VINCENT'S POV
"What did you just say?" asked Amber who immediately showed her annoyance to Robert. He had not answered Benny's question.
"I was just wondering if Vincent knew about the package I sent you. If you're hiding it from him, doesn't that mean you're secretly keeping the memories with your ex-lover?" Robert quipped with a lopsided smile.
I was still frowning as he looked at Robert and Amber in turn. I felt even worse after hearing Robert's question. I stopped my gaze on Amber.
As long as I looked at Amber, I knew that she was uncomfortable. Benny also realized that Amber would not be able to answer right away. Moreover, Robert's figure became intimidating for Asleena.
"Don't say something silly. Since when did you send a package for me?" asked Amber who was finally able to speak after her lips had been frozen.
Instantly the smirk on Robert's face faded slowly. Robert's expression changed to show confusion.
"Don't lie, Amber. You must have gotten the package box I sent for you," Robert replied in a low but emphatic tone. As if he had begun to feel threatened by Asleena's presence.
"If you can't tell the truth, you'd better keep quiet." Amber said emphatically. She had to lie to protect herself. "I didn't receive any packages from you. If I had, I would have contacted you and gotten mad at you, right?"
Amber words made Robert even more confused. Robert didn't seem to believe what Ambet had just said. He didn't know whether she was lying or not, although the look on her face showed great conviction.
"Hey. No way. I saw that the delivery man had already delivered the package to your company's security guard, so he should have found a way to give it to you," Robert replied, still trying to deny Amber words.
Amber chuckled as she snorted and looked away. She had to continue her charade to avoid my suspicion. After all, the package from Robert had been thrown away by Roger in the middle of nowhere.
Amber deliberately used the excuse of not receiving any packages. Because even if Robert suspected she was lying and wanted to test where the package Amber received was, she could still protect herself by not having the package box by her side.
"I already told you. You know how much I hate you now. If I had received the package from you, I would have been angry with you. Right?" asked Asleena as she put her hands on her waist.
Robert became increasingly agitated, but he let go of his anxiety with a cynical laugh. Robert brushed his hair back and looked the other way for a while.
"No way. You must have lied on purpose because you didn't want Benny to find out about it," Robert argued, then soon his expression became one of realization. "Ah! Or did the security guard actually steal the package from me? Shit!"
Hearing Robert's words made Amber feel a bit panicked. Asleena didn't expect Robert to think about that. She wanted her company's security guard to get into trouble with Robert. Because then who knows what Robert would do to the security guard.
"Don't blame my company's security guard, he's innocent," Asleena argued firmly. "It could be that my company's security guard had put your package in the special storage area, but then someone who thought it was for him, took it instead."
Robert frowned but said nothing. He looked at Asleena as if what she had just said was ridiculous.
"I don't care if the security guard stole it or someone took it by accident like you said," Robert replied, then paused. "I didn't know that you didn't receive my package. You should have received it!"
Asleena was a bit taken aback to hear Robert emphasize his words. Asleena had no idea that Robert would be that annoyed just because he didn't receive the package.
Benny, who was fed up with the conversation between Robert and Asleena, sighed loudly. His voice distracted Asleena and Robert simultaneously.
"I can't stand this kind of talk. Why do you keep pressing Asleena?" asked Bsnny, no longer caring whether Asleena had received the box from Robert or not.
"I'm trying to help you by showing you whether this woman is lying or not," replied Robert, who took a step in front of Benny and raised his chin. As if giving a challenging gesture.
"I don't need your help. You'd better leave now. Don't you know you're not wanted here?" asked Benny who deliberately spoke to the point.
Robert didn't look surprised by Benny's words. In the end, after Benny said that, Robert did not want to argue.
At the same time, Roger suddenly came from nowhere. Roger immediately rushed over to where Benny and Asleena were sitting. He pulled Robert's hand with a slight jerk of annoyance.
"Sorry, you have no business being here. I warned you to leave, but you trapped me outside just so you could come to this seat!" Roger said exasperatedly, but the way he spoke was still quite calm.
Robert was surprised at Roger's sudden arrival. But at that moment, Robert didn't have time to put up a fight.
"Roger, take that man away from us," Benny ordered.
Roger nodded obediently. Without further ado, he pulled Robert's hand away from where Benny and Asleena were sitting.
Robert only looked at Asleena who also said nothing. Robert didn't say anything as long as his hand was pulled away by Roger. But before his steps were completely away from Asleena, Robert had time to say something.
"You should have kept the package I sent you, Asleena. You should still have the memory with me," Robert said.
After Robert had moved away from Asleena, Asleena and Benny were left. Neither of them said anything for a few seconds. They both looked tired from dealing with Robert's attitude that had bothered them since his arrival yesterday.
Asleena and Benny sat down on their respective chairs while exhaling harshly. Asleena didn't expect Robert to go that far. Luckily, Asleena had taken action earlier by throwing away the box of packages sent by Robert.
Also, Asleena could think quickly to lie to Robert.
"Asleena. Why doesn't he stop bothering you?" Benny asked after the silence.
Asleena looked at Benny's face which looked a bit sluggish. Benny also looked fed up after Robert's arrival yesterday.
"I don't know," Asleena replied. "I never contacted him, but he's acting like it now."
Benny leaned his back against the back of the chair. He looked at Asleena intensely.
"Did you really not receive a package from Robert?" Benny asked for confirmation.
Asleena nodded her head. "Of course I did. Why would I lie?"
Benny let out a sigh of relief. But his expression still looked emotionless and calm.
"I'm glad you didn't receive anything from Robert. He would have gone further if you had received anything from him even once," Benny retorted.
He was right. Asleena was thinking the same thing. The biggest reason why Asleena didn't want to care too much about Robert's confiscated goods was that Robert would definitely bring it up. Asleena tried to create a very thick boundary for Robert so that he couldn't get close to her.
"I already gave Robert a warning, why does he keep acting like such a jerk," Asleena said with exasperation.
