Chapter Sixteen

After my meeting with Lukas, I thought he'd just wanna sit and try to take in all the new information he just learnt. But he was the opposite, he was more talkative than ever! Maybe that's his way of coping with everything. As long as he's dealing with it his way, he can talk as much as he wants. It was early the next morning and I was just getting ready, while Toby was still fast asleep in my bed. Now Lukas knew about us, he actually came up with a plan that would help Toby a lot. To get into my room, you would need to use a key card to actually get in the door. But with their rooms, you have a main door and than it's their rooms. Lukas suggested that he just use his key card to get in and can just say he likes to scan the card, which isn't a lie, and that's why Toby never uses his to get in his bedroom. So now he can stay in my room and no one will ask any questions, which Toby is rather happy about. Once I was ready I take a look to the clock, 4am. I wouldn't be up this early if it wasn't for what me and Brandon have been assigned today. We're heading back to Toby's pack to have a meeting with Lukas's mum, who said she'd only do this meeting if it was in the early hours. She didn't want anyone to find out about Richard, so she wanted us to sneak in to have this meeting. I lean down placing a soft kiss on Toby's head, who opens his eyes as I pull away, oops I woke him up. "I'm just leaving now, I've been in your pack more times than you have recently" I smile trying to move away but he takes my arm pulling me back, I really didn't have time for this. "Our pack" he corrects me while placing a kiss on my lips, I just smile fully pulling away to let him get back to sleep. Once I leave the room I see Morgan having a heated conversation with someone, I couldn't see whoever it was due to them being behind a wall. I knew whatever it was is bad, Morgan doesn't get that angry very often and it takes a lot for him to even get angry in the first place. I didn't want to seem like I was eavesdropping, so I walk down the hall and head towards the main office. That didn't stop my brain from wondering though, why would Morgan and that person even be in my corridor? As I said before, each team have a building where their bedrooms are located. The alliance doesn't allow men and woman to be on the same section, so as I'm the only girl on the team they gave me my own corridor. Morgan, never enters my corridor as he said it would be disrespectful to do so, there's only been maybe one time he has and he hasn't even walked through the door of my corridor. Did he stop someone from coming to talk to me? Who would want to talk to me at this time in the morning? I had so many questions swirling around my head as I walk into the main room, where Brandon sat at the table looking half asleep, he definitely isn't a morning person. His head starts to fall off his hand, once it does he snaps awake looking shocked. "Please tell me your secret, how aren't you nearly falling asleep right now?" He asks a yawn escaping his lips, I just laugh going to my draw to get my things. "I'm just used to it now, I know that I need to get my head in the game to get the work done" I smile as the door opens and in walks Morgan, who looks much calmer than I just saw him. "It comes with the territory, we have a very important job that we do so it's vital we're at our best at all times" he says while taking a seat at his desk, he pulls a post it note out of the draw and hurriedly writes something down. In seconds he was up again telling us he'll see us once we get back, this just makes me even more confused and worried on who he was speaking to just moments before. "Hey, it takes around an hour to get to Toby's pack, you can have a sleep in the car" I smile picking my coat up while Brandon nearly walks into the wall, I laugh a little taking him by the arm and leading him out the room, avoiding any walls as he went. It was still pitch black when we pull up at the border, due to it being winter the sun doesn't come up to at least 7am and it's now 5am. Brandon had slept the whole way but was wide awake now, at least his head will be in the game for the interview. I park the car where I did previously, before we both make our way over to the border where the same guard stood. "You're always working" I smile as we come to a stop in front of him, he bows his head towards me while sending us both a smile. "As are you, it's clear that we both enjoy our jobs" he smiles which does make me nod, Brandon runs back to the car saying he's forgotten the bag again "the Alpha told us you're coming, but we know you won't need clearance as you finished the mating process, welcome home Luna" he smiles bowing his head towards me, how the heck do they know that, I'm not even marked?! He catches onto my confused face, while I also hear the door closing behind me and Brandon appears beside me. This means the guard can't tell me how he knows, well he could but it might confuse Brandon, wait Brandon knows about me and Toby right? "The Beta's mum is waiting for you at her residence, her mate will be here momentarily to escort you" he smiles while a older man makes his way over, maybe this is the mate we were waiting for. "No need to wait, I'm right here" he smiles putting his hands behind his back, while also bowing his head towards me, what's with everyone doing that?! "Now Luisa, is quite nervous about having a chat, so if it would be okay with you I would like to be present" he says talking very formally, but it was nice that he was asking permission and not just expecting to be allowed there. "I don't see a problem with you being there, you might actually be able to help us answer some questions" I smile as Brandon shifts around beside, that's what he was doing before when we were here, what's his problem? The man thanks me before beginning to lead us away, I send the guard a little wave before following the man, having to pull Brandon along with me. The walk through the pack was actually nice, I've been in packs before where it's literally like you've stepped onto a battlefield. But this one, looked rather pleasant in a nice way. In no time, we walk through the garden gate leading to the house, which from the front window I saw the worried face of a woman standing there looking back at me. As Peter unlocks the door, I send her a reassuring smile before the doors opens. "The people from the alliance are here" Peter says as he walks in and leads us to the front room, Brandon closes the door behind us following behind me. As I walk in, the woman that was by the window was hugging herself nervously. Peter walks straight over to her placing his hand on her arm, anyone who's been in contact with Richard, will inevitably act like this when the topic of him gets brought up. I feel like her when it happens, but I've learnt to put an act on. "Hello Luisa, I'm Taylor and this is Brandon, I wish we were meeting under better circumstances but with Richard, no circumstances are ever good" I say with a smile as Brandon takes a file, a notebook and other documents out of the bag "I know talking about him is going to be difficult, but this is all to help Lukas" I smile which she surprisingly shakes her head to, not the response I thought I'd get. "How would you know how hard it is, you've read about him that's it, you never experienced what he's like" she snaps at me which does take me by surprise, she's acting how Lukas did at the start, is it like a defensive mechanism? "I have you know, I know first hand what it is like to deal with him, he attacked me when I was a child which killed my wolf, but you don't see me crying over that do you?" I ask something in me snapping over her snapping at me, I wanted and demanded respect from her "now, as I said we're not here about your feelings but you sons, now do him a favour and cut the attitude" I say point blank which even made Brandon look shocked, I wasn't having her talk down to me. Brandon now places his hand on my arm as like Peter did with Luisa, but he was doing this to try and calm me down.
