27.
AMBER'S POV.
"I can't continue this marriage with you." i finally made my decision after trying on various wedding dress fittings.
Suddenly Vincent was surprised to hear my sudden statement. Benny straightened his seat and faced Asleena.
"What do you mean?" he asked with a sharp frown on her forehead. "Didn't we agree to a cooperation contract?"
I looked at Benny strangely. The thing was, I didn't expect Vincent's reaction to be unreceptive. I thought Vincent would immediately agree.
"You won't accept if I cancel the deal?" I folded her arms across her chest. She was now sitting on the sofa, next to Benny.
Vincent immediately laughed unexpectedly and threw away a glance. He shook his head repeatedly, feeling that dealing with Asleena was really draining his emotions and mind.
"We've been working together, and you agreed to it," Vinceny said after raising his head again. With a mocking lopsided smile, Benny continued, "Are you sure? Our marriage was your father's request."
Again. Just as I had suspected a moment ago, Vincent must have mentioned her father's request. I had been trying to get rid of the thought of her father's request since moments before telling Benny. Why did he remind her of it now?
I sighed heavily. "Don't mention my father's request. Why are you using that as a weapon?"
Vincent squinted at me as if he couldn't understand.
"Aish, you're so childish," Vincent commented, then laughed sarcastically for the umpteenth time. "You shouldn't think of yourself, Miss Asleena."
"Thinking of myself?" I felt slightly offended. "I agreed to our contract out of respect for my father's request. But looking at you... I can't imagine living together with you in one place-"
"Who said we'd be living together?" cut Vincent off immediately.
I paused, somewhat surprised at Vincent's words.
"You mean?"
"Did you forget or did you not read the information in the contract, that we are not living in the same place?" Vincent said in a sarcastic tone.
There was no answer from me.
For a fraction of a second, I was silent because she didn't expect it. I watched Vincent as if asking for a more detailed explanation. I thought Vincent was just joking, but there was no joke on his face at all.
"You're... not joking?" I asked. Then, after looking around the private dress fitting room and making sure no one was around, Asleena leaned toward Vincent. "Hey, don't talk out of turn. If we weren't in the same place, what would your family and my family think?"
Vincent just made a face as if he found it easy. "Of course we can. We can live in two apartments next to each other."
"Two different apartments?" I still couldn't imagine. I had never known what two different apartments looked like.
"Yes, one floor is only for those two apartments, no one else will see that we live in different places."
"Then... wait a minute, so you're saying we'll switch to living in one place every time family comes over?" I asked, trying to digest Benny's explanation.
Vincent nodded his head. "It's more like you're moving into my apartment."
"Me?!" My tone rose, unhappy. My eyes bulged almost in annoyance. "I move into your apartment, then into mine when the family comes home?"
"Who am I to move?" Vincrnt said to me.
Seeing Vincent who was really showing his rancid expression made mr furious.
"Why won't you budge at all?" I asked with a tone of anger.
Without caring about my anger, Vincent just shrugged his shoulders and acted indifferent. Vincent immediately took out his cell phone from his pants pocket after feeling a notification vibration.
Vincrnt watched the screen for a while with both eyebrows furrowed. Slowly, Vincent's gaze turned sharp, his expression vaguely surprised, and his jaw tightened instantly.
In front of Vincent, I had already noticed the change in gesture. Asleena, who was originally annoyed with Benny, gradually became curious. The irritation on her face faded gradually.
Asleena tilted her head slightly and watched Benny with a curious look. Instantly she felt uncomfortable as she felt that something was happening.
"What's wrong?" Asleena asked. "Are you in trouble? Therefore, you shouldn't-"
"I have to go. I'm sorry I can't be with you." Benny cut Asleena off and stood up immediately while putting his cell phone into his pocket.
Asleena looked up and looked at Benny in both astonishment and panic. There was a bad feeling in her heart at that moment. Before Benny took a step, Asleena immediately held her wrist spontaneously.
Benny stopped and looked at Asleena's hand on his wrist.
"What?" she asked.
"You're so rude," Asleena said, then removed her hand and stood in front of Benny. Her gaze turned irritated again. "You brought me here on the spur of the moment, and now you're just leaving? Leaving me alone?"
For a few moments Benny just watched Asleena's eyes. Somehow, even though it was vague, Benny could tell that Asleena was worried.
Benny quickly turned his attention away from Asleena. Benny didn't want to think too much that Asleena was worried.
"I have to go, the situation is urgent. You stay with Leon. He'll watch over you until you get home." Benny then looked the other way again and searched for where this boutique employee was.
Since no one appeared, Benny finally looked directly at Asleena again. Benny couldn't seem to resist the gesture of wanting to leave quickly.
"I'll call Miss Savandrian here. Later you just tell me your choice of dress," Benny said, continuing his previous words.
Before Asleena could say anything, Benny quickly walked away from her. Benny was really in a hurry as if he had something to do.
Asleena felt strange. As she watched Benny's retreating back, Asleena didn't move. Asleena knew there was something Benny was hiding at that moment.
"What happened to him?" she muttered.
***
Asleena's car arrived at Halmey's house.
At the doorstep of the house, when Asleena got out, Halmey was already waiting. Halmey's eyes were very curious about Asleena's arrival. Halmey held something in both her palms and looked repeatedly as Asleena stepped out of the car.
"Asleena, did you hear you had a wedding dress fitting?" Halmey suddenly approached Asleena with a swift movement and showed both sparkling eyes.
Asleena suddenly froze, watching Halmey in confusion.
"Why didn't you tell auntie?! So, what kind of wedding dress did you choose?" asked a very enthusiastic Halmey. Her hands even held Asleena's hands tightly.
Halmey was very strange. Asleena didn't know that Halmey had been waiting all this time.
Asleena watched Halmey. "Auntie has been waiting since before?" she asked, still not expecting Halmey to be waiting.
Halmey immediately nodded her head. "Of course, I can't wait to hear your story about the wedding dress fitting. Did you choose an expensive dress? A nice dress like a royal one?"
Halmey's question made Asleena wonder. So, Halmey had been waiting for her because she wanted to know if she got an expensive dress or not?
Asleena could hardly contain her laughter. This was something that Asleena had not expected.
"Auntie, why are you so excited to see me get a wedding dress? It's... just a wedding dress," Asleena said.
Halmey's expression instantly turned irritated after hearing Asleena's words. Halmey patted Asleena's right arm with an exasperated look.
"Hey, I had to make sure that you chose an expensive dress. You're getting the partner of a Handerson Group CEO! You can't-"
"Auntie, I'm the daughter of the owner of the Hudge Group," Asleena interrupted Halmey. "So Benny's wealth is nothing out of the ordinary for me."
Hearing Asleena's words made Halmey sigh heavily. Halmey looked at Asleena even more annoyed because she felt that Asleena's answer was not what she expected.
"You... of course it's a great thing. If the wealth of the two of you were to be combined, you would make an amazing couple," replied Halmey who spread her hands low at the end of the sentence. Her eyes sparkled again.
Asleena did not know how to respond to Halmey. In the end, Asleena did not want to answer the question about the wedding dress. Because, it would only remind Asleena of Benny who left her suddenly.
Asleena's curiosity returned briefly. What was Benny really doing at that time?
"I don't want to answer your question, you can see later when you're at our wedding," replied Asleena, not wanting to prolong the conversation.
As a result, Halmey gaped dumbfounded, not expecting that Asleena would dare to say that. The direction of her gaze moved to follow Asleena who stepped away from her.
Asleena really didn't want to talk about anything right now. As she walked into the house, Asleena rethought about Benny's actions earlier.
Damn. Her curiosity just wouldn't go away. Asleena was disturbed by Benny's sudden departure.
Finally, before actually entering the house, Asleena stopped walking. Asleena thought of something at that moment. If she couldn't calm down and wonder what Benny was doing, she had to find out.
Asleena finally took out her cell phone and searched for Rogger's contact information. She knew that Rogger must still be on his way.
Asleena hurriedly dialed Rogger's number and put the phone screen to her ear. After a few seconds of waiting, Asleena noticed her call was picked up.
"Hello, Miss Asleena. Is something the matter?" asked Rogger, there was a hint of panic in his words.
"No," Asleena replied. She hesitated to say her request. "I have a first order for you, Rogger."
"What orders, Miss?"
"Can you find out what Benny is doing now? You know he left me suddenly. I can't shake my curiosity."
