Mario’s Father
The following day I wake up bright and early, now I knew I could play a key main role in finding my father, I wasn't wasting anytime. I was even downstairs making breakfast for Jackson and I, normally, it's the other way around. But I felt thankful for the way he was helping me, he was forced into this babysitting position, where he has been nothing but kind and compassionate even when I have been anything but easy going.
Jackson soon walks into the kitchen where he comes to an abrupt stop, I was unsure if this was because I was in the kitchen before he had even woken up or because I was cooking. Before he had time to speak, he had a plate of eggs, bacon and beans in his hands.
'What's the occasion?" He asks taking a seat at the counter looking down at the food I had made, I smile turning around with my glass of water and join him on the counter.
'There's no occasion, I just couldn't really sleep and thought it would be nice if I make you breakfast this time." I smile as he takes his first bite and his eyes go wide, I think he may have liked it. 'You have my father to thank for my cooking, he taught me everything." I smile taking my first sip of water, he smiles whilst continuing to indulge in the breakfast I had made him.
'Aren't you eating?" He asks once he clocked that I hadn't made myself a plate, but I wasn't hungry over nerves of the information I may learn about my father and what's been happening. 'Well as a thank you for making me this delicious breakfast, I will answer any questions you may have surrounding Mario and the items he had asked for back." He smiles which now it was my turn to be shocked, how did he know I was going to beg for him to tell me what he knew about the items after he had finished eating.
'How did you know?" I ask at a loss for words this time, how is it he knew that was going to be my questions once he had finished eating.
'Ally, we've been with one another every single day for months now, I can always see how your brain works by just looking at your face." He smiles whilst shoving more egg into his mouth, I smile taking a look down at the counter as I went. 'Now please, ask me whatever is on your mind." He says which did make me wonder what question to ask him first, I had a few.
'Mario said you had stolen the items from him, how did that happen?" I ask starting simple, if my mother's team have never been able to catch this guy, how did they get close enough to steal his items but not catch him?
'Well, it was a few years ago, your mother had just started looking into Mario and trying to uncover anything and everything she could surrounding this guy. Due to this situation, Mario made it his top priority to try and hide everything he does because, we were able to track him to this warehouse that a good friend of his rented out." Jackson explains the story which showed how hard they went after Mario, even from the start when they didn't even know much about what he does and what he was about to do to my family. 'We headed there and luckily for us, Mario and his whole team were planning a heist in that very warehouse. We didn't know how at that point, but now in hindsight, I suspect Derek warned him as we were travelling that we were coming. When we arrive there, there were men running around outside trying to get away which some of us caught easily. We knew they were a kind of distraction, so me, your mother and Reece carried on in to locate Mario. This also surprised him, and we ended up having a gun fight with him as like the one in the lane." He continues which sounds terrifying, I never want to ever be put in a situation like that, but Jackson has multiple times, how isn't he a nervous wreck?!
'His gun ran out of ammunition after a few moments, which he proceeded to throw at us which is how we were able to take that. He knew he was trapped but that didn't stop him from running, he ran from one side of the warehouse to the other, us not very far behind him where he reaches an air vent. He breaks it open and starts to climb through, but Reece runs over and takes his leg preventing him from fully leaving. But Mario wasn't going down without a fight, he manages to kick Reece enough for him to lose his grip and fully climb through. But due to the struggle, his chain had gotten attached to the side of the air vent and as he moved, it ripped from his neck and was left dangling. Mario knew if he went back for his chain, Reece would grab him and not let go this time, so he was forced to flee leaving his beloved chain behind." Jackson finishes the story which sounded so insane to me, I can't believe they were so close to catching him, Reece even had ahold of his leg for a few seconds, but he was still able to get away.
'I bet Reece hated that he was able to kick him off." I say placing my cup back down on the counter, while Jackson shakes his head no.
'He hated it, that's actually the reason Reece is so hell bent on finding Mario, we all have our different reasons, mine is what he done to my sister, your mothers because of the bad things he would do and now because he has your father but Reece's, it's down to the fact he had Mario in his grasp, but he slipped." Jackson explains which sounded so horrible, I can't imagine the feelings Reece had after he let go of that guy.
'But why does Mario care so much about that chain?" I ask not really understanding that part, Mario had told me over the phone it was his father's chain but by all accounts, Catia, was a single mother.
'It's his last item connecting him with his late father, we did some digging and learnt his father used to also be this big-time gangster and ran with the wrong people." He says which was a shock to me, I know I hadn't heard a thing about his father, but I had no idea, he was up to the same things as Mario.
'Like father like son?" I ask where Jackson nods his head confirming I was correct, maybe that's why Mario started doing the things he does now.
'Exactly, well one day, his father had this big job laid out which he always said would set him for life, he would have enough cash for him and his family to live comfortably for the rest of his days. But he also knew the risks that from the job so in case it didn't go to plan, he gave Mario his chain and told him if he doesn't come back, Mario will always have that chain to show what his father did to try and give him a better life. His father died trying to finish the job and that chain never left Mario's neck, until the day he was running from us, and it broke off." He explains whilst taking the last bite from his breakfast, but the story he had just told me made me start to feel bad for Mario, I mean he lost his dad.
'Don't start feeling bad for him Ally, I know that's something you struggle with when it comes to bad people, but trust me, Mario doesn't need anyone feeling bad for him." Jackson says snapping me from my thoughts whilst standing up to put his plate in the sink, but before I could reply to him, the front door opens, and I see my mother and Reece walking in. 'Does no one know how to knock nowadays?!" He shouts towards the two who didn't even knock, I mean it is really rude!
'Ready to leave?" My mum walks as she walks into the kitchen and spots me sitting there, really no hello, or how you're doing?! 'Do you know the address so Reece and I can go ahead?" She asks which told me what she was doing, she was hoping I gave her the address so her and Reece go there before Jackson, and I can.
'No, I don't, so you're just going to have to wait for Jackson and I to leave." I say back in the same manner she spoke to me, which did take her by surprise.
She looks down and begins to walk out into the living room with her tail between her legs, Reece not that far behind her. Once they were gone, Jackson goes up behind me and whispers in my ear.
'Finally, somebody had to tell her." He says before looking at me with a smirk, I smile shaking my head before taking a drink from my water.
