Chapter Twenty-Four

Toby was soon close behind me as we both walk back into the main room, Morgan was still looking over at the wall of victims with Julian and Brandon. "Hey Taylor, we need that clever brain of yours" he says without turning around to look at me, I send a smile to Toby who as I pass smacks my butt before I making my way over to join the guys at the board "just look for something, maybe a pattern" he tells me moving aside so I could look, where my eyes begin to scan the board. I go from each victim just taking all the little details in, where they were found, when they were found, how did he beat them and what was left. Wait, what was left? I get closer looking at the details from what was left behind, something I never really payed any attention to in the past. "I know that face, your clever brain is starting to work" Morgan smiles from beside me as I start comparing things, than it comes to me. "I think I've got it, I don't know what the it is but I've got something!" I say pulling some files out to start reading through them "I don't think these are all from Richard, I mean yes he killed and attacked all of these people but most I don't believe was for him" I say a smile forming on my lips, not because I'm happy that any of this has happened, but because I've finally figured something out. "We know that Richard likes to leave notes to taunt his victims, but he doesn't do that with every victim" I say which Morgan just raises his eyebrows to, which meant that I was gonna have to explain even more "okay take Owen Marshal for instance, he was attacked by Richard twenty years ago, he was left in the woods with a note beside him and when we did background checks it turned out that he was Richards sisters son" I say pointing to the picture of Owen and the note left at the scene, I really don't understand how I or anyone else for that matter, hasn't picked up on what I just have. "But then we move onto another victim, Parker Briggs, he was killed in the middle of a car park with no note, we did some digging and couldn't find any connection between him and Richard" I say hoping that they would understand where I was going with this, but I was just met with even more confused faces "the ones that are personal to Richard, he will leave a note but not kill them. The ones that don't have any kind of connection with him, he kills and doesn't leave a note!" I exclaim which does make Morgan turn to look and nod along with me, but I don't think he's fully getting it because he wouldn't be acting like that. "So we know he has connections with the victims that he leaves a note for, but what connects him with the victims that he kills without a note?" He asks which luckily I had the answers for, even though I'm wasting time explaining. "When we looked into his victims, all the ones that he killed either worked for or had recently left or been fired from the same company, Mitchell&Co" I say pulling up some documents that Brandon was able to find, but I still wasn't finished "now we couldn't find anything that would connect Richard to the company as a whole, but found evidence that he and one of the executive directors of the company, Marshall Denton were best friends growing up" I say which does make his eyes go wide, but I wasn't finished "that's not all, when looking into the company we found out that Denton was running this super secret team within the company, M.S.P which we couldn't find what that stood for. But we did find out that all of the victims that were killed with no note were people that worked on M.S.P and for whatever reason left or got fired" I say taking a photo of Marshall Denton out and sticking it on the board, he was linked in all of this. "But why use Richard to do away with those people, why couldn't he have done it himself?" Lukas asks from across the room, I was just gonna get to that point. "With the work that Denton does, he can't get his hands dirty or be suspected of doing something bad. He got Richard to do his dirty work of silencing the people that knew too much" I say which I thought we would all be getting, Julian nods but does hold his hand up to ask a question. "But why would Richard agree to go helping Denton, we know they were best friends but that doesn't mean he has to kill people, all the people that Richard has gone after for himself have never died?" Julian asks which was a very good question, again one I had the answer to. "It's like you said, they were best friends, I looked into this years ago but I didn't think it was important so I brushed it off" I say pulling more files out while Brandon ran to his computer, he knew where I was going with this "years ago when Richard and Denton were in their early twenties, they had another friend that went by the name of Thomas. One day, Thomas was found dead in his house while Richard and Denton were upstairs. It was said that Richard and Thomas got into this huge fight and Richard snapped and punched Thomas, where he fell and smacked his head off a coffee table dieing instantly. Well from a anonymous source, it was said that Denton took the blame covering for Richard because he wouldn't be put in jail due who his dad was but it would still be on his record. Denton told Richard that we owed him one for covering for him" I say as Brandon puts on the screen a picture of Denton, Thomas and Richard together, before all that bad stuff happened. "So Denton tells Richard, either you do exactly what I say, or I'll go to the police and tell them it was you that killed Thomas" Morgan says finally piecing the last piece of the puzzle together, it took him long enough. "The killings started a week after the first guy left M.S.P" I say letting a sigh of relief out that I got all that out, it was a lot of talking. "Taylor you did it, you found the connection!" Morgan cheers placing a kiss on the top of my head, I did just do that didn't I? "Do we have anyway of finding out what type of stuff the M.S.P does?" Morgan asks directing that question at Brandon, who was typing away on his laptop. "I was going to hack into to see but it's a huge company, I would need your permission and it's gonna take awhile" he says looking up from behind his laptop for a second, that doesn't happen often. "Do it Brandon" Morgan says which I thought would have made Brandon go crazy and start working, but he looked up smiling. "I have just found that Denton and all the other higher ups of M.S.P are having a party dinner event tonight, to show off their company and to get more customers" he smiles taking a look to me as he spoke, I don't know why I would be invited? "he is inviting all the Alpha's from around here and their mates" he smiles still looking at me, but I understood the reason now. I turn my head taking a look to Toby, who was slowly rising from his chair behind me. The smile also didn't leave his face. "Taylor, I guess we have dinner plans tonight" he smiles which does make a smile form on my lips, time for an undercover mission.
