47.
VINCENT'S POV.
"What were you thinking? Your question is ridiculous. What did I call Robert for?" Amber asked, laughing at me.
I looked at Amber intently without saying anything. I seemed to be thinking about something very serious as he looked at Amber. I don't know what he was thinking about.
"I don't know why I think about things like that," I said again. She let out a long sigh as her shoulders slumped limply.
Amber kept furrowing her brow. She didn't understand why Benny was suddenly acting like that. I actually didn't want to think too much about Robert's arrival a few moments ago.
"But it's weird that that guy would suddenly come to this house. I mean, you guys haven't seen each other for years, right?" I asked, continuing his previous remark.
"I've never seen him before, but that doesn't mean I've contacted him," said Amber, sighing heavily.
While in front of Amber, I was still watching through her expression and doubtful eyes. I felt the anxiety in his heart not fading at all. The thought of someone who had been in a relationship with Asleena in the past coming back made Benny uneasy.
"Vincent, I didn't know that Robert would look for me like that. As you know, we've been separated for years. There's no way I would suddenly ask him to come when there's no need at all," I tried to explain calmly.
I immediately wiped myhis hair nervously, then looked away without lowering his hands from his waist. I didn't know how to calm his mind as he kept imagining all the possibilities about why Robert had come.
"You shouldn't question something that you already know the answer to," Amber replied, trying to calm me down.
"Yes... I know. But I don't know why it feels so strange that you never told me you were in a relationship," I said. "I mean, your relationship with someone in the past hasn't fully resolved your issues."
Amber sighed heavily when she heard my words. Asleena really didn't understand why Benny was still someone who thought nonsensical things.
"I don't know why you worry about things like that," Asleena said, her tone sounding somewhat annoyed. "My relationship with Robert hasn't been completely resolved. But with our relationship over, it means we both have nothing to do."
"That's your thinking, isn't it?" asked Benny.
Asleena frowned. She didn't answer yet.
"What if Robert still stubbornly wants to keep coming to you just to settle things?" Benny continued his argument.
Asleena laughed unexpectedly after hearing Benny's question.
"I won't let him come again, Benny. Why are you acting like this?" Asleena asked while watching Benny with an intense gaze.
Benny immediately misbehaved after Asleena said that. But Benny tried to hide the mischievous reaction on his face. Benny immediately turned his face in the other direction so that Asleena couldn't see his expression.
"Huh?" Asleena immediately smiled ignorantly when she noticed Benny's expression.
Feeling both curious and anxious, Asleena tilted her head to watch Benny's expression. As Benny tried to avert his face more and more, Asleena also shifted to the side and watched Benny's face more closely.
"Oh my. Are you feeling jealous?" Asleena immediately said with an ignorant smile that curved wide.
Hearing Asleena's question made Benny even more annoyed. Benny clucked as he waved his hand.
"Aish. You can't have a serious conversation. Why are you mocking me instead?" Benny grumbled in an annoyed tone of voice.
Asleena, who was originally annoyed with Benny, eventually laughed at him. Asleena couldn't hold back her mocking expression towards Benny until she burst out laughing.
"Because you're so funny! I was annoyed with you after asking such nonsensical questions! But now, look at your face..." Asleena pointed at Benny's face with an ignorant smile. She showed a teasing expression to Benny.
Benny didn't want to pay attention to Asleena. He immediately turned his body to avoid Asleena's teasing which was getting worse.
"Asleena, you know I'm annoyed with you," Benny said without looking and facing Asleena.
Asleena nodded her head without fading into a teasing smile. Asleena didn't expect Benny's behavior to be this childish.
"You shouldn't make fun of me like this, Asleena. I asked you about Robert, but you ended up making fun of me," Benny continued his grumbling remarks.
In the end, Asleena felt sorry for Benny who was very upset with her. Asleena straightened her head and let out a long sigh without fading into a smile.
"I know you're feeling very upset," Asleena replied later. "But I didn't contact Robert at all. I didn't feel that Robert could bother me."
Benny had already stepped up to the window that overlooked the side garden of the house. He had deliberately opened the window to let the fresh night air into their room.
"I'm not sure you won't melt away with Robert's presence." Benny denied Asleena's words.
Asleena's eyebrows rose as she moved closer to Benny. Asleena seemed to think for a moment, her idle brain was still active. She wanted to provoke Benny into getting upset and worrying about her.
"I don't know if I'll melt or not when Robert tries to get me back," Asleena replied.
At that moment Benny immediately looked at Asleena with both eyebrows furrowed. Benny looked at Asleena with the sharpness of a blade.
Asleena had expected Benny's reaction to be like that. That's why Asleena was very calm and not bothered by Benny's attitude.
"I also can't be sure that Benny will stop trying so hard to get me even if I reject him repeatedly," Asleena replied.
Benny increasingly looked at Asleena through an exasperated expression. His suspiciously narrowed eyes seemed to want to know how far Asleena would go to tease him.
Meanwhile, Asleena's steps arrived a few meters behind Benny. Asleena stopped and folded her arms across her chest. For a few seconds Asleena just looked at Benny without saying anything. But her ignorant smile remained curved quite wide.
"Maybe he won't stop trying, because I understand how Robert's character was during the time we were dating," Asleena said, continuing her previous sentence.
Benny immediately averted his eyes with an annoyed expression and exhaled a rough breath. Benny didn't expect that Asleena would be so happy to harass him with such insults.
"I don't know why you haven't stopped teasing me since earlier. Are you trying to make me even more jealous?" Benny insinuated Asleena without looking at the woman.
Asleena gaped in surprise as his facial expression instantly became serious. Asleena immediately smiled very wide with enthusiasm.
"Ah, you're jealous? You've been acting like a child since earlier because you're jealous?" Asleena teased later. "Why don't you just say to the point that you're jealous?"
Benny instantly realized what he had just said. His expression immediately changed as if he realized he was wrong. He didn't want to look at Asleena who was still arching a mocking smile at him.
"You do have a lot of prestige. Unfortunately, you can't hide that from me," Asleena replied with a proud smile.
Benny chuckled again before he finally turned around and walked very quickly to leave Asleena. Benny deliberately did not want to look at Asleena's face.
"Never mind. I can't discuss this with you now. You're being annoying," Benny grumbled as he walked away.
Asleena held Benny's hand as he passed right next to her. Asleena pulled Benny's body to face her.
"Why are you leaving? Didn't you want to get my hug?" Asleena asked in a serious tone.
Benny looked at Asleena's hand holding his wrist. Then the direction of his gaze shifted to Asleena's expression.
"Your hug?" Benny asked.
Asleena nodded. She deliberately provoked Benny using her tenderness.
"Of course. I can hug you and make your irritation subside," Asleena replied.
Benny's facial expression actually showed that he wanted to accept Asleena's request. But his body gestures seemed to want to avoid and deny her request. Benny remained silent, wearing an annoyed expression, but his hands slowly stretched low in front of him.
"Ah, alright. You want to get my hug apparently," Asleena replied later.
Without saying anything else, Asleena moved closer to Benny while spreading her arms. Asleena then blended into Benny's body and brought the man into her arms.
"Oh my. You really are a child."
