Chapter Fourteen

The guys were just getting everything sorted in their rooms, which they had already left a few hours prior. But now we knew they were staying there permanently, they could settle in properly, maybe Toby will actually put his clothes away this time. The rest of the team were going over everything we knew, Morgan wanted to be prepared for when he has to interview the dude that tried to kill me. Honestly, what is with people lately and wanting to kill me? First it was Riley who just turned around and choose violence, than it was that dude! Do I have some kind of target on my back? "While I'm interviewing that guy, Taylor I need you to have the two official meetings with Lukas and Toby, it's in the meeting I need you to tell them about the father thing" Morgan tells me which does take me by surprise, I'm the one that has to tell Lukas? I don't remember us drawing straws and me picking the shorter one "interview Toby first and tell him, he might be able to give you information that he didn't even know he knows" he continues before beginning to walk out the room, great so I have the hardest job of them all. "Brandon, I need you to run background checks on all of the trainee agents I sent you, you know what type of things I don't like to see and send me the list back" Morgan says over to Brandon who looks over at me "you told her didn't you?" Morgan asks him before he to turns to look at me, I guess he's finding the replacement for Riley. "It's fine, if moving teams is what's gonna make Riley keep his job" I smile standing up and grabbing one of the files, even though it does suck to that I won't see him again "I better get going and do the interviews" I say before turning and walking out the room from the other door, this is really gonna take some getting used to. I begin to make my way towards Lukas and Toby's rooms, I was trying to cheer myself up before I got there so Toby wouldn't ask me what's up. Whenever someone brings up Riley, I can just tell by his face that he wants to find him and kill him. Obviously, he can't do that. Once I make it to their section, both guys had already left the main door and were walking down the halls. "These things are so cool, you just place it on the scanner and the doors open" Lukas exclaims amazed looking down at his key card, well at least it's the little things that make him happy. "That is what a key card is for" I laugh a little at his excitement, but I knew at the end of today when he learns the truth, that excitement might fade a little "now I need to have official meetings with you, Toby's will he first so Lukas, you can make your way to the main room and wait. Do you need me to take you there or do you know the way?" I ask as he just shakes his head walking passed me all cocky. "It's fine I got this, I wasn't chosen to be a Beta for nothing" he smiles but bumps into the wall behind him "I meant to do that" he says before he turns and fully walks away, missing the wall this time around. I just laugh shaking my head before looking back at Toby, he had his arms folded looking over at me with a smile. I tell him to follow me as I lead him towards one of our meeting rooms, a place which I always hated being in, whenever I was in there it's either I have to talk to some real bad guys or break people some really bad news. We soon arrive at the rooms where I open the door, allowing Toby to walk in first. Once inside I flip the switch that tells everyone this room is in use, while also turning the lights on. "Are we being recorded?" He asks pointing at one of the many cameras that were in this room, most of them where hidden but all together in this room alone, there were about 50 cameras. "No unless I turn them on, do I need to turn them on?" I ask a little confused at why he would ask me that, is he gonna tell me something off the record? "No, unless you want your boss to see this" he tells me taking my hand and pulling me onto his lap, when did he actually have the time to sit down on the chair "you told me our late night visits would have to stop, but I'm still in the same room" he smirks placing a kiss on my neck, I just smile moving to the side to look at him. "That actually makes it even more difficult, now you have that the alliance can track where you are. They'll see that I'm spending a suspicious amount of time in that room, before they knew you were here I could have said I was caught up with work and crashed in the spare rooms, but now they know you're in there I can't" I smile knowing that definitely wasn't what he wanted to hear, he looks annoyed but places a bigger kiss on my lips. "So I guess we're gonna have to make up for it now" he says against my lips but I move away pushing at his chest, no we actually needed to get work down. "No, it's important that we get this work done" I say pushing at him but he just moves to my neck, this wasn't gonna work "seriously, we need to have this meeting" I say moving fully away from him which he doesn't like, he sighs looking at me slightly annoyed. "Fine, but we are gonna find a way" he smirks as I try to get off his lap so we could get on with this meeting, but he just pulls me back down "I said we can carry on, but that doesn't mean you can get up" he says holding me tighter so I couldn't get up, I roll my eyes but agree knowing that's gonna have to happen if I wanna get any work done. "Okay, but before we start you have to promise me what I'm about to tell you, you don't tell anyone and I mean mind-link too" I say giving him a pointed look, now wasn't the time for him to mess about. "I don't know if I can promise that" he says with a smirk, but I shake my head once again this not being a joke. "No seriously Toby, you really can't tell anyone this, please don't" I say looking him in the eyes as I spoke, he studies my face for a second but nods telling me he promised, I take a deep breath in before continuing. "You're not gonna tell me you're pregnant or something?" He asks looking at my stomach than back at my face, what no that definitely wouldn't be easy to hide from the higher ups! "No, where the heck did that come from?!" I ask giving him a weird look as I went, he just shrugs his shoulders "we did some digging into Lukas...Richard is his father" I tell him which immediately makes his eyes go wide, he sits there in utter shock for a second trying to absorb the information I just told him. "Have you informed Lukas?" He asks finally looking up at me, he's been staring at the table while his brain tries to compute all of this new information. "No, we wanted to get all the information that we could and triple check everything was correct. The lab has run that test around ten times now, he's his biological father" I say which he just places his hand on his chin thinking, Morgan wanted to make sure without a shadow of a doubt that Richard was Lukas's father, every single test came back with the same answer. "This is gonna kill him, finding out Peter wasn't really his father messed him up for awhile, but now to find out who is father actually is" he says sitting back in his chair, while I lean forward taking the file that was sat on the table "but why would Richard wanna kill him if he's his son?" He asks looking over at me while I open the file, that's the question we've all been going over these last few days. "That's what we're trying to figure, we wanted to know if you would know anything, you're the Alpha?" I ask pulling out the photo of Lukas's mum and Richard smiling, he takes it shaking his head as he went. "None of this makes any sense to me, I could mind-link my Gamma and tell him to send all the pack files over, I won't tell him why" he says which makes me smile and nod, that would actually help a lot. While his face goes blank, I stand up out of his lap and move to the chair opposite side of the table. Once he snaps out of it he stares at his lap confused for a second, but once he turns to see me sat the other side of the table, he smiles getting out his seat. "We still have loads more to discuss" I say as he moves closer to me as he went, he just smirks pulling me up and out of the seat. "We can't really do much until my Gamma sends the files over, that old filing cupboard is huge" he smirks which just makes me roll my eyes as he pushes me against the door "we have to take advantage of this time when we can" he smiles while I take my hand and lock the door behind me, I didn't need people to see what was about to happen.
