Chapter Fifty-Eight

The metal stairs creaked under our feet as we climbed them, maybe having two of us walking up them at the same time wasn't the brightest of idea's. In no time my hair began to blow in the wind as we climbed higher, maybe I should have brought a hair band of some kind. We soon take the last step and were standing on the roof, but it appeared to be only us on this roof. We walk away from the stairs slightly and look around, there isn't anywhere he could be hiding on this place! "We know he has to be here due to the note" I say holding the note in the air looking around, I couldn't help the bad feeling that was growing inside of me. "Or he's just done this to mess with us, why is the man that is supposed to be my father like this?!" Lukas asks throwing his arms in the air in frustration, I just sigh looking out into the distance where I actually see the pack house in Toby's pack, I didn't know we were this close to that place. "Now you may see why I left you all those years ago" a voice says from behind us, I immediately whip my head around and come face to face with Richard. He stood just in front of the staircase that we just walked up, was he behind us this entire time?! That just makes this situation that much creepier, he could have ran up behind us as pushed us off the building! "How great it is to have both of my children stood in front of me" he smiles looking between me and Lukas, I'm not one of his children! "I can just tell by your face Taylor what you're thinking, as I said in the letters we have a understanding of each other. You may not feel the same but you are my daughter, I even married your mother to settle that" he smiles which was the thing that made everything clicked, he didn't marry my mum because he loved her but to get to me. "Oh so you care now, what you did to me at seven years of age by that lake is forgotten is it?" I ask annoyed that he even thinks he's my stepfather, he's just a waste of space. "Of course I care about you, how many times do I have to say that I will always regret what I did to you that day, but I didn't have any other choice" he says trying to walk towards me but I step away, Lukas was soon standing in front of me "I see you're taking your older brother role well, I'm proud of you son" he smiles over at Lukas, when is this man gonna return back to reality?! "Like I told you the day you tried to attack my dad, I'm not your son and I'm protecting Taylor because she is my Luna and friend" Lukas corrects him, aww he keeps calling me his friend! Richard just smiles placing his hand in his pockets. "You might be saying that but I know what you're thinking is totally different" he smiles turning his head to look at the scenery, he's either really carefree and doesn't care about what's gonna happen, or he's mad. "You say you care about me now, but what was that a few months ago when I caught you and you sent one of your minions to try and attack me?" I ask with a raised eyebrow, I was successfully poking holes in everything he was saying. "I couldn't let you take me in because I hadn't finished what I was planning, after this I can allow you to take me in because everything will be put right" he rambled pulling a little notebook out of his pocket, he throws it over to us where Lukas catches it "and Taylor, I knew you'd be able to take that guy down no problem" he smiles while Lukas opens the notebook to the first page, it had the date of the first threat he sent to Lukas and what it would be. As we begin to flip through the notebook, the different events of things happening appeared at their dates, even down to Luisa dying. Either he was making notes of the events as they happened, or he's psychic. "I planned everything to happen when I wanted it to, I knew that the alliance would send you and Riley out to interview Lukas, where you would know straight away it was me sending the threats. You two would meet and the sibling bond would begin to grow, I didn't know you would be mated to the Alpha but I guess I can't predict everything" he chuckles slightly, wait how did he know all of that was gonna happen? "I knew Lukas would be taken in for his protection while you would actively pursue me, this gave me the chance to get into the limelight and start getting the balls in motion. Riley didn't fit in with my plan so I needed rid of him, luckily I know how he feels about me so when he found out I was Lukas's father, he wouldn't be able to take it and would snap" he says which does make me start to feel bad, I knew it wasn't all really Riley's fault. "After he was gone, I got intel that the two guys had been given clearance so you would make it seem like you were picking them up. I couldn't resist the chance to see my two children together, that is why I was watching you from the bush" he smiles while I think back to that day, it was the day after me and Toby mated and I somehow had to make the decision of what to do, a decision I still haven't made "I knew it wouldn't be long until you found Luisa, it's sad she had to go out that way but we couldn't change the plan once it was set in motion" he says as I see Lukas tense beside me, I know he's angry at her but she's still his mother. "I was never gonna set that bomb off but I needed you to ramp up the investigation if you thought I was, I put the idea of M.S.P to have that party knowing you and your mate would attend, once I got word of the fire, I knew my plan was working" he smiles which was very psychotic, this dude needs to be put on medication! "I needed you to see what a disgrace your father was so you would know how great of a father I am to you, look I planned everything just so we could meet!" He exclaims while I give him a weird look, yes my dad might be a horrible man but is nothing compared to the man rambling on. "I wanted you to go to no territory so you could find the keepsake boxes, you would know how much I really care about both of you" he smiles pulling out some more things out his pocket, he throws it over to us where once again, Lukas catches them once again. Looking down at the photos made me confused, it was a photo of me as maybe a 3 year old standing next to another young boy. "When I saw that photo, I knew I was doing the right thing, you two had already met as children and that's when I knew" he smiles answering my question, the boy in the photo was Lukas. We both take a confused and shocked look at each other before turning back to Richard, who was just smiling from ear to ear. "Everything that happened was leading up to this very point, I made sure everything went right the way it needed to so we could get to this point. Where it all started was where it had to end" he says looking down at the ground in front of him "it all started because of him, so it needed to end with him" he says pulling a bottle of something out of his pocket, he sends a cheers to us and the ground before swigging it. "That's where Thomas died" I say looking down at the ground where he was looking down at, this is why they never knew it was Richard that killed him, they had no cameras. "That's the last thing you needed to figure out Taylor and look, you did it just like I planned" he smiles before he doubles down in pain, he falls to the floor holding onto his stomach while dropping the bottle. I move passed Lukas and go to pick up the bottle, as I pick it up liquid wolfsbane dripped out, I guessed what it was by the smell. "Lukas, run downstairs to the car and get me the black bag out of there, it holds the antidote to stop this killing him" I say throwing the car keys over to him, he nods his head before bolting back down the stairs. "Why are you helping me?" Richard asks as I walk over to knell in front of him, he cries out in pain once again holding onto his stomach. "I'm not letting you take the easy way out" I say looking him in the eyes as I spoke, this being the first time I've done this since that night at the lake. "My plan worked Taylor, I made you into the incredible agent you are now" he smiles which does successfully piss me off, I'm sick of people telling me the same thing. "You didn't make me into anything, you put me in the situation where I had to make a decision. Many people choose to go the other way, but I decided to take that pain and choose to deal with it in a good way. Maybe if you didn't attack me I wouldn't be standing here, but I'm happy with the way I turned out, on my own" I say looking him in the eyes once again as I spoke "I am the person I am today because I didn't let the past hold me back, unlike you I let go and that's what makes us very different" I correct him as Lukas emerges with the bag in his hand, I move away from Richard and open the bag. Shifting through, I found the right one and picked the large bottle up. Once I took the cap off Richard begins to close his eyes, Lukas shakes his head picking up Richards head and opening his mouth. I move forward pouring the liquid down his throat, he's still for a moment but begins to cough violently and spurs out all of the wolfsbane he ingested. I wasn't letting him escape. I go back into the bag and pull out the handcuffs that I kept in there, flipping him over I handcuff him and throw him back to the ground. "Richard is in custody, I repeat Richard is in custody" I say into my secret radio on my sleeve, saying the words I've wanted to for years.
