happened, it happened and it's all your fault. You are the one who treated Veronica so badly that she had to become desperate so stop hurting them."
Whispering gently, I hoped to make him apprehend that the path he was choosing would only desolate him in the end. That he would gain nothing in return.
'I won't. They should be punished-"
Being stubborn, he hissed, yanking his hand back from mine. My frown deepened at his display of resentment and hurt the people I forgave honestly.
And since that was the only thing we had in common, I remained stubborn too and took him hand rigidly in mind again.
'Forgive them. If they hadn't left then how could I have met you? For my sake, stop hurting them anymore. Please." I demanded sternly.
I wonder if he would listen to me?
Would my words matter to the point he would give up on his revenge? Did I mean that much?
Patiently waiting for his response, he gave me a look of disapproval, certainly not liking my idea which dropped my expectations.
Averting my eyes sorrowfully, I was about to remove my hand but he exhaled and intertwined his fingers with mine.
'Only because you are saying or else…" He murmured, giving my hand a firm grip.
A grin crept on my features, the heartwarming sensation tranquilized me that I meant so much to the point he agreed.
'Thanks." Grinning, I giggled, not leaving him. He forced a smile.
He was still against my words yet complied and rolled his eyes.
'And that shameless man Sam and Jacey would be there too."
'Now I recall, you already warned him to stay away from me." I smirked.
He told me he wouldn't but he did.
'You should know that I am possessive about you."
He arched an eyebrow seductively, pulling my hand to kiss my knuckles before releasing my hand, making my heart pound in fluttering sensations I loved to receive.
'The single thought of you leaving distresses me, I would keep you with me, for that threatening him was no big deal." He breathed out.
Ah, him and his talks would do something to me one day.
His actions forced me to melt but there were things we should focus on first.
'You can't let Jacey live with someone like him." I said seriously.
'Ah, don't worry about it. Let him break her heart and make her realize, if we would do anything, she would call us wrong." He hummed, waving his hand to shrug this off.
'I agree. I hope she doesn't hate me…" I hummed, trailing off.
I was about to look at my plate but he frowned, snapping his fingers to get my focus on him.
'Why do you care about it? Honestly, I hate it, you don't need her forgiveness when you have done nothing."
'But, I can't bear anyone hating me when I had no fault." I insisted.
'She will come back when she will realize herself. You don't have to worry about it. When I am here, what else do you need?" He also continued softly.
'Hmm…"
True… Ah, he had no idea the merest words of his were enough to inebriate me, I lost my mind when those in-depth words reached me.
‘Of course, when you were here, what else did I need?'
As time passed, my feelings for him were only growing immensely. Later, the time to leave for the event came as well and I was wholeheartedly watching him getting ready.
With a sugary smile, I was sitting on the bed, observing my husband getting ready, buttoning his black waistcoat with a white shirt.
'May I know why you are staring?" He smirked, applying his cologne, glancing at me through the reflection.
'You look beautiful." I whispered, getting lost in him.
He chuckled faintly, 'I know. You should get ready too."
'Hmm. You are right." I nodded, getting up to take out my dress as he added.
'And yeah, match the color."
'I was going to do it anyway even if you won't say it yourself." I giggled, helping him wear his black coat to complete his dominant and eye-catching form.
'Good. I am waiting for you downstairs." He pinched my cheeks as usual and walked out of the room, allowing me to get ready.
I also got ready in an hour, I straightened my hair with a black a-line gown and a maroon lipstick, looking stunning.
Grinning at my reflection, I hastily got down to show him my dress.
'Dariel."
'Hmm?"
He was on a call but stopped when I came and took a spin to show my dress.
Exhilarated at how immaculately our dressed match that anyone could tell we were a couple from afar.
'So, how do I look?" I giggled, looking up at him expectantly.
'Hmm. Good. Whatever." He hummed, moving hand to shrug me off and going back to the call.
My smile died, glaring at him for smearing my excitement so perfect. Narrowing my eyes on him, I folded my arm at my chest, not moving an inch.
He cut the call and turned to leave but when I didn't move an inch, he sighed, gesturing to me to follow yet I remained stoic.
'What? Come, we are getting late."
'No, we are not leaving until I hear what you actually think." I ordered, rolling my eyes off.
'Aren't you demanding too much, Lady?"
Instead of being exasperated, he returned a dark smirk. Knitting his brows temptingly, he rested his hands in his pockets and approached me steadily, eyes scrutinizing my body.
'I want to hear your thoughts or else I won't move from here." I held my head high, taking the lapel on his coat in my hand.
His smirk grew aesthetic, eyes cascading down to my hand holding him and back to my eyes, closing the gap.
'Fine then."
With his voice going lower, he snaked his one hand around my waist, pressing my body over his strong one, locking me in his proximity with an unbreakable contact.
I was about to lower my gaze shyly but not permitting me, his hand wrapped around my neck, thumb on my cheek to close the gap.
'I think you look like the right I gained right from above, with the permission of heavens. The one made for me, only me." He started seductively, mixing his breaths with mine.
My throat dried with instant weakness to my knees as my heart began to hammer against my ribcage.
Observing my blush, his smirk widened, moving to my ears so he could speak words I could etch into my soul.
'You look like you are mine."
A satisfactory shiver went down my spine at his whisper. I nibbled on my bottom lip, turning my head to the side. He pulled away gradually after gratifying me.
'Now, if you are done hearing my thoughts. Shall we go?"
Clearing his throat, he motioned me with his hand and grinning sheepishly, I wrapped my both hands around his arm.
He let out a short-laugh at my hopeless action, clinging onto him delightfully.
'Why don't you always compliment me like this?" I beamed.
Loving to hear his perspective as I wondered how many times such thoughts crossed him and he never told me.
He pinched my cheeks, 'There is no way I would spoil you like this."
"Yes, yes, we will see about it later."
I giggled to which he smirked at me, almost challenging me to see who would win.
With a mesmerizing stare, lasting for five seconds we both expressed our emotions. For once, I wanted him to go through the same, I wonder if I could.
I guess we would see.
With these sensations, we left for the event.
And one thing was clear, my feelings were becoming stronger.
