Jackson
The car ride felt like it was going on for hours, the tracker hadn't moved since we had been following him but with every street we would turn down, it would feel like more would be added on. Jackson was going the ways I was telling him and was shocked we were in the part of town we were, according to Jackson, this is where most of the police officers and higher ups live. Mario was hiding right under their noses, and they had no idea. But let's be honest, Mario is very good at what he does, he knew they wouldn't be looking for him in their part of town, so that's exactly where he hid.
'It seems like the tracker is right on this next street." I say looking down at my phone, the feeling of finally, being able to find my father at the forefront of my mind.
Jackson turns the corner, where a huge office building which towered over all the other buildings stood. I take a look down at my phone and see the tracker seems to be within the building, Mario really wasn't trying to hide in that place. But also, my dad looks pretty beaten up the last time I saw him, how did they get him into this posh looking building without anyone seeing?
'How are we supposed to get in there?" I ask pointing up at the huge building in front of us, Jackson parks the car in one of the parking spaces whilst also looking up at the building.
'As I said, this is cop town. I show them my badge and they let me in no questions asked, it's kind of one of the perks of working in my area." He smiles pulling out his badge from the glove compartment and placing it around his neck, it doesn't seem like he wears it a lot. 'Just stand beside me looking pretty and they'll allow you in." He smiles sending me a wink before climbing out of the car, I roll my eyes but do climb out to join him.
I meet him on the other side of the car where we walk side by side towards the very posh office building, even the people walking out of it seem to be very respected lawyers, a job I thought my mother did for years. The door is held open by a kind guy in a suit, I smile as a thank you while Jackson walks in first with me close behind.
'You know I should just start wearing smart clothing when we're on the job, the number of times we walk into a place and you blend in perfectly, but I stick out like a sore thumb dressed casually." I whisper as we begin to head towards the desk, Jackson looking down at me smiling.
'Don't change Ally, I love the way you dress." He whispers back with a wink before we arrive at the front desk, which meant I couldn't answer what he said.
'Good morning, do you have a pass to be allowed to enter?" The man at the desk asks looking at both of us, Jackson smiles holding up his badge.
'I think this is better than any pass you could give me." He smiles smugly at the guy; the guy's eyes go wide before he nods frantically. 'Don't alert anybody that we're here got it." Jackson says leaning closer to the desk as he spoke, the man once again nods before clicking a button so the door that leads to the main part of the building opens up.
I follow Jackson who was smugly walking through the door, I think he enjoyed the way the guy acted once he flashed his badge. Once we were further away enough, I get closer to Jackson as we head towards the lift.
'Why did the guy act like that once he learnt what you do?" I ask as we continue to move passed many people, I definitely looked way underdressed to be here.
'Because I do the job, they all wished they were able to." Is all he says as we stop at the lift, but the out of order sign causing Jackson to get ticked off. 'Such a well-off place here and the lift doesn't even work, what a joke." He shakes his head before leading me to start climbing the stairs, not really knowing how many stairs it was that we needed to climb.
'What are we going to do when we get there, it's more than likely Mario will be there?" I ask as we begin to climb the very big staircase, the tracker was getting closer but still seemed to be quite far away.
'Whatever happens, you stay behind me." He tells me with a serious look, I nod my head understanding how dangerous of a situation we could be walking ourselves into.
We continued to climb the stairs for what left like an hour, my legs hurt worst with each step that we could take higher. This experience is just proving to me that I need to work on my cardio! I look down at my phone again and see we were very close to the tracker, it seemed to be right down the hall.
I nudge Jackson making him look down at my phone, he looks over and nods his head whilst pulling me behind him. The door to level 30 was in front of us, did we really climb 30 flights of stairs?! Jackson pulls out his gun, so it was by his side while opening up the door slowly, this relieving a long corridor with a bunch of doors. We slowly start to enter the corridor, whilst getting very close to the tracker. As we pass each door, I shake my head telling Jackson the tracker didn't seem to be in that room. But once we stop at door number 150, the tracker seems to be somewhere right at the other side of the door.
Jackson looks down at my phone before nodding, where I could see, he was attempting to come up with a plan quickly in his head as we stood there. He soon smiles moving me so I was standing to the side of the door, which meant I couldn't be seen when the door opened. Jackson stood with his gun in his hand and calmly knocks on the door, hang on he's just going to knock and walk in?! I thought we were going to try and be stealthy but he's just walking in there like they don't know who he is.
After a few seconds, I hear the sounds of the door being opened but immediately, Jackson brings his gun up and smacks whoever opened the door with it.
'Get on the ground!" He shouts before walking into the room with his gun pointed, does he want me to wait out here, but he did tell me to stay behind him?! He wasn't clear on his instructions!!
I decide it would probably be more dangerous for me if I were to walk into whatever mess was currently happening, so I keep my back pressed against the wall with my heart rate going a million miles an hour. The chaos was still loud but thankfully, no gunshots rang out from the room. A second door opens and out runs about 4 men, they all had their backs to me, so I had no idea who they were before they disappear down the corridor. My curiosity gets the better of me and I slowly head towards the open door, which I soon found out was from the same room Jackson ran in. I stick my head through and a see a man, wearing all black pointing a gun in the direction of who I guess is Jackson.
I told Jackson I have his back, it's time to show it. I look around frantically, for something that could help me disarm the man, where I see a lamp on a side table, I mean if that's the only thing. I quickly pull the lamp up; the plug being unplugged from the wall as I did so. I slowly being as quiet as I can make my way into the room to stand behind the guy, who was none the wiser. With all my might, I reach up the lamp and smash him upside the head with, where he instantly falls to the floor.
I throw the lamp to the ground as Jackson's shocked face stood there looking at me, but soon the biggest smile fills his lips.
'And that's how it's done Ally!" He shouts which does make me jump and start to look around, where a man being chained to a pillar gets my attention.
'Dad!" I shout running over as fast as I could to him, I place my hands on his shoulders just looking at his beaten-up face.
'You've found me, I knew you would." He says looking as though he was going to start crying which also made me want to cry. 'Look at you, you look so much like your mother." He cries as he places his head on my shoulder, I was trying with all my might not to cry in this moment.
'I wasn't going to stop until I found you, you won't believe the crazy things I've had to do." I say with a little chuckle as he lifts his head up, but soon a weird smell starts to fill my senses.
'I don't want to break up this well-deserved family reunion, but we have a problem." Jackson says snapping me from the moment, where I see thick black smoke barrelling from the door I had just walked through.
'What the hell?!" I ask rising to my feet as I went, I'm more than certain I didn't see any type of fire when I was there less than ten seconds ago!
'They're trying to destroy evidence! Ally, you head down with your father and get out of this building, I'll try to move this unconscious twat." Jackson shouts whilst running over and breaking the chains that held my father to the pillar.
'What about you?" I ask once he had fully freed my father and helped him to stand, where he sends me one of his smiles.
'I'll be right behind you." He smiles whilst I wrap my father's arm around my shoulders to help him walk, I didn't like the thought of leaving Jackson, but I knew I had to.
I nod my head before having to basically, drag my father out of the room and towards the stairs Jackson and I had just climbed. I kick the door open with my foot as the visibility had decreased to basically nothing. I begin to help him walk down the many stairs, while out of every door ran hundreds of others. The once silent staircase was full of screams, shouts, people scrambling to find the exits and the loud fire alarm ringing throughout the building.
'You're doing great dad, not long now." I say to try and reassure him that it was all going to be okay as we ran, but in this moment, I didn't know if we'd be able to make it out in time before the fire spread.
After what feels like a lifetime, we had reached the reception Jackson and I had entered not ten minutes before. But this time, the calm atmosphere was replaced with fear and worried people running around. I manage to weave us past all the worried people and out into the fresh air, where it was still very much panicked but also emergency services were everywhere. One team spot how injured my father was and ran over to help.
'Please stay with him, I'll be back in a minute." I say handing him over to the men whilst reassuring my dad I would be right back; they carry him over to the ambulance to get him treated.
I now turn my attention back towards the chaos in front of me, people were still running up and down, while smoke and ash start filling the street. But there was one person I was looking for, Jackson. He had told me he would be right behind me, but I couldn't see him anywhere.
'Jackson!" I shout in hopes he was only lost in the crowd, and he'd hear my voice and come running, but when I frantically, looked side to side, he wasn't there.
I then turn my attention to the building; the top section was covered in orange flames which were spreading further and further down the building! This must mean the level I was on is covered in fire! I run at full speed towards the building, but before I could get any closer, I'm stopped by an officer.
'I'm sorry ma'am, we can't allow anyone into the building, it's structure is too damaged and could give way at any moment." He says holding me back from getting any closer, but I didn't give up my fight.
'No please, someone I know could still be trapped in there!" I plead with him, but he shakes his head, I knew there would be no way any of them would allow me past.
I stop fighting but begin to burst out crying, my hand running through my hair in a stressed manner still searching the area for him. There was still no sign of him, only others running around in a panic. A huge explosion rocks the ground, where when I got steady on my feet once again,I look up I see most of the upper part of the building had exploded.
'Jackson!" I shout at the top of my lungs leaning forward, my legs attempting to give way so I would drop to the floor in a heap, what if he's trapped in there?!
'Ally!" I hear through the crowd from somewhere, I lift my head up and start to frantically, search for who had ever called my name.
I turn my head to the side and spot the owner, Jackson was stood in the middle of the panicked group of people looking right at me. I take off running as fast as I could over to him, where he began to do the same. We soon meet in the middle where before he could utter a word, I crash my lips onto his. He doesn't even freeze out of shock but immediately, kisses me back whilst pulling me even closer to him. His hands were around my waist while mine was either side of his face, the craziness around us faded away in a sense. After a few moments, we finally pull away, where we look right in each other's eyes.
'Finally, I've been waiting to do that for so long." He says that same smile on his lips which I have grown to love, but I couldn't help but smile.
'Never do that to me again." I say shaking my head, I never want to feel what I have just felt when I thought he was still in that building.
'You know with how I live my life; I can't promise that." He tells me while I send him one of my looks. 'But for you, I'll try my hardest." He smiles his hand now going to my cheek before our lips our together once again.
After a few moments, Jackson and I were walking towards the ambulance which my father was being treated in. Once we stood outside the door, I see him lying in the bed getting treated.
'I need you to take him to the hospital at Queens Base, he will be treated there." Jackson tells the crew, the first one looks confused but the second nods jumping from the ambulance.
'I have taken a few patients there; we'll take him there right away." He says before closing the doors and running to drive my dad to the hospital, at least I know he's safe.
'Mario got away." I say turning to look at Jackson again, but he shakes his head looking up at the huge building on fire, one we were in not moments before.
'I don't think he was there in the first place, only his idiot henchmen which were told to watch your dad." He says which does make more sense, I mean I didn't catch a glimpse of the guy once.
I start to look around once again at the scene, where someone leaning up against a pole gets my attention. They were slumped over in pain but once they look up, I was shocked.
'Reece?!" I ask before running towards him, Jackson soon following in suit whilst shouting we need help. 'What happened?" I ask once I had reached him where he was now laying on the floor, clearly in a lot of pain.
'Your mother and I were waiting outside for you to return from talking to that man when we were ambushed by Mario." He manages to say through the pain, which must have been where they had gone.
'He has your mother." He says before paramedics run over to help him, which does make me whip my head around to look at Jackson.
For Pete's sake.
