12- The Grave Household
"Anyways, Where are you going for your honeymoon?" Mr Grave asked.
"Nowhere." Red said.
"To our villa." Lucifer interrupted. "Why there? Go somewhere else. How about New York?" Mr Grave recommended it.
"No." Red quickly said, making everyone look at her.
"I don't like going outdoors much... I asked Lucifer to go there."
Red made up an excuse, not wanting to go to America.
"I see. When are you going then?" Mrs Grave asked.
"There's another fashion show next week. And since Iris loves them, we will leave after it." Lucifer said.
"Aw Lucifer, Thank you! I love you so much." Red thanked him.
"It's my duty, love to keep her happy for my remaining breaths." Lucifer smiled.
The compliment made both of them laugh to hear such words but they kept their posture.
"God, Lucifer. I didn't know you were so charming." Mr Grave said.
"I guess now I can say he has traits like you." Mrs Grave let out an exhale of relief, finished her tea.
"Like us." Mr Grave corrected her.
"Oh, come on, Iris. I will show you around. And Yeah, you guys are staying for the night." Mrs Grave announced.
"But, Mom-"
"No buts, tomorrow is Sunday and you can't make an excuse."
She took Red with her, showing her the mansion excitedly.
"We are very happy for you, Son." Mr Grave said.
"Because I am married?" Lucifer chuckled dryly.
"Because you have chosen a perfect girl for you."
"I know..." Lucifer said, meaning his word to the content of their deal.
"You still can't see her worth now, Lucifer but believe me. One day, she will be engraved on your soul." Mr Grave said.
Lucifer hummed, oblivious of the fact it happened.
"Fiona would be-"
"Father." Lucifer called his father infuriated, straightening his back.
"Don't mention her name ever again." He warned.
"Lucifer, your words cannot obliterate her existence." Mr Grave said seriously.
"Then eradicate her name just like her being." He hissed, scowling, barely controlling his anger.
"Luci-"
"The same way she left me." He said with tears brimming in his eyes.
"You have a son. Focus on what you have left, not what you lost." Lucifer said, standing up.
"And I don't want anyone to mention her ever again- not even you guys. Especially in front of Iris." He spoke authoritatively.
"Lucifer, you can pretend but none of us can remove her from our hearts." Mr Grave said but he belittled them and walked inside and bumped into Red.
"Ah, there you are." Red grinned.
She noticed the tear in his eyes, glimmering like crystals and asked.
"Are you alright, Lucifer?" She asked worriedly.
"I am fine." He forced a smile.
"Are you sure?" She asked again. He nodded.
"Mom is showing me your childhood picture and gosh can you stop being so perfect?" She said, exhaling.
"You have to bear with it, Milady." He smiled and ruffled her hair.
He was about to walk away but Red held his arm, she opened her mouth to say something but no words came out.
Before Lucifer could ask or turn to her, she let go of him and walked away.
At night the couple went to their room.
Since they are in the Grave's mansion they have to share the same room.
Red was sitting on the couch, using her phone then Lucifer came without a shirt. Red eyes widened as she blushed furiously to see his glorious body.
She gawked at him, looking at himself in the mirror, making his hair messy and looking more heart throbbing than he already is.
"Are you trying to flex your hot body?" She asked, not removing her eyes.
"Wanna touch it?" He teased, turning to her.
"Hell yeah, I do."
He chuckled and shook his head, "I don't sleep with a shirt."
"Meaning I have to share the bed with your half naked self?" She asked.
He nodded. "What do you want to do huh? Consummate our marriage?" She irked.
"Now dear wife..." He walked to her, making her heart thump against her chest.
She shuddered, blinking at him as each step he came closer, made her flutter.
He put his hand on the side of her and stroked the side of her face with the other.
"It's not my fault then I am bestowed with such handsome looks." He smirked.
"Shut up." She pouted, pushing him away and getting up.
"O~ I can see the spell I cast on you." He cooed in her ears.
"Lucifer. Don't." Red frowned.
"Okay, but I still won't sleep with a shirt."
"We will put a pillow in between."
"Done."
Lucifer noticed her scarlet face and teased her more.
"Red is red." Her mouth gaped and she turned away.
He laughed, sitting on the bed.
"Honestly woman... you are adorable." Lucifer said, looking at her.
"Don't tell me you haven't slept with a man before?" He asked.
"Of course, I have but not with an ancient Greek God such as yourself."
"Thank you for the compliment, Love but I am sleepy. Come if you want or else the couch is free."
"No thanks." She mumbled and put a pillow in between as they both laid down to sleep but Lucifer called her.
"Red..."
"Hmm?"
"How many lovers do you have?"
"I had three boyfriends. One in highschool, that shit cheated on me. Second one was from university. We broke up because I lost my interest in him."
"The recent one was from my work. We were doing an internship at the same place but he left California and I waited for him for a while but it's been two years since then and I don't stay on things or people."
"Where did he go?"
"I don't know. He just left. Vanished." She made a booming gesture with her hand and chuckled.
"Lucifer..."
"Hmm?"
"You can trust me."
"In what context?"
She smiled softly and turned to him and they both faced each other.
"As a friend. I know we have a brief time together but I could be your letter box."
"My letter box...?"
"I used to send my father letters, hoping on his long journey, he might read them. I wrote everything in my heart on them and put them on that letter box."
"So the letter box contains all my secrets, desires, sadness and happiness in it. You can consider me as one." She said earnestly. He would normally laugh these words but this time he asked,
"And what if I want to add a letter and the box disappears one day?"
"It wouldn't. Believe me, just search for it and you will find it and add the letter."
"We will see about it later." He said, curving his lips upward and turning to the opposite side as they both fell asleep.
Waking up in the middle of the night, Lucifer found the other side empty. He sat up, looking around for Red but she wasn't here.
Getting up, he walked out of the room, looking for her only to find her in the kitchen drinking wine, sitting on the counter while swinging her legs.
"Red." He called her.
"Oh, Why did you wake up?" She asked, taking a sip.
"What are you doing here?" He asked, coming closer.
"Couldn't sleep so I thought of wandering around and ended up here." She shrugged.
He hummed and took out a glass, she poured him some wine as they began to drink in silence. She was sitting while he was leaning beside her.
"Lucifer..." She called, putting her glass on the side.
"What?" He asked.
"What is this selfish purpose you spoke of?" She asked, lowering her head.
"Why do you care?"
"Is this the deception of Mr and Mrs Grave?"
"They were bothering me for a while. It would silence them and you know what the other reason is." He said. She turned to him.
"And what do you think they will feel after our divorce?" Her voice was low with a glint of sadness.
"I don't know. But surely won't force me after it." He shrugged, turning his face to her.
"They will be heartbroken." She told him.
"I know but we can't go back now, Red."
"I am not heartless. I know we are using each other for our purpose but what's the fault of people around us?"
"Ignore it. They are my parents, I will take care of them. You focus on our deal." He muttered, straightening his back.
"Mrs Grave was utterly enthusiastic, she is a kind woman. I don't want to break her heart."
"Too bad, you will do it." He said monotonously.
She narrowed her eyes at Lucifer who was too casual about her miserable words and it evoked wrath in her.
She puffed and got down.
"You... You truly are a puppet." She scowled.
"Hey. What did I do?" He asked, oblivious.
"You don't care about your parents? They will be sorrowful for their son's fate." She snapped.
"I told you, I will take care of it. There's no need for you to meddle in between."
"Oh is that so? How are you going to do it?" She put her hand on her waist.
"Have you forgotten about my persuasive skills, dear wife?" He asked amusingly.
"Of course. What else can you do?" She rolled her eyes off and picked her wine, drinking it.
"You didn't have much choice other than complying so stop whining." He sighed, pouring himself some more wine.
He walked and clicked his glass with hers, "Savor this opportunity."
He smirked and finished his drink in one go and handed her the glass, leaving her all alone in the kitchen.
She watched him leave. I guess you are right.
Why would I care when I have nothing to do with you? She thought and after finishing her drink, she walked after him as they both slept.
