Chapter Twenty

Everyone just stares up and the scared guy looking down at us, you could tell that he didn't want to be standing on the edge. Something was telling me to run up the stairs and help him, I also knew Toby wouldn't let me do that. I take a look to Morgan, who could just read me like a book. "I have to help him Morgan, I told his sister I would" I say placing my foot on the bottom step, even if Morgan said no I probably will still run up there. "I know whatever I say you'll do it anyway, just be careful" he says placing his hand on my shoulder, but the look in his eyes told me how worried he was. I take a look behind him to Toby, his back was turned while talking to a pack member. This could be my only chance to go in, I can't leave that guy on the roof. I take my chance and bolt up the stairs of the pack house, this is only the second time I've been in this building. The first, was with Riley when we had to interview Lukas. I run through the lobby part and head towards the stairs, while telling the people who were there to hurry outside. Once I reach the second floor, I start to scan my surroundings. There must be a way onto the roof, if not I'm gonna have to climb out of the window and get to the roof that way. A guy walking out his bedroom and towards the stairs grabs my attention. "Excuse me, do you know if there is a way onto the roof?" I ask as he just passes me, he stops on the top step as soon as I spoke. "Yeah, there's a window at the end of that corridor that leads up there" he says pointing down one of the four corridors, which was lucky because I was gonna head down the other one. "Thank you, now hurry outside to safely" I smile before running down the corridor, I hear him say a thank you Luna as I run "when isn't that gonna feel weird?" I ask myself as I reach the end of the corridor, looking up was the open window the dude was talking about. There was no ladder in sight, which meant I was gonna have to climb up there. Thankfully, there were bookshelves either side of me, let's hope there strong enough to hold my weight. I place my foot on the first one, beginning to climb up it like a ladder. Once I reach the top, I put one of my legs on the bookshelf opposite, where I was basically doing the splits in mid-air. I reach my arms up, placing them on either side of the window and start to pull myself up. It's lucky I have good upper body strength, I manage to pull myself up and out of the window. Once out, I see the guy standing on the edge right in front of me. "I know you're there Luna" he says without turning around to look at me, thankfully I never startled him at all, we didn't need him accidentally falling off the roof. "Then you know I'm here to help you off this roof" I say taking slow and cautious steps towards him, he didn't move though, his hair was the only thing blowing in the wind. "I can't do that, after what's about to happen" he sighs looking down at his feet, so it was him that put the bomb here, I have the right guy. "Of course you can and you don't have to go through with it, you can change your mind and come back down with me" I say as I inch closer, this is when I could begin to see the people down on the ground, they looked like ants. "You don't understand! He won't let me not go through with it, he'll hurt me and my family if I don't!" He exclaims moving a little too much, I freeze not wanting him to jump if I get too close. "Henry, take it from someone who has dealt with Richard for basically her whole life, yes he is unpredictable and evil on so many levels. But he doesn't see you as threat, he only takes people down who do threaten him, you and your family are gonna be protected by everyone in this pack if you don't do what he wants" I say hoping I was right, he shakes his head taking a slow step towards the edge "this isn't gonna help your family, you doing this is just gonna bring them more pain and they care so much about you, even your little sister Ashley" I tell him walking slowly over to him again, now I was right near the edge, from the corner of my eye I see Toby, who hadn't saw me yet. "What does Ashley have to do with this, she's just a little kid?" He asks moving his head slightly to look at me, that told me I was getting through to him slightly. "She was the one that told us what was gonna happen, yes she's just a little kid that doesn't need to go through what you're about to put her through. If you do this and set that off, your family is gonna shunned by everyone in this pack, some might do it unintentionally, but they'll just be seen as the family of a man that destroyed the heart of their lives. You definitely don't wanna put your family through that pain do you?" I ask as Toby finally looks up at us, his face holds shock as he bolts towards the pack house, he'll be here very soon. "But if I step down, the Alpha and the rest of the pack is gonna kill me" he cries looking over at me now, I shake my head taking more steps towards him as I went. "I will talk to the Alpha, I will make him see that this wasn't your fault. I promised your sister and I'm gonna promise you, I will help you any way that I can, you've just got to get off this roof" I say as Toby jumps through the window and lands on the roof "you're not gonna hurt him are you?" I ask Toby who's eyes kept snapping from me to Henry, I was hoping he was gonna go along with me. "Of course I won't, even with all of this you're still one of our pack members, we will help you anyway that we can" he says thankfully, saying what I needed him to right now "if you do this, you're not just robbing your family of you or the pack this place, you'll also be taking the Luna away, because I know her and there is no way she's gonna get off this roof without you. So either you get off and get help or, stay and rob the pack of their Luna and Alpha, because there is no way I'm getting off this roof without her" he says which does make Henry fully turn and look at us, he looks between me and Toby tears just running down his face. "Help us, Richard has hurt and is planning to hurt so many people, you'll be able to stop that" I say holding my hand out to him, he takes a look back down at the ground then at my hand "do the right thing Henry" I say as the bomb squad pull up, it took them longer than I thought. Henry nods his head taking my hand, I immediately pull him away from the edge and in for a hug. He cries uncontrollably holding me so tightly. "I'm sorry" he cries as he went, I hold him tightly saying it was all gonna be okay.
