39- Shattered
Staring intensely at each other, Lucifer's breath synchronized with Red who was left with the inability to speak but still feeling the sweet affliction stirring her mind.
Breathless, Lucifer leaned down, brushing his lips over her neck and began to say huskily,
"Today, I am letting you go, Red. But, If we ever met in this life again. Nothing in this universe can stop you from being mine."
'And I told her about the heart which was crazy about her.' Lucifer thought.
And the intensity of his final words stole my strength to come back, knowing my despair will bring him nothing but destruction. Red thought, contemplating his damaged form.
And with that, He took a step back as a tear fell from his eyes, gritting his teeth to contain his heartbreak.
He wore his glasses to hide his tears and left her all alone at the airport and she couldn't help but to notice the tear which fell from his eye.
"You cried... you lost." Red whispered to herself.
Lucifer was leaving, his mind was in a state of wreck.
"I cried. Perhaps I don't have enough courage to hide my emotions anymore. I don't know if she has seen my tears or not but now I am nothing but a slave... because I love her."
Red's smile turned into a sad one and her heartache to hear his heavy words as they were too much for her to swallow. She lowered her head, crushing her feelings and whispered to herself.
"I wish you could have stopped me."
Lucifer who was about to leave stopped in his tracks. "And I can't leave, unless I know if she has cried or not." He turned to her again as his step led him back to where she was and his eyes widened.
His heart skipped a beat to see a tear falling from her eyes with a sad smile which she quickly wiped by mumbling something he can't make and left.
"I have always known about my tears but how can I turn ignorant to hers?" He asked himself, losing his senses.
He couldn't understand as if his whole being stopped functioning.
The moment stopped and he was watching her leave and he each step pushed him inside a fiery fire which burned him mercilessly in pain.
'She cried and at that moment I knew she loved me as much as I loved her and she was leaving.'
Another rolled down his cheek, he was left with the incapability to move or do something, watching her leave as a river of tears fell from his eyes and he fell on his knees, watching her leave.
He wanted to scream that he loves her. He wanted to call out to hear and take her back with him but he couldn't.
She was leaving and he watched her leave.
I wanted to bring her back. What about the deal which happened between us? The right of it didn't let me go and call her mine even at the point when I am hers and she is mine.
He curled his hand in a fist, lowering his head and sobbing silently to himself with endless tears streaming down his face. He wanted to stop her but no voice other than a sob escaped his lip.
He wanted to hold her but his strength was deprived from him. Intoxicating his whole being in the agony he never felt before,
She was leaving.
And he let her go.
With the tears of her name, he forced his heavy steps to leave the airport and run away. He couldn't stay at the point where he watched her leave. It was too much for him. He ran to his car, hid inside and broke into loud sobs, hiding his face in his hand and soaking his hands with his tears which he cried as the reminder of his hopelessness.
He lost the one he loves. Everything crumbled and before he could gather the scattered pieces in his hands... It was too late as he left the airport. Defeated, helpless, ruined.
"How could I have stopped her? She was my love, not mine that I hold any rights over."
...The suffocation of my heart was an instrument of a devastating melody...
Red lowered her head, shattering her feelings and whispered to herself, "I wish you could have stopped me."
She said and turned to leave and when she turned her back to leave a tear rolled down her cheek initiating a stream of them as she began to cry while leaving.
She knew when she saw his tears that he loved her. It's not that she doesn't know.
She knew about it because each passing moment which pulled them apart and made Lucifer miserable was pursued by her.
But along with that she also noticed a strange uneasiness in his love. The insanity which could burst anytime yet she wanted to evoke it because she can't take it anymore. Not knowing if he realized her grief or ultimate ravage or not. She lowered her head, clutching her handbag close to her chest, wailing while leaving.
It feels like someone has attached stones to my feet because I can't walk anymore as the thorns are pricking my soul. She explained how she felt while leaving.
She cried, in hope, he might have seen them.
She didn't dare to turn, in fear, if she turned and didn't find him there.
Her steps halted, in expectation, he might call her and she will leave the whole world on his one call.
She prayed, in desperation, he might stop her at the last moment.
She began to cry out loud, wanting Lucifer to stop her and call her his. Tears fell from her eyes by each step, sobbing for Lucifer to come to her but he didn't.
If we ever meet again, please don't give me the pathetic excuse of right. Our relationship was never based upon rights, it was a connection of hearts.
Then what kind of love was it which couldn't even break the laws of rights and come to me?
"And I waited for him till the end but I didn't lose hope... because I loved him. How can I expect something without doing anything myself?"
Red stopped in her tracks, thinking he might be there where she left him.
Maybe he saw me leaving and didn't have the courage to stop me- I will do it.
Maybe he saw my tears but couldn't bring himself to express- I will do it.
Maybe he was there. I left him and couldn't do anything to reach me- I will do it.
He'd be there, to the point where I left him, breaking and I will save him.
She left everything, turned back and ran. Red ran back, panting, smiling he'd be there but when she reached the point where she left him.
He was no longer there...
