Chapter 35
In the evening, I returned home. My mind was unable to shift her thoughts, I was enraged to know what she told Sam. And how dare she hold his hand. I was furious, how could she?
When she didn't hold mine willingly.
Most of all, why did she make our personal matter public?
'Oh, welcome, Dariel-"
'Hmm." I hummed, putting my hand in the air to stop her.
Jacey and Sam gave me a weird look but I ignored them and barged inside our room with a growl. My mood was ruined absolutely anyways.
'Saa-"
The moment I was about to scowl at her, she got up immediately, her face glowing to see me.
'Oh, Welcome home. I was waiting for you!" She beamed, rushing to me.
Why?
My furious self was only greeted by her grin, wearing a necklace which suited her beautifully, moving around gracefully to show me.
'Look, I got this matching pink necklace for my dress. It was so expensive. Jacey said it was fine. Can I keep it?" She asked innocently, showing me her necklace.
A necklace made her delighted. An accessory which I had never noticed before, not on my Mother, Jacey or Veronica.
'Can I?" She asked again, her big eyes not removing from me. Drying the back of my throat.
I never cared yet she was posing as well to hear my reaction.
‘Why do you always show everything to me knowing I won't react?' I thought, tilting my head to the side, cascading my eyes to her necklace and back to her.
'How much does it cost?" I asked, intrigued to know, raising an eyebrow.
'10000 Dollars. I had never bought jewelry this expensive. She told me to look for a more fancy one but I liked one." She trailed off nervously, forming her lips in a thin line.
I blinked. I hope she remembered the price of my suit. My one watch is a million dollars and she… ah, her innocence sometimes compels me.
'Will it look good on that pink dress your mother made? I am going to wear it." She asked expectantly, making my heart thump when she tugged her hair behind her ear.
I forgot what Sam told me, only to stare at her grin.
She was so happy yet concerned about buying a necklace. How exquisite.
Inhaling sharply, I waved my hand to shrug her off, scoffing, 'Hmm. Fine. Whatever. I am tired."
Muttering, I put my things down, loosening my tie. Disappointment came to her face like always. Lips shaking, almost making a crying face when she got no reaction.
Like. always.
'Can't you comment on anything I do for once? Are they not to your liking? Do you like them, do you hate them? Anything?" She hissed, pulling my coat from behind, forcing me to turn to her.
She knew I would react this way, she knew I wouldn't care or appreciate it, she knew I would scoff.
She knew!
‘Then why the fuck did you show it to me in the first place!?'
'What is your prob-"
I opened my mouth to break her heart but words refused to come out. I stared at her puffy and almost teary eyes for the next few seconds.
'You know what?"
I scanned her from top to bottom and exhaled, 'I hate the color pink."
Her mouth gaped in disbelief, displeased and before she could walk on me, I closed the distance by sliding my finger on the chain of the necklace.
'What-"
Making her aura and warmth collide with mine. My one hand in my pocket and the other grazing her neck.
Having no idea what was happening to me or why my body reacted on its own to keep her caged in proximity.
'And I also think that pink would compliment the blush you get each time I do this." I whispered sincerely, bringing my index finger upward to her scarlet cheeks.
'Do what?" She asked hesitantly.
Her breaths became rough, growing nervous at my unexpected interaction. That was her fault. She asked for it.
Smirking, I pulled her cheeks harshly, 'This."
'Ahh!"
She literally shouted, pushing me away and rubbing her hurting cheek, certainly not foreseeing that I would do this.
'What are you trying to do?! Swell my cheek?!" She hissed.
'Maybe."
Murmuring, I smirked at her and went to freshen up. She looked at me for the next few seconds, holding her cheek with a pout but soon smiled faintly in return, averting her gaze shyly.
‘Why are you doing this when I have done nothing?'
With this thought, I held my head to release thoughts which never crossed my mind before and left for the bathroom.
Later, after dinner, she decided to exasperate me as well as payback. I should have known she wouldn't sit back quietly.
I spent some time with Jacey and entered the room to sleep only to find her sitting on my couch, crossing her legs, engrossed in her phone.
'Move." I frowned, folding my arms at my chest.
'No." She replied coldly without looking up.
'Why do you want to sleep with me so badly? Are you that desperate for a man?" I taunted, hoping that would make her listen but she remained stubborn.
'Yes." She replied coldly again, earning a loud frustrating sigh from me.
Don't… Don't do this.
I couldn't share a bed with her. If I did, I would lose- nevermind. Why should I, Dariel Cannedy, sleep with her in the first place?
A faint smirk came to her lips that I was left with no choice but to follow but she forgot how stubborn I could be.
Poor girl thought she won.
Before she could lift her gaze, I nonetheless laid down. Placing my legs across her laps, pressing my muscular leg on her petite laps.
'What the-"
Gasping, I smirked this time, covering my face with my one hand while glancing at her from the corner of my eyes, refusing to bulge as she growled at me.
'Do whatever you want. I won't share a bed with you. I am still out of your league, Darling." I enunciated.
'You are so damn stubborn. Fine then."
She slapped my legs away from her laps and went to the bed. I almost wanted to chuckle at her. She was glaring at me so I refrained myself.
'What? Gave up already? I thought you would seduce me at least to make me sleep with you, hmm?" I teased.
She scoffed and turned so her back could face me, to ignore me. Licking my lips, I plopped on my elbow, snickering at her pout.
'Come on, Darling. Come. Show me your desperation." I whistled at her, snapping my fingers to get her attention.
'Asshole."
Muttering under her breaths, she laid down on the bed roughly, covering herself.
'I heard that, woman!" I shouted.
'I don't care!" She yelled back, closing her whole body with the duvet. I sighed at her rage and laid down again as soon my smirk turned into a suppressed smile.
Covering my face with my hands, I smiled to myself, wondering.
‘If you are smiling too? Or, feeling the same?'
