Chapter 16 Let's settle this Myra 'Christian," I seethed through my teeth, immediately he picked up. 'You said you tightened everything up, what's this tight position I find myself in? At this point I'll never be able to get through Royce!" I lamented. 'You need to calm down Myra. Tell me exactly what's going on. What's getting you this walked up?"Christian said calmly. I took some deep breaths and calmed myself. 'Apparently, Danni de Black has been sniffing around the contract given to Royce. I'm not surprised at this because he has always been a thorn on Royce's skin. I believe he did this to spite him which I really don't care about. But, the bastard is tying everything to me, making it look like I gave him some information about Royce!" 'I get you know, I'll look into it right away but you need to calm down Myra. Don't let this get to you. I'll find out everything you need to sort this out," he said and hung up. I walked through the balcony in anger, pacing the length furiously. Why is it difficult to get through him? The only thing I can only hope on is that Christian finds me something I can hold on to Danni. Something, I can leverage him on and make him fold up. The stupid man was going to make me have a crack in my plan. Here I was thinking he'll have let go of all his hatred but no. Back when I was still single, he tried all he could to get me to marry him but I was hell bent on marrying someone who's not tied to any of the Mafia dramas and went for Royce. That alone angered him. It got worse when Royce got all of the contract he was hoping to get because I made sure to help Royce get everyone of them. One would think that with my supposed death, he'll have let go of his grudges but it was still intact. My phone rang out just as I was getting tired of waiting. It was Christian as expected. 'Tell me what you have on Christian, tell me there's something to hook down Danni's gut" I said 'You were right , he's been sniffing the franchise too. Although he didn't show it, he actually wanted the contract for himself. As a matter of fact, he was the one who made Royce lose the contract in the first place and he almost got it for himself if not for your timely intervention. Now here's the juicy part, he has this paper company where he launders money which belongs to him and his associate under the pretense of a failed acquisition." 'You are telling me that he's a fraud underneath but paints himself as the good one?" I asked in summary 'You are right but are you sure about this? Danni won't sit idle if you use this on him. But if you must,you need to be extremely careful." 'Of course I will, thanks a bunch," I said and ended the call. A smile of victory decorated my mind as I clenched my fist. The idiot has some nerve to tie his stupid jealousy to me. I am going to make him pay. I walked back into the hall, my eyes scanning the whole area for him to no avail. I dropped my phone into my bag, determined to get Danni sorted out. Slowly, I scanned the table of guests again and saw him in the midst of his associate. If only they knew what evil he's up to behind them, they wouldn't as much as stand close to him or even smile at him. I got to his table and placed my hands on his shoulders and just like I expected , he smiled like the pervert that he is and placed his hand on mine too. 'Do you think you can spare me a few minutes, just you and I, " I added. Only god knows what he thought I wanted to speak to him about because he smiled sheepishly again and stood up, excusing himself from the table and followed me out 'Tell me what game you are playing at Danni. Why did you go about telling Royce as if I told you anything about his contract acquisition?"I asked immediately, we were out of earshot. His demeanor changed from the bad boy character to a shocked one as if he wasn't expecting that I'd find out. 'I have no idea what you are saying. I called him, yes but I didn't say anything about you.' He lied I scoffed and moved closer to him till his back was on the wall. 'Don't be such a liar Danni. And speaking about lying, you wouldn't want your associates to find out about the paper company, would you?" I asked and His expression tightened and he frowned 'What paper company?" He asked stuttering 'Oh, Danni. Not everyone is dumb like you are. I know about the 200 million pounds you had stacked in the paper company account." I explained and he slowly lost his confidence. 'Do you have evidence…for these accusations?" He said, maintaining a tough stance but I knew I had already cracked his walls. 'I was able to find the company within minutes, you think I can't find the evidence? All I have to do is instruct and I'd get it in my hand," I said. 'I'm sure you don't want your stupid friends to find out, " I added motioning towards the gala. 'But you know I can forget about all of this as if it didn't happen if you do want I want" If looks could kill, I'd have just slumped and died on the spot because he was looking at me as if he wanted to finish me right on the spot. 'Fine, what do you want?" He asked and I smiled 'You'll go back to Royce and tell him how sorry you are for lying and clear up all these misunderstandings. Do that and I'll keep your secret and you better not decline Danni because if you do. You won't like the outcome." I threatened. He looked at me angrily, weighing what option he had. After some minutes he agreed. 'Fine, I'll do what you want but you must keep your side of the promise, " he said and I nodded. I watched him leave and found my way back to the balcony, watching the night. I knew it was a matter of time before Royce came running over for his mistake. Moments later, my phone began to ring incessantly but I refused to pick. I want Royce to be anxious and make him find me.The ringing stopped and a message popped up. 'I'm sorry Myra, let's get this settled"
