Unpredictable
Within a few minutes, the quiet dirt road was now littered with agents from my mother's work and crews to check over my mum and Reece. Jackson and I were off to the side letting everyone get on, I wanted to start looking for Derek, but Jackson had to remind me, my mum doesn't know that Jackson and I have been looking into this when we were told no. If I just start casing this place and not looking terrified, she's going to know I've been in situations like this before.
I lean up against Jackson's car bonnet with my arms crossed, Jackson spoke with Alison who was still pretty shaken up from the whole ordeal. I begin to look around the surrounding area, the owner of the farm was stood by his fence with shock filling his expression, I bet this was the last thing he thought would happen to him this morning. I than move my eyes down to one of the exits of the lane, where it was my turn to feel intense shock roll through my body.
The car which Jackson and I were following before we came here was stood at the end of the road, my eyes go wide as I look into the car and spot Mario in the front seat. He was staring at all the many officers with their cars, anger clear on his expression. I didn't want to cause a scene and risk the possibility of Mario getting the vibe that someone had saw him, so as Jackson was still close to me, I take ahold of his hand and pull him closer to me. This action does take him by surprise as he looks over at me.
'Don't make it obvious, Mario is sat right at the bottom of the lane." I say in a hush speech so no one else could also alert him, Jackson looks at me for a second before turning to make it seem he was just walking around still on the phone and not paying any attention.
But I did see his face flash with shock when he peered down the lane, without uttering a word, he pulls me to stand as we still had our hands interlocked and guided me to walk deeper into the sea of people. He continues to weave us through people and head closer to the ambulance, where my mother and Reece were both being treated. My mother soon looks up and spot us walking over, her face holding confusion as she clocks my worried face.
'We can't make a scene but Mario, is in that black car at the end of the lane." Jackson informs them while keeping a bored expression on his face, he was trying to make it seem to everyone around them that everything was still normal.
'Jackson, take Ally back there and stand guard, Reece, get Hunter and Adam to calmly approach the car." My mum says springing into action immediately, both Jackson and Reece nod their heads before getting to work.
Jackson puts his phone in his pocket whilst pulling me around, the feeling of people dragging me from pillar to post was nothing new anymore. But in this moment, I was so terrified on what Mario could do, that I just allowed Jackson to take me somewhere safe. He takes me to stand behind the ambulance, but we both stand to the side which enables us both to see what was happening.
'What could happen if he spots them before we want him to spot them?" I ask a little fearful, I haven't been in a situation where they are approaching the very dangerous guy which they are after before.
'Mario is a very unpredictable guy, if we're not careful he could either make a run for it or take a more drastic measure." Jackson explains whilst his eyes still remained on the scene in front of us, his comment which I hoped would calm me down only did the opposite.
I walk over and take his arm whilst getting closer to him, I can't deny that I don't feel much safer when I'm close to Jackson. There have been many situations which has put me in danger, most of the time because I stick my nose in things I was specifically told not to, but Jackson has always been there to make sure I didn't get hurt. He looks down at me for a second with a little smile, but before he could speak the sound of loud gunshots start to fill the area. Jackson immediately, tackled me so we both fall down the little ravine. I land on the floor with him on top of me, his body acting as a kind of human shield. I scream from freight as I hold onto his arms, even more gunshots soon fill the air while also screeching of tiers.
But as quickly as the sounds of the gunshots filled the air, they went silent as the sounds of a car getting further away fill the air. The silence which followed was deafening, I knew it was highly likely that Mario had got away, but I didn't even want to look up to see what damage he had left behind him. Jackson soon lifts his head up to look at me, his hand going to my cheek as he did so.
'Are you okay?" He asks looking me over slightly to make sure I wasn't bleeding from anywhere, but I wasn't hit by anything thanks to his quick thinking.
'I'm okay, are you okay?" I ask now getting worried for him, he jumped right in to save me putting his own life at risk. 'Please don't openly put yourself in danger to save me." I plead with him, my hand going to lay on top of his which was still placed on my cheek.
'That is my job Ally and besides, I can't let anything happen to you." He smiles his face going extremely close to mine as he ends so, both of our minds going to the same thing.
But before anything could happen between us, voices shouting if everyone was okay soon snap us from our trance. Jackson sends me a final smile before climbing to his feet, which soon reminds me of the position we were just in. Heat rushing to my cheeks as he leans down his hands, sending me a wink once he notices my reaction. I roll my eyes at his response while reaching up to accept his help, I'm soon pulled onto my feet where we both begin to brush the mud which we had accumulated from the fall.
'I need four medics!" One guy shout which does make my heart rate pick up, that must mean at least one person out there is hurt which is the same location I last saw my mother!
Jackson begins to climb the ditch, whilst taking my hand and helping me to do the same thing. After a few seconds, we were both out of the ditch to witness the chaos which had unfolded in the matter of seconds. There were a handful of people laying on the floor with more people offering them help, cars were steaming from being hit with the stray bullets. The amount of glass which was scattered around the floor was also shocking, Mario had left a lot of destruction in his little visit.
My name being called is what once again snaps me from my trance, I look around the scene in front of me where my mother and Reece were frantically, looking around the area. Once her eyes land on me, I see relief take over her expression as they both rush over to see if we were okay.
'We're both fine, Jackson got us both out of the way before any bullets could greet us." I smile to set all of their worries to the side, while also trying to give Jackson the credit which he deserves.
'Talking of bullets, that didn't go as planned." Jackson says placing his hands into his pocket, his comment making my mother sigh and take a look down. 'Any idea why he showed up at this place?" Jackson asked which I thought was an obvious answer, who has escaped just minutes before?
'I'm no investigator but I think it's pretty obvious, he was here to collect his buddy who had recently escaped." I say looking up at Jackson, which he soon sends me a smirk like he knew I was trying to make it seem like I hadn't been doing my own investigation work since I was placed with him.
'Ally is right, Derek ran for the car and sped away with Mario and his gang, which means our most promised lead has gone back." My mother sighs looking into the distance, but in my mind, I knew it wasn't surprising that it happened.
Mario as everyone keeps saying is a very clever guy, he went undetected for so many years! He knew if he kept Derek in that place for too long, it wouldn't be dumb to think he would end up talking and give Mario up. By aiding Derek in his escape, he's made sure he couldn't rat him out. As much as I hate the dude, he is very smart.
'It's highly unlikely he will return here but I don't want to take that chance, I need you to take Ally back to your house as normal." My mother tells Jackson who nods his head, his hand taking my arm as he did so.
'Keep me informed." He tells the two before leading me away from them, his hand running down my arm before interlocking his hand with mine once we were out of sight from the two.
We walk through the crowd of people before his beloved car soon comes into view, a smile forms on his lips once he spots his car had been unharmed from the little incident.
'I knew you'd be okay." He smiles talking to the car as we both open up the doors, a little laugh leaving my lips as we both climb in. 'You can laugh Ally; you don't know the kind of pain I would endure if something would have happened to her." He says starting the engine which causes the car to roar to life, I just roll my eyes once again whilst slipping my seatbelt on.
'Well, I'm glad all three of us made it out alive." I smile joining his little joke that his car was really alive, but I soon had another thought in my mind. 'We aren't really going back to your house, are we?" I ask as we begin to drive down the lane away from the chaos, where a smirk soon fills his lips.
'Not when our investigation has just found it's hottest lead." He smiles thinking what I had been since talking to my mother.
