MOOD SWINGS
VALERIE
I was driving my car towards the Franklin City. One of Shawn's Pack members told me he had seen Shawn's car over there and it made my job easy.
The rhino didn't come back until two in the afternoon and so I finally left the house in search of him.
I brought my car to a halt when I saw the red signal ahead. Crap! Why should I be the one to get stuck in this? I hate signals with a passion.
Looking at the rear view mirror I adjusted my aviators a little. I was wearing a red denim jeggings with black polka dots top and a military green jacket over it. For me, I looked good.
"Take the call you idiot!" I muttered and picked up my cell phone to call Shawn one last time. No response.
I threw the cell phone on the passenger seat and then patiently waited for the light to turn green. There was a traffic cop who was checking a motor bike rider and I gritted my teeth.
Damn it! I didn't want to get caught, at least not now. Why? Because I had three extremely sharp knives inside my jacket pocket, one small knife in my back and a gun in my car.
I was prepared, just like the moon goddess had asked me to. I knew something was going to come soon and I hope it is Mark Ambrose because I want to finish him once and for all and live a peaceful life with my Pack and my mate.
There was this feeling in me that told me I had to be careful, I felt like my every move was being watched or known. I had asked everyone in the Pack to stay alert and keep their mind links open.
Now that almost all the pieces were there I knew it was not very far when I will be facing that demon again.
The light turned green and I started driving again, I made sure to smile sweetly at the traffic cop when I drove past him.
Opening the door of my car, I got out and looked at the building ahead. The building was big. This was like a head office of the Franklin Corporation.
I inhaled and I could smell Shawn's scent here. His Pack guy told me he had a meeting here today but I knew it was a lie.
I started climbing the entrance stairs when the guard over there got up from his seat.
"Excuse me ma'am." he said and I turned to glare at him. He took a step back and gulped, he was a human and so I turned and continued walking. Pushing the glass door I went inside the hall.
The receptionist there called me but I ignored her.
I continued walking and everyone was making their way for me. They were all humans here, all dressed in formals and I was in my red jeggings. Wow!
All the heads were turned to look at me but I kept a straight face and continued walking ahead. The only noise was my heels clicking the floor.
Honestly, I didn't know where I was walking because I have never been to this place before but my wolf knew where her mate was and she was taking me there.
Ignoring the lift I went for the stairs because I doubt any one would be using it. I seriously climbed the first few stairs patiently, but then lost my patience and used my werewolf strength for that.
When I sensed Shawn close by I stopped. The number outside the lift told me I was in the eighteenth floor. His scent was stronger now and my wolf started pacing inside me. She was missing her mate a lot and needed him more than ever now that he marked us.
I continued walking and stopped in front of a door where Shawn's scent was strongest. I had to be calm and explain everything to him and ask for his forgiveness.
"You can do this Valerie, Come on Valerie, you are strong, you are brave!" I muttered my favorite mantra and pushed the door.
I heaved a sigh when I met those pacific blue eyes that showed surprise to see me here. I smiled at him and took a step towards him but paused when he turned his head and looked ahead.
My eyes widened when I followed his gaze.
"You were saying?" Shawn growled at the guy who was standing at the opposite end of the table holding a remote of the projector, staring at me. Every head in that round table was turned towards me.
There was a meeting going on here then, I felt like a total idiot for interrupting like this.
The guy who was holding the remote cleared his throat and continued, "Um... 24X7 water supply is available here, the land has...." Blah blah blah crap. When the guy began all the head in the table ignored me and continued paying attention to the meeting.
Goddess! Please open the ground and swallow me.
I looked at Shawn again; he was attentively listening to the guy who was speaking about some land probably to build another Franklin building.
Biting my bottom lip, I turned and stepped out of the room slowly closing the door behind me.
I sat on one of the couches in the passage and patiently waited for Shawn to come out. When I was getting bored, I started playing angry birds in my cell phone.
After an hour or so the door opened and all the gentlemen's who were inside came out. They gave me weird glances when they walked past me.
Ignoring them, I looked for Shawn. He was the last one to come out. I stood up from the couch when I saw him.
"Shawn, I-" was all I got to say before he caught my elbows and began walking somewhere. He pushed a door and pulled me inside the room closing the door behind him.
I stared at him. He looked sexy in this totally formal attire. He was wearing an onyx color trousers with a snow white button down shirt, the sleeves of which were rolled up to his elbows.
"Why are you here?" he asked rudely and I flinched.
"I wanted to talk to you." I whispered and looked down. "More like apologise." I added softly. When there was no response from him, I slowly lifted my head.
He was staring at me and his jaws were clenched. "I am busy right now!" he finally said.
"What? You just came out from a meeting." I pointed exasperatedly.
"Well, I have another one!" he said opening the door and walked out.
I stood frozen in my place until I heard the sound of door clicking. "Shawn!" I called and pulled the door open. I followed his scent and he was headed downstairs. I knew the rhino was lying.
"Get in the car!" he said and I nodded and got inside his car after looking at my arrogant.
"Why did you lie?" I asked him frowning when he started driving.
"Okay, so now you got a problem with lying?" he asked me and I cringed at his tone.
"I am sorry okay?" I snapped at him. I know it didn't sound like a sincere apology but what the hell, He wasn't listening to me and I didn't know how to make him understand.
"Yeah I can see that you are!" he snapped back and I narrowed my eyes.
"Hey!" I rebuked slightly slapping his arm and ignoring the tingles. "I know Evie said everything to you, but will you listen to me?" when he didn't reply I continued talking. "Well, when I came here I was planning on taking revenge on you, you know for all the bullying." I said.
"So that was your revenge, lying to me?" he asked and I growled at him.
"Yeah, right. Like I knew you would be my mate before I came here!" I retorted, "Anyway all the tables were turned when I found out you were my mate." I said and turned to look at him.
He was staring at the road. Bloody rhinoceros.
"I didn't know whether you would accept me as your mate since we never got along." I said and he gave me an incredulous look.
"Of course I would accept my mate." he snapped at me.
"Well, then I decided to tell you and then the rogues attacked which forced me to change my plans." I said truthfully.
"You could have told me." he said, "Anytime, anywhere." he added and I looked down at my hands in my lap.
"I know. I am sorry" I said sincerely this time. There was a pause for a whole minute before he spoke again.
"Why change of plans when the rogues attacked?" he asked.
"I didn't want you getting involved with Mark Ambrose." I said and he stopped the car all of a sudden. Before I could crash against the glass he stopped me by catching my shoulders and pulling me back to the seat.
"What is wrong with you?" I yelled at him.
"What is wrong with me? What is wrong with you crazy lady? Seriously day by day my doubts are being confirmed that you don't think me worthy as being your mate!" he said and my jaws dropped.
What the hell? I never thought that.
"Why would I think like that?" I asked him disbelievingly and gave him an 'are-you-crazy' look.
"Whoever this Mark Ambrose is, I am not letting you go alone to fight with him!" he said and I shook my head. "Don't argue with me. You are going with me or you are not going at all!" he said and I growled at him.
"Mark is not just a rogue, Shawn. He is a follower of evil. I am sure he has powers too!"
"Like you controlling water?" he asked and I nodded. "What do you think is his?" he asked me.
"I don't know but I am sure he has one." I said, "besides I am created to kill him." I said pointing my index at my chest.
"I don't give a damn whether you are created to kill him or not but I am not letting you go alone!"
"Shawn-"
"I said don't argue with me!" he growled harshly.
"Get out!" I snarled at him.
"It's my car." He shrugs.
"Fine!" I muttered and got out of the car purposely closing the door harshly.
"Valerie." he called getting out of the car. "Hey!" he said again and I could hear him coming towards me so I increased my pace. "Hey Lady!" he called me again but I continued walking ahead gritting my teeth.
We were in the woods now.
"Valerie." he said and caught my arms roughly turning me around so that I could face him.
"Let go of me!" I growled at him.
"No. But I meant what I said Valerie, I won't let you go alone to fight with some shitty rogue." he said and crashed me against his chest. Wrapping his arms around me, he hugged me tightly, nuzzling his nose on my mark as I tried to pull myself from him. "Don't fight." he said softly and pulled me closer to himself, so close that I could hear his heart beating.
How could I say no when he said that in such a sweet voice? And then I wrapped my arms around his waist. But then I recalled about the mark in my neck.
"Why did you mark me?" I asked snappily pulling away and keeping some distance.
"Because I want everyone to know you belong to me!" he said. "I should have done that the moment I came to know you were my mate, you simply kept pushing it. If you are waiting for me to apologise then it won't happen!" he said smartly and I gritted my teeth.
"Bloody Rhino!" I muttered and the next thing I did was punch his jaw with full force. His head bent sideward from the force and I shook my hands because it was hurting my knuckles. "You should have asked me!" I said glaring at him.
Rubbing his jaws with the back of his hand he did the most unexpected thing, he smirked. "Does it hurt much?" he asked cockily referring to my hand and I curled my lips in anger.
"No. I can give you another one."
"Okay. I guess I deserved that one punch." he said shrugging and I narrowed my eyes suspiciously.
"You deserve much more than that one punch!" I snapped. "Do you know when I came back I wanted to take revenge on you?" I asked him.
"Then why didn't you?" he asked in a whisper.
"I couldn't." I whispered holding back a sob.
"Anyone else could but you couldn't because you are a better person than any of us Valerie. And I know that I don't deserve you but give me a chance to rectify everything that I did wrong to you in the past." he said with a gulp. "I am sorry for everything!" he said and I looked away.
A chance?
Even though deep down I was angry over everything in the past, I knew that I could never be happy with anyone else except Shawn. Walking off into the sunset alone with an unharmed pride would only make me unhappy or the rest of my life.
Just one chance.
"I am not going to join your Pack." I warned and a small smile crept in his face.
"We shall see." he said and kissed the top of my head. My anger was slowly fading away. What more could I do other than hit him for marking me because whatever I do at the end the mark is still going to be there.
Tilting my head back a little I turned to look at him, "I missed you!" I blurted out.
"I know. I am sorry for disappearing like that and behaving like a toddler but I needed some time to think." Shawn whispered and kissed my forehead.
"Don't do that again. I spent my whole day crying yesterday!" I said scrunching my nose a little and he chuckled.
"I could feel it." he murmured. He then leant forward and placed a small kiss on my lips and immediately pulled back.
"Why hide from all the Packs about being an Alpha?" he asked me.
"Just after knowing I am a white wolf everyone in your Pack started treating me like I am the goddess." I said frowning.
"Imagine what would have happened if every Alphas in the planet knew I am a white wolf?" I asked him. "I didn't want that. I just wanted my mate!" I said and bit my lip after realising what I said at the last.
My cheeks were burning.
Overshare much?
It was true though; I didn't want anyone other than my mate and always thought that if other Alphas knew they would desire something more from me because I always thought my mate will not be an Alpha since I am one.
I looked at him and tried my best to hide my blush when I saw the smirk in his face.
"I am glad you didn't tell anyone." he said smirking and I shoved him hard and turned to walk.
He immediately wrapped his arms from behind and whispered in my ears; "It makes me happy to know that you will be mine and only mine." he said and kissed beneath my earlobe.
"Pretty confident of yourself, huh?" I teased and he growled at me.
"You are only mine!" Shawn said looping me around so that I could face him and then pushed me against a nearby tree and crashed his lips against mine.
He trailed hungry kisses on my jaws and then went for my neck removing my jacket in the process. His hands were placed on the small of my back which then travelled to my butt, raising me completely from the ground so that I could wrap my legs around his waist.
