"Guys its late and she is not back yet, please let us go and check up on her." Evie says.
"You know where she'll go, it's not possible...." Ivan says and shuts his mouth quickly when everyone from her Pack gives him a piercing look.
"Where will she go?" I ask him but there's no reply.
"Where does she go?" I ask again in a scorching emphasis.
"Swimming." Oscar says.
"Swimming? She will be swimming for ten hours?" I snap at him.
"She loves swimming." he says while shrugging.
I seriously do not appreciate the way he has taken this matter so casually. He doesn't seem the least bit worried.
"Valerie cannot swim" Jasper snaps.
"Yeah well, she learnt it." Ivan says.
"Can someone explain what happened today?" Jasper asks again.
"She killed a rogue and she lost control." Oscar says again, shrugging like it isn't a big deal. I'm pissed off at him and I go to punch him. Jasper understands what I'm about to do so he holds me back quickly.
"Bastard!" I growl at him. "She is your Beta" I say and he chuckles, finding it humorous.
"That's why I'm saying, she'll be back." he says, smiling confidently. "Give her some time."
"Ten hours is more than enough!" I yell.
"Well, the last time she took eighteen hours." he says growling and I stop fighting when his words start sinking into me.
"Last time?" I whisper. "She has lost control before?" he sighs and nods.
"How does that happen?" I ask him.
"It's her wolf" Edith speaks and I look at her questioningly.
"Her wolf isn't like us." she says and I don't miss the glare Oscar gives Edith.
"Because she shifted late than all of us?" Jasper asks curiously.
"Maybe." Edith shrugs.
"Why did she shift late?" I ask her.
"It's something that we cannot question." Evie chips in. "It's beyond our imagination." she adds and looks away and I see the light tears coming from the corner of her eyes. That shows that the memory is painful for her!
"Since she shifted late her wolf was curbed inside her for two long years. And we all know how a caged animal reacts when it comes out all of a sudden. That is what happened in Valerie's case." Edith explains.
"What happened when she shifted?" I ask Oscar. "You were with her right?" I ask him.
"It's not my story to tell. If Valerie wishes then she will tell you." Oscar replies.
I'm about to ask him more because clearly everyone from her Pack is hiding something, but Edith speaks again. "Even now she doesn't shift quite often and so, her wolf feels it is being suppressed. So the animal side found a way of its own, it started taking control over her when she is in her human form." she says.
"It means whatever happened then, wasn't her doing. Her wolf is quite feisty and I'm sure one of those mutts provoked her." Evie says.
"You said it has happened before?" Jasper asks to no one in particular.
"Yeah, it has." Nathan replies. "Last time it took around twenty five of us to hold and calm her down but today, thanks to you, she got back the control before she could destroy everything." He tells me.
"I had taken her blood sample a few years ago and did some research about this however I ended up with nothing different. That is why I think Valerie loses control only when it involves these rogues. Yesterday was the first time I saw her almost losing control." Edith says referring to the incident with Amelia. "She was about to shift and it scared the hell out of me!"
"What's wrong in her shifting?" I ask, frowning. "And I know all of you are involved in this. Don't even think about lying because I saw you all yesterday silently praying that she shouldn't shift!" I yell at them.
"Nothing is wrong, she doesn't like shifting...much" Nathan says.
"Why?"
"It's her decision!" Oscar snaps at me and I growl at him.
"Not shifting?" Jasper enquires. "Why?"
Suddenly, there's complete silence. No one answers for a minute or so.
"True, I've never seen her shift and I don't even know what color her wolf is!" I say, glaring at them all. They're definitely hiding something from me....from us!
"Black."
"Brown."
"Red."
"Yellow."
These were the answers I get from Nathan, Oscar, Ivan and Bella. I narrow my eyes at them.
"You... you were asking about... uh... Valerie's w-wolf?" Edith asks me nervously.
"It's a light color." Evie says quickly.
"Yeah.... Uh- very, very light color." she says and gulps.
"That's right, light color." Ivan concurs with her.
"Yep... light color." Oscar chips in and everyone in their Pack is nodding continuously while I frown at them. Fuck, light color!
"What about these rogues?" I ask them. "Are these the ones your Pack is after?"
"Yes." Nathan says.
"Not all though, only two. Rest I think were hired to do the work." Oscar says.
"Who two?"
"Jimmy and Dominic."
"How does Valerie know them?" I ask while frowning. I don't like her involving in murders of rogues and it bothers me a lot seeing her today.
"Look, can you ask these questions later, we need to find Valerie!" Oscar says quickly, changing the topic.
"Funny... you weren't bothered about finding her earlier." I snap.
"I ob.... respect her wishes and so I told you not to." he replies through his teeth.
"Her wish?" Jasper asks.
"I respect all her... decisions. Why do you think I didn't kill you both?" Oscar asks Jasper and I to which we both growl loudly. "It's because my..... Beta.... asked me not to!" he says and I growl.
"She won't be your Beta for long." I tell him to which there are growls from everyone from their Pack. "She is my mate, she will stay with me." I snap.
"Why don't you post in the dailies that she is your mate?" Oscar asks sarcastically and I glare at him.
"I seriously don't know how someone as good as Valerie got you!" he mutters scowling at me and walks out of the Pack House.
***
I'm pacing back and forth in the living room of the Pack house when I hear a howl coming from the woods that makes my wolf perky.
He knows it's my mate and I bolt out of the room quickly.
Evie too gets up but someone holds her arms and stops her.
I catch her scent in the middle of the woods. She must have sensed me because I hear sounds of leaves shuffling behind a tree.
"Valerie?" I call her.
"Don't come close... I am not wearing anything!" she whispers still hiding behind a tree.
Immediately I remove my shirt and handed it to her.
"Take it." I tell her and she takes it. I wait while she puts on my shirt.
It's tempting for me and my wolf to look at her but I know now is not the right time.
She's still not coming out of her hiding so I decide to check on her. I feel like someone has stabbed my chest when I see her leaning against the tree trunk, hands behind her back and crying with her head bend down.
I pull her immediately and hug her tightly. She starts sobbing in my chest loudly.
"I'm sorry; I'm so sorry..." she keeps on saying continuously in a muffled tone.
"Hush... It's okay." I sooth her, rubbing her back. Her hair is damp implying she was in the water before she came here.
"I didn't mean to... I don't want to hurt you!" she tells me while crying and I can't help but chuckle, this girl whom I've hurt a lot in the past doesn't want to hurt me!
It only makes me feel a lot guiltier for what I've done in my past.
I kiss the top of her head and pull away to notice how dull and pale her skin is and how shadowed her eyes are from all the crying. She's really drained and she looks ready to sleep.
"You are exhausted." I say and bend down to lift her up in my arms and carry her to my home.
By the time I kick open the door to my room, she's already asleep.
I gently lay her down on the bed and get into it. I throw my arm around her slender waist and haul her up against me. Her face is buried on my chest while my chin rests on the top of her head.
"Goodnight." I whisper after kissing the top of her head and let myself drift to the most peaceful sleep of my life!

VALERIE
I nuzzle myself closer against the wonderful scent that is hitting my nose.
"Hmmm...." I mumble thinking about Shawn whose scent is similar to this.
Smells like Shawn?
I open my eyes screaming loudly and go rolling on the bed. I'm about to fall on the ground but I'm stopped when two strong hands hold my arms and pull me back to the bed.
Sighing, I look at Shawn who releases his hold on me after placing me back on the bed. A very shirtless Shawn!
I sit up straight staring at his half naked body.
His powerful chest, his perfect abs, toned muscles, tanned skin. Damn him for looking so hot!
My heart is banging inside my chest as if I'm running a marathon race.
"Like it?" I hear him asking and I unconsciously nod my head.
His chuckle snaps me out of my reverie and I glare at him. "Where's your shirt?" I ask rudely.
"You are wearing it!", he says and I look down and realise that I'm wearing his black shirt.
"Oh!" I say and see him smirking. "I'll go get changed." I say and I'm about to get off the bed when he catches my wrists and pulls me towards him, wrapping his other hand around my waist.
He lays me on the bed with him above me and starts kissing me hungrily to which I respond. I pull away to catch some air but he continues kissing my cheeks. He trails hot kisses on my neck and I immediately push him away before he can reach the spot where he would mark me.
I try to sit up but he doesn't let me because he roughly catches my waist and places me below him.
"Are you trying to refuse the bond?!" he asks, looking me dead in the eye.
"No." I say and shake my head to prove my point.
Why would he ask that? He is my mate. I know and start respecting it after recovering from the original shock.
He gets up and goes to sit on the corner of the bed, facing opposite side.
"Shawn." I call, adjusting his shirt that I'm wearing but he doesn't reply. Therefore, I go and sit next to him.
He isn't looking at me, so I slightly bump my shoulders against his muscular arms.
"Why do you keep running away?" he asks me, his voice hurt.
"If I don't you'll mark me and I told you I don't want you to mark me, yet." I reply honestly
"Why, because of yesterday?" he asks me and I flinch.
I don't remember anything that happened yesterday!
Nothing!
It's like I wasn't even there.
I remember growling at Jimmy and then I can't recall what happened next. The next memory I have is looking at the dead bodies and Shawn whose eyes were complete dark.
I must have hurt him but there were no marks on his body unlike Evie and Nathan.
I remember looking at Evie and I saw all the wounds I had caused on her body. I had hurt my own friends, my own Pack!
What a bad Alpha that I am!
My hands were filled with blood and I recall washing them again and again in the ocean to clean everything off me.
I was inside the water sobbing. I didn't want to go to the pack house; I was scared to see the hurt look in their faces, especially Evie's.
I didn't even want to be with Shawn because I had hurt him too but my wolf was craving for him and it was impossible to calm her anxiety. So, I shifted and howled, calling for Shawn.
I had also decided I won't tell him about being a white wolf. I am scared for him, though he can take on those rogues, I don't want him being involved with Mark Ambrose.
Therefore, I left it on the moon goddess to decide the right time for it which I hope will be only after I kill Mark Ambrose.
So, I will tell the truth to Shawn only after Mark's chapter is completed.
I'm snapped out of my thoughts when Shawn grabs my waist and helps me sit on his lap. He's kissing my tears.
"It's okay.... No one is mad at you." he tells me soothingly and kisses my brows. "Edith told me." he says and I stare at him.
"What did she tell you?" I ask wondering whether he knows that I am a white wolf.
"About your wolf." he says and I gulp. "How you don't shift often." After he says the last part, I sigh. It's true why I lose control like that, but the worst part is that I don't remember anything!
"Oh?" I say. It's also true I don't shift often.
Since I hide the truth of being a white wolf I rarely shift. I shift only when I am in our Pack. This is the first time I shifted while in another Pack.
"You didn't hurt anyone... you killed a bloody rogue and I must admit I don't like watching you kill anyone." he says and I chuckle grimly.
"I have killed wolves before." I say and he stares at me. "All bad rogues." I tell him to assure him that I never kill any Pack wolves. Archie doesn't count to me as a Pack wolf!
"You have been trained to kill them?"
"No. I decided to train myself to fight and be defensive." I tell him smiling.
"Who trained you?"
"Nelson did the most of it. However, Donald and Nathan also helped."
"Nelson?"
"Oh! He is the Alpha of the Waterfall Moon Pack and a good friend too." I tell him smiling.
"I know who he is." he says while growling. "When did he train you?"
"A few weeks after I shifted. Why?"
"He doesn't have a mate." Shawn tells me frowning and I narrow my eyes at him because I know where he's getting with this.
"I told you he is my friend." I say, growling.
"I know how rough the training is!" he snaps at me and mutters something about killing Nelson.
"Don't worry about that because Nelson was not that rough, he would-"
"Oh! I bet he would have gone all easy on you!" he tells me growling and I growl back at him. That is a lie, Nelson wasn't soft with me. His training was harsh but totally worth it!
"How dare you? He is my friend!" I say and try getting off his lap but he doesn't let me. "Let me go!" I yell at him.
"Don't!" he says and nuzzles his nose on my neck and I calm myself by closing my eyes.
A few minutes later, he pulls back and chuckles when he sees me frowning at him.
"You are cute" he says and kisses the tip of my nose. He's still shirtless and I'm tempted so I lean forward to kiss him but stop when the door to the room is pushed open.
I feel Shawn's chest vibrating because of the growl that is caused my Evie's interruption. I get up from his lap and look at her.
"I am telling you, you didn't hurt me at all. I will even raise my top and show you the proof but only after he is gone!" she tells me, pointing at Shawn who is glaring at her.
"And why are you glaring at me?" she snaps at him to which he growls again.
That's when a look of realisation crosses her face. "Oh! Did I disturb something?" she asks me smiling and I blush.
"If so, I am not sorry!" she says while smirking at Shawn and I can't help but chuckle while he continues to growl and scowl at her.
She takes hold of my hand and drags me towards another room and I shake my head at Shawn indicating not to stop us.
"Are you okay?" she asks me when we sit on the other room's bed.
"Shouldn't I be the one asking that?" I say to her grimly. "I am really sorry, I can't-" I start sobbing.
"It's Okay. No one was injured badly. Jimmy, Morris and their team of mutts are dead. Case closed!"
"Morris?" I ask her confusedly.
"When Oscar inspected the bodies, he found Morris." she tells me.
"Two more to go" she tells me while beaming.
"They are the worst" I say disdainfully.
Dominic and Mark are the lead among those rogues.
"Chill, we will kick their asses!" She says, getting up and starts making her way towards the balcony.
"It has been a long time since we went hunting isn't it?" she asks, smirking and I smile at her. We would always do this back in the Pack House.
I go to the balcony with her and look down. The distance is not as much compared to the seven floor house in the house but it will still be fun.
"Ready?" Evie asks me and I nod at her.
She jumps off the balcony shifting into her black wolf in the process before landing on the ground. I jump right after and sit on her back.
'Ride along bestie!' I say to her but she howls loudly at the sky and starts running towards the woods. I see Shawn and Jasper standing near the doorway and I wave at them.
Immediately everyone from my Pack in their wolf forms is behind us.
I look at them guiltily but none of them seems to remember what happened yesterday. They are all focused on hunting and so we all go to hunt... nothing actually because every animal is an extinct species for Edith.
However, I have fun chasing wild animals with my Pack.
I know Evie did this to distract me from yesterday's events and I'm happy for that.
I also know that everyone in the Pack is pretending like nothing happened yesterday and I love them for that!
I love my Pack, my Family!
