16- Vague Intentions
~ 1 Week Later ~
"Has our guest arrived?" Lucifer asked, walking after Harry after a meeting.
"Yes, Sir. She is at your home."
"Hmm. Good." He hummed, using his phone.
"By the way, Sir... Are you sure about it?" Harry asked.
"What do you mean?" Lucifer stopped, turning to Harry.
"Sir this method and-"
"Listen Harry, I have to do it. There's no going back now."
"Sir, you are turning into a person you never were." Harry was concerned for his Boss who lost the track of virtue.
"I know but I can't take it anymore."
"When you can't see her being someone else then why did you let her go in the first place?" Harry asked.
"I am already drowning in consternation, Harry. Don't immerse myself more."
But deep down Lucifer knows the answer of why he let her go.
"Sir..."
"I am leaving to meet our guest. You take care of things here." Lucifer ordered and left for home.
This is not me, someone who will fall so low. Why can I never forget her last glance?
Those tears have my name, they can't exist for someone else!
There's no going back Lucifer, you have burned the way back.
Lucifer looked at his reflection in the mirror with a scowl of extreme affliction he couldn't show. With a growl, he washed his face and put up his tempting facade and went to meet his guest he called all the way from California.
He entered the living room, looking at a certain elegant lady with an enthralling gaze but he was professional in swaying as he walked closer and kissed her hands,
"Hello, Ms Lopez. It's an honor to host such a lady as yourself." He smiled decently.
"Ah, Thank you, Mr Grave." She smiled back as they sat down.
"I am compelled to espy your grace." He complimented, slowly a smirk creeping upon his lips along with those persuasive eyes.
"Your charm is strong. I must say." She said,
"I know." He smirked.
"Anyways, Could you tell me the reason for this special session?" She asked.
"Be my shrink." He offered.
"We agreed for one session. And why me from all the way from America-"
"Because I need you to be here whenever I want."
She opened her mouth to reply to his absurd words but he continued, "For a session."
"I decline." She replied, rolling her eyes off.
"I have heard a lot about you, Ms Lopez and I believe you know why I have called you here and why I will do it in the future as well."
Lucifer leaned back but did not remove his eyes from her. Ava came that time and left after serving them tea.
April took a sip of her tea and responded.
"That's why I have declined. I keep my clients' information confidential."
"I guess that's enough fakeness when you have come to the point." He sighed
"Hmm?"
"How does Erich know Red?" Lucifer asked, changing his manipulative voice into a dominant one.
"What?" She asked, being oblivious.
"I don't know."
"Neither you, nor me is stupid enough to believe this lie, April. You were his shrink, you must have known why he wanted her."
"Why do you care? They are married now, don't meddle in their life when you can't accept Red with her real name." She mocked.
"Ours was a different story, definitely not concerning you."
"Then why involve me in this one?" She smirked.
"All four of us are interconnected."
"More like a web, Mr Grave." She scoffed.
"And now it's time for you to join my part."
"And what if I refused?"
"I will simply force you." He said deadpanned, making April's heart skip a beat but she never showed it.
"How so?" She challenged, licking her lips.
"You have created Red's fake identity, you can't do anything to me." Lucifer let out a suppressed laugh, held her chin and leaned in.
"It will take you a lifetime still you won't be able to prove it, Sweetheart." He said victoriously, staring deep into her black gaze.
Moving closer, his hand wrapped around her neck, pulling her close to his face, mixing his breath with hers.
"Love, Erich used and threw you like a tissue. The moment Red came back, he left you." Lucifer provoked April.
"Why did you call me here?" She whispered, cautious of his intentions.
"Be my shrink. Do as I say." He commanded, making her flinch.
"No." She said, putting her hand over his chest and pulling him back.
"Five Questions. Five Answers." He said seriously.
"What-" He grabbed the envelope on the table and showed her five pictures of how April used to give Erich therapy by 'his' ways.
A rush of horror swept across April's face to see it, dreading to face the consequences of defying him now.
"H-how do you.." Loss at words, she couldn't believe he would manage to get pictures.
"You better comply with my demands, Ms Lopez if you value your job." He threatened huskily on her neck, making her shudder in the fight.
He moved away and she asked in a faint tone, "What do you want?"
"Answers." He put his one leg over the other, giving her a cold gaze.
"1. For how long does Erich know Red?" He asked, his voice supreme, making her obey at one demand.
"Seven Years... I guess."
"2. Does he love her?"
"He does... but doesn't accept it and considers her as his need." A painful answer for Lucifer.
"3. Will he keep her happy?" That's what he cares the most about.
"More than anything." April replied sincerely.
"4. Did he marry her forcefully?"
"Rumors say they have a contract marriage. I don't know about it."
"Lastly, Will Red ever be happy with him?"April sighed.
"Erich made a big mistake to let Red know that he knows her. It's the glitch of their relationship."
"Who wants to live with a person you barely know but he knows everything about you? From my guess, if they didn't work out in a year then they never will."
April explained their situation to Lucifer to which he hummed and nodded.
"But Red surely misunderstood Erich." April mumbled.
"Hmm? Did you say something?" Lucifer asked. "Ah, no."
"Will Red ever be able to love him?" He asked, tone finally softening a bit.
"Time will tell.... By the way, Can I ask you something, Lucifer?"
"What?"
"Why did you let her go?" His lips curved upward sadly as he stood up and replied.
"I had to."
"You never want to leave her-" Lucifer cut April off.
"But how can I keep her when she is not mine?"
"Then why are you looking desperately for her?" She asked.
"For a glimpse."
"All this hopelessness for a glance?"
"That's all I need." He said.
"I guess we are done for now Ms Lopez. See you next time."
"And what if I told Erich everything?" She asked.
"I believe you should know when I can possess three years old pictures then I can do anything." He smirked.
"Why are you doing this after three years? Why now when her name is attached with someone else and she is starting a new life?" April asked, standing up as well.
"To know the price of some tears and the fate of some talks." Lucifer turned to her as his heart was pained by anguish.
"Which talk's fate?"
If we ever met in this life again. Nothing in this universe can stop you from being mine.
"They will be revealed when the time comes."
"What do you mean?"
"What is Erich to you anyways?" He avoided her question.
"My ex-client. What else?" She shrugged.
"Then why did you let him use your body?"
"He collected all love for Red inside him and took lust on every girl he could find so he wouldn't hurt Red by his animalistic urges." Her words made Lucifer grit his teeth in irk.
"Then why did he-" Lucifer's voice raised in exasperation but he regained his posture and sighed.
"No, it's nothing. Why did you give him the permission?" He asked.
"You should have known he is the notorious playboy, every girl wants him. He is every girl's dream but he has one who isn't in his fate."
"Why didn't you contact him later?"
"Is this an interrogation session now?" She joked.
"Consider it whatever you want. Just answer." his stern voice came.
"Things got too far, there was no choice but to break ways... just like your condition with Red." She said sadly, taking a step closer.
"Ours was different." He uttered, looking away.
"Then tell me, Erich never accepted it. Do you love her?"
"I am not obliged to answer."
"There's no use in avoiding it."
"Mohabbat toh dil ki ibadat hai
Yeh kissi murti ki mohtaj nahi" He told her about a couplet in Urdu language. Astonished by his accent, she was impressed even if she didn't understand his words.
"Where do you learn it?"
"My assistant's ex was a poet, she taught me. You can find many Urdu language speakers in England."
"What does it mean?"
"Its translation goes: Love is the worship of the heart....
It does not require a statue.."
Lucifer turned his back on her, "I hope it gave you your answer." And left.
April smiled softly, captivated by his words and whispered to herself, "Yeah... it did..."
