After around an hour of Jackson's manic driving, we arrive in the street of his house. I wanted nothing more than to get out of these soaking wet clothes, the only part of me that wasn't wet was my top half due to this amazing coat. As we turn onto his street, I spot Reece getting out of his car with a bag in his hands.
'What we going to do?" I ask Jackson more than a little panicked, if we casually just drive over where we're covered in mud and soaking wet, Reece is going to see right off the bat that we didn't just go for an evening drive somewhere.
Jackson stops the car abruptly before putting it into reserve, before I knew it we were reversing very quickly down the road. I mean if this night has shown us one thing, it's Jackson is a great driver! Once we reach the end, he swerved the car to the side and races the opposite way.
'I'll park the car in the back, I'll have to come up with an excuse." He says as the back of his house soon comes into view, the longer we leave Reece waiting by the front door, the more suspicious he's going to get! 'You need to run in first and stall him." He tells me as he hits the breaks very hard, I look over at him shocked that I would have to be the one to stall him!
I do as I'm told and bolt out of the car and in through the back door, which to my surprise, Jackson leaves unlocked! I was about to rush over to the door, but I soon remember that I was still in the coat and my hair was dripping wet. I rush over to the kitchen, throwing off the coat and my shoes whilst putting my hair in a very messy bun. The door knocks even harder which tells me Reece is growing rather impatient!
I hide the coat just in case Reece walks into the kitchen, before rushing over to the front door being extremely out of breath. I take a deep breath in before opening up the door, where Reece looks over at me a little shocked.
'Ally, are you okay?" He asks looking at me with suspicion on his face, I mean the way I was standing and how out of breath I was, it doesn't really scream I was just sat on the sofa!
'Yeah, I'm fine, I was just in the shower when I heard the door, Jackson is sorting something in the back, so I don't think he was able to hear the door." I smile leaning against the door frame slightly so I could slyly catch my breath, I really need to do more sports if that sprint took it out of me!
'Well, I'm just here to drop some of your things off, your mother packed clothes, toiletries and whatever else you might need." He says handing me over the quite heavy bag, but at least I've got everything I need to stay here for the time being. 'I do have to come in to speak with Jackson." He says taking a step closer to the door, my body was still covering where he could walk in.
'Oh sorry, I should have let you in." I smile trying to make it seem like I'm not hiding things, I move aside allowing him to walk in before closing the front door behind him.
Just in time, Jackson walks into the room from what I think is the dining room. He had changed his clothes, so he wasn't in the same mud filled clothes, but to cover his wet hair he wore a beanie. I give him a weird look at his choice, this is the first time I'm seeing him in a hat.
'There you are, I don't have to remind you that having the person you're protecting answering the door probably isn't the safest option." Reece says critiquing the way Jackson does his job as soon as he sees him, can't he just lay off the dude for one second?!
'I'm just going to head upstairs to change into my own clothes, have fun discussing whatever it is you guys are discussing." I say understanding that I need to act as though I don't know what's being said, even if it's not about Alison, I know Jackson will tell me as soon as he gets the chance.
'Jackson might be out for a while when you get down, but don't worry I'll be here." Reece smiles which I didn't like so much, not just because Jackson and I have bonded and I feel more comfortable around him, but Reece being able to just walk around the house might lead him to everything we've been doing.
I send him a forced smile before turning around and walking up the stairs, how am I supposed to keep Reece away from all of this! Once I reach my new room, I open up my bag to see what my mother had packed, my new laptop and all of my chargers were on top. Underneath were my clothes and makeup bag things, at least she knows what to pack for me.
I pull out some comfy leggings and a loose-fitting cotton jumper and start to get changed, Jackson left me my own clothes hamper so our clothes don't get mixed together. Once I was done, I leave my room and head back down the stairs expecting to see Reece. But to my surprise, Jackson was sat on the sofa waiting for me.
'I thought you had to go somewhere, and Reece would wait for me?" I ask walking down the stairs as he stands up smiling.
'That's what they wanted to happen, but I told him I'd prefer if you come with me to the base, so I know you're okay." He smiles which told me I probably had to get my shoes ready, I nod walking over to my shoes and slipping them on. 'I can see how you act around Reece, and I don't blame you, I don't want you feeling uncomfortable while I'm away for a few hours." He says passing me one of his dry coats, that's one thing my mother didn't pack for me, I guess she thinks we'll be staying in the house all day.
'Did they tell you they've found Allison?" I ask slipping the coat on, let's be honest they didn't find her, but our investigation effects did.
'Yep, I had to act surprised." He smiles walking over to the door and opening it up for, I send him a smile but looked confused as his car sat there. 'While you were getting ready, I moved the car, which is in desperate need of a clean, look at my baby." He says in a squeaky voice rubbing his car, I just roll my eyes walking over to the passenger door climbing in.
We soon arrive at the base; this was the first time I'm coming here at nighttime. It looked so different, normally there are cars and people everywhere, it looked deserted. I follow Jackson into the building and into the main area, where I spot my mother and Reece standing around talking to Alison.
'Time to act surprised again." Jackson whispers looking down at me before they all turn to us, where Jackson smiles running over to his sister who wraps him in a hug.
I move to the side a little not wanting to get involved, I mean I've seen the first time that we found her. I wonder if this is how my dad and I will act when we find him, well if we find him for that matter. I take a look to the floor thinking about him, but also remembering how Jackson told me to be strong and not give up hope, perhaps he was talking from experience.
I look away from the floor where I spot my mother looking over at me, we make eye contact for a few seconds before she starts to walk over to me.
'I bet you're a little confused." She says standing beside me, I look away from her and over to the window to see all the stars in the sky.
'I already know, maybe I'll get to do this with dad when you finally find him." I say not really in the talking mood, I mean I've had the busiest day than her I've had to walk through a field doing the job she gets paid to do.
'I wonder if you'd have this reaction if it was me that was missing." She says trying to make me feel bad, by this time everyone was now looking over at us.
'Let's be honest, you've been missing most of my life already, haven't you?" I ask finally looking over at her, where she had nothing to say.
I thought we were getting on for a second, obviously not.
