REALITY HAS DAWNED

SHAWN "Son, I didn't know she was your mate." My dad says to me but I can't control my anger. Even though he is my father, I want to kill him for doing that to my mate. I feel someone placing their hands on my shoulders. "Shawn, calm down man. Go to Valerie, I'll take care of him." Jasper tells me. My mate is lying on the floor, which snaps me out. I turn to see my mate lying with her head on Edith's lap. "Leave my land, now!" I yell at my dad using my Alpha tone. I rush to her side but Oscar stops me by placing his palm on my chest and shoving me. "Move." I snarl at him. "Back off." He barks at me. "She is my mate." I growl at him. "And it was your father who did this to her." He snaps back. I'm having enough of this wolf coming between me and my mate. I punch him in the jaw and he punches me back. "Fucking, son of a bitch!" He spit. He raises his hand to hit me again but I catch it and punch him back. Punches after punches are being thrown and then I have him down on the ground. "Stay the fuck away from my mate!" I growl at him holding his collar. Oscar somehow manages to get out of my hold and before I draw another punch, I'm pulled back by Abed. "This isn't the time to fight you idiots! A girl is lying there on the floor!" Nathan roars loudly. My mate is on the floor. I take a deep breath to control my wolf. Abed releases his hold on me. "Then tell your Alpha to back down, they are mates" Abed roars at Nathan to which there's a loud growl. Many members from my Pack have come to the house and are standing behind me. To our opposite, Oscar, Nathan, Evie and Ivan are standing, all covering Valerie from me. My wolf is scratching inside me wanting to be let out but I can't do that because my first concern is my mate who is still on the floor amidst those glass pieces. "We should have never come here, you people don't deserve her!" Oscar scoffs to no one in particular. "Not even twenty four hours since she arrived and you people are doing this to her. I don't want to imagine how she even stayed here with you all!" Ivan says while growling. "She is part of our Pack. We are her family." Jasper says while gritting his teeth to which Evie gives a humorless laugh. "Right, I bet that is what you were calling yourself six years ago." Evie snaps to which Jasper cringes. "Move. I want to see my mate." I says while gritting my teeth to all those wolves that are standing like guards in front of me. "Don't be worried about Val, she will wake up in like a minute. Just go and find a place to hide your father." Evie tells me through gritted teeth and I glare at her while Jasper growls at me. "Guys, she is healing." Edith says, gulping loudly and all the guards turn back. "Edith, get away from there now." Nathan orders his mate and she gets up, placing Valerie softly on the floor. I see Evie backing away too with Oscar covering her and Nathan covering his mate, Edith. They all have worried expressions on their faces. What the hell is happening? I noticed Valerie's back that is completely healed now but her shirt is torn in the back where my dad had scraped her. Not wasting any time, I take a step towards my mate when her hands shows some movement. Everything happens so fast that if it isn't for the werewolf abilities, then I won't have believed it. I've just taken two steps towards my mate when she sits up and in a flash rushes towards my dad and holds him by the throat completely backing him up against the wall. "Did.You.Dare.Disrespect me?" Valerie asks amid clenched teeth to the old man who looks horrified. Her voice is more animalistic now. I bet he doesn't even see what is coming next because I myself don't! Valerie still holding his neck throws him to the opposite side of the wall. My dad crashes with a loud thud. I do feel pity for him but he asked for it himself. Valerie turns around to face us, her irises are blood red and there are loud gasps in the room. I see Idris near the door with a shocked expression all over his face. She slightly bends her head and grits her teeth. She lunges forward and lands on her feet right in front of my dad who is trying to get up from the fall. "I asked, did you dare disrespect me?" Valerie asks in a slow malicious voice to my dad who's moving backwards using his butt while Valerie was crawling on her fours towards him. She's clenching her teeth as well. My dad moves backwards until he's completely cornered against the wall with Valerie staring at him in front. "So- sorr- sorry." My dad says while stuttering. His breathing is heavy and he's sweating everywhere. I'm completely shocked hearing my dad. This is the man who was once feared by everyone and now he seems ready to piss on himself! All this was done by Valerie. She was the one who was most scared of him and now my dad looks like he has seen a ghost. "Better." Valerie whispers still staring. She starts walking towards the window. Her face has a blank expression but her jaws are clenched and her claws were out. "Evie, move." Ivan shouts and Evie who is in front of the window nods at him and quickly moves away. Valerie walks towards the window, breaks the glass and jumps out of the window. The air in the room is relaxed only after she leaves. I start walking towards the window but Edith stops me. "She needs some time alone. Talk to her tomorrow." She tells me and I nod at her. Even though I badly want to be with Valerie, I know she has had too much drama for a day. I want to apologize to her about what I had done to her in the past but after what just happened, I think the chance of her forgiving me is minimal. "Everyone out!" I command and every member of my Pack leaves the room. I see my dad who is walking slowly but I don't say anything to him because my wolf prefers my mate over him and Valerie's behavior was nothing compared to how he would lash out at her in the past. I look at Ivan, Evie and other members of her pack who are picking things lying on the floor. "Do you need anything? Valerie asked us to burn everything." Edith queries me, giving a small smile. She's the only one in their Pack who doesn't seem to hate me. "Just one thing," I stop to ask. "Why did you all back away from Valerie when she gained conscious?" I ask her curiously because I don't know why they all backed away. "We backed away because we gave her enough place to beat you all up." Oscar spits angrily and I growl at him. "I told her at least a million times to never come here, but the poor girl still cares for you assholes!" He says, growling. "Evie, call Donald and ask him to come here ASAP. I don't want a repeat of what happened today!" Oscar says and leaves the room. "Bastard." I say, growling. "At least he cares for her." Evie mutters, looking at me. "She is my mate!" I tell her through gritted teeth and she rolls her eyes at that. "Please leave. We want to clean this room." Evie says dryly and I scowl at her. I walk towards the door when I see a picture in the floor; I pick it up and look at it. Valerie is somewhere around ten in that photo smiling shyly with a novel in her hand. The girl in the photo is nothing compared to the Valerie I saw a few minutes ago. The girl in the photo is sweet and shy while the new Valerie is sexy and scary. I can't figure out which one is better! I take the photo with me and go to my house which will soon be Valerie's and my home. **** VALERIE As soon as I'm deep into the woods and sure that nobody is watching me, I shift into my wolf. I've never done this in any other Pack but now my wolf wants to be let out badly and I let her take control. I would have killed Dean but I didn't because he's Shawn's father after all. I was happy looking at the fear in his eyes. When I'm deep into the woods, I hear the sound of waves and I rush towards the ocean. I look everywhere to make sure no one is watching me. I then shift back into human form and go for a skin dripping. Like always, I feel I'm home when I'm inside the water. The world inside the ocean is a calm, quiet and peaceful one. The fishes are making way for me and I swim past them. I can't believe mother would do that! She had kept the room all set for me with family pictures in it. I never had a family when I needed them, why now? They have no right to call me as their family, they themselves lost that right. I saw my mother crying for me to stop, and I remember that that's what I used to do once, crying for them to stop but they never did. They've lost me and now it's difficult for me to become their daughter. I have a family now...A family that loves me and asks only for my love in return, a family that have accepted me for what I am, a family that never judges me and a family that I have promised to protect. This is the first time I'm swimming in this ocean and it's exciting me more, wanting to explore everything inside the ocean. I wanted to rest when I went to my room but now I feel there isn't any need for taking rest. My body is all geared up. 'Val, where are you?" I hear Evie's voice in my head when I'm trailing a school of green jack fish. The life inside the ocean is truly beautiful. I've lost count of the number of coral reefs I've seen so far. 'Ocean' I reply as I'm about touching a green jack fish. 'You do remember that you destroyed your room right?' she asks me and that's when I recall again what I have done. 'So?' I ask her disinterestedly because she drags me back to reality. 'So?' she mimicks me and I lowly growl at her. 'Where are you crashing tonight?" she asks me. 'Your room.' I tell her in a 'duh' tone. 'Good, then please come soon, I want to sleep.' She tells me and I can hear her yawning in my head. 'Uh, actually you come to the beach because I shifted and my clothes are somewhere in the woods shredded.' I blurt and block Evie before she can yell at me for shifting and swim towards the shore. I'm just hoping I can get some sleep, because now that I met Shawn, and I know that he's my mate, my wolf wants to be with him. I'll say again...she is a stupid female!
