Hellhole
I wake up laying on Jackson's sofa, I look up rubbing my eyes to see I had a white blanket placed over me which did make me smile. Jackson must have not wanted to wake me up, I begin to look around, but I couldn't see him anywhere. The board with the map was still where it was last time, in red ink sat writing but before I could begin to read what it says, I hear noise from what I'm guessing is the kitchen.
Jackson was playing music where I could hear him singing, I shake my head sitting up more before a memory starts to fill my head. When I went upstairs the night my dad was taken and my life changed forever, I heard him singing in the kitchen whilst cooking. This does make me look down with a sigh a little, maybe if I had waited in the kitchen a little longer, I could have helped.
Before I could dwell on that thought any longer, the singing gets closer and in seconds, a happy looking Jackson stood by the door holding food and wearing an apron.
'Good morning, Ally, it's great to see you awake." He smiles walking over to me with the food, he places the warm plate of eggs and bacon on my lap.
'Someone is very cheerful in the morning." I smile my voice still rough from sleep, he shrugs his shoulders walking back into the kitchen but soon emerges again with another plate of food for him and a cup of drink. 'Is it just a theme that people who work for my mum insist on making fresh breakfast every day, I mean I'm not complaining but isn't this a lot to do?" I ask with a little laugh; he takes a seat beside me placing my drink on the table with a smile.
'I mean they always say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but you're right I normally just get an energy bar and be done with it, that was until your mother began to make breakfast and my whole life changed." He says stuffing egg into his mouth as he spoke, I shake my head picking up my own fork to eat. 'But no, when I rang your mother last night and told her you fell asleep at my place and I think it's best if you stay here the night, she told me I needed to make sure that you had a good breakfast. She also made me take a photo of you asleep just to prove that you were okay, when you're finished, we have to head to the agency so that I can clock in but also so your mother can see you." He continues with little pieces of food dropping out of his mouth as he spoke, why did my mother go through all of that trouble just to make sure I was fine?
'Why do we have to go there?" I ask taking my first bite of food, I knew I'd have to go back to that place at some point, but I was trying to stay away as long as possible.
'Trust me, if there was any chance that I could keep us away from that I would, but we really don't have any other choice. Your mother wants to see you for some reason, I'll make sure we aren't there too long." He says sending me a smile before going back to his food, while I just stare ahead thinking.
Why would my mother want to see me? Perhaps she's found out that Jackson and I went to see Mario's mother? What's going to happen if she did find out? No, there is no way that she'd be able to find that out as we've been so secretive about the whole thing, but thinking of it, she is a secret spy. Maybe she's made some progress and is about to tell me she knows where dad is!
'Ally, I'd eat your breakfast before it gets cold." Jackson nudges me slightly which snaps me from my thoughts, I smile taking another bite from my food as he goes for seconds.
After I was done with breakfast, we quickly went back to my mum's house so I could get ready and grab my contacts. I know I agreed to wear the sunglasses yesterday, but I knew hardly anyone was going to see me but if I'm going to my mother's work, a ton of people would see me! In no time, we were walking through security of her workplace, Jackson sends an annoyed look to the guy at the desk before leading me through the main doors.
'What was that all about?" I ask looking over at him as we went, he only replies with a shake of his head before his hand goes to my back to lead me up even more stairs.
Before I could question him more, the offices from before come into view and I'm quickly walked down the corridor. The door to my mother's office was open as we walk over, her and Reece in there having a very quiet conversation. But as they both clock that we were standing there, the conversation stops, and they smile over to us. Do you think he and her have ever done anything they shouldn't? If so, that would mean she would have cheated on my father!
'Good morning you two, we were just talking about you." My mother smiles as Jackson finally stops pushing me and I stand in the middle of the room, I look over at him where he sends me a little smile.
'Do I want to know?" I ask turning back to look at my mother, she sends me a smile before taking a look at her paper. 'Now what's happened, the only reason I'm ever called here is because some awful thing has happened?" I ask crossing my arms over my chest, I won't lie and say the thought of her cheating on my father caused me to grow annoyed.
'No, nothing awful has happened but we do need to talk." She says opening up a file that was sat on desk, Reece looks down at his watch before taking a look at Jackson.
'Why don't you go sign yourself in, while you're there grab us a coffee." Reece says looking at Jackson with a bored expression, Jackson went to move but I grab him by the hand and pull him back.
'Can't you do that, or are you so important that you're unable to get your own coffee? I don't see waiter written on Jackson's head." I say with a raised eyebrow, Reece looks taken back that I spoke back to him where he looks over at my mother. 'If you're sending him away because you don't want him to hear this conversation, I can assure you that I will spare him no detail." I smirk which also makes my mother's eyes go wide, Reece clears his throat before walking out of the room to probably grab that coffee.
'I'll be back in a second, I do have to sign in." Jackson says as I look over at him, he mouths thank you before slipping off out of the room leaving my mother and I alone.
'I don't want to assume but is there something going on between you and Jackson?" My mother asks which did annoy me, I turn back to look at her with disgust on my face.
'Well thank you mother, I'm glad you think I'm the type to go off with any man that I met what a week ago, no there is nothing going on between me and Jackson. I just don't like that your colleague, thinks he can treat Jackson like he's, his servant." I spit back at her just over this whole situation before it began, I knew I didn't want to come here for a reason. 'Now can you hurry up and enlighten me on why I'm standing here, the sooner I can leave this hellhole the better." I say crossing my arms once again, she also clears her throat before looking down at her papers.
'We need to discuss what's happening back home, your friend Peter called into the police and has reported you missing. The police already rang me where I have explained the situation to the lead constable. He has put who used to be his best detective on the case, it's keeping him and also your friend busy. But they are getting too close, we need to set up a distraction that will lead them away from this. Which means we need your help." She tells me but I just give her a look, Peter's going through all that trouble to find me. 'We need to take a photo of you somewhere, as your hair is a different colour now, you'll have to wear a wig. We're thinking of you in- 'she says but I cut her off holding my hand up.
'I'm gonna stop you right there, I don't know why you thought that I would help you in any way to make my friend believe something bad has happened to me." I say shaking my head at her, maybe she is okay with making people believe something bad but I'm not like that.
'But you need to do this Ally, if we don't sort this problem out- 'she says but once again I cut her off before she could finish.
'This problem wouldn't have been a problem if it wasn't for you, you're the one that decided to do this job so it's your responsibility to sort all of this mess out. I didn't want any part in this, like you said I don't have the clearance or experience to help you in your investigation, so I won't be helping you here. I'm just going to stay in your house like you want me to, while you find dad." I say looking behind me to see Jackson standing there smiling, yes, I can leave now. 'Now I'm getting out of this hellhole, but I wish you all the luck in the world with this problem." I say with a final smile before walking out of the room, where Jackson sends me a wink before following beside me.
