Chapter 69 The hidden truth 'Percy" I read and my heart sank. One single message but I got what it meant; Percy was the one who helped Bella become Myra. I should have known when he showed up at the wedding hall, posing as a friend of Carl. And Carl! I had been surprised that he'd be at that wedding. He knew who Myra is,that was why, it was his daughter's wedding afterall. If Percy helped Myra it only meant one thing: he wanted his company, the one I took from him with my dubious means. For him to have stood by her till now, he definitely has something to gain from everything and he won't stop till he gets it. 'Royce!" I heard my name from the doorway as the door to my office opened, revealing Britney. She looked like she was being pursued by something because she looked rattled,her chest heaving up and down in a rather weird manner. 'I can't take this humiliation anymore. First it was gallivanting everywhere with you and then she made you divorce me. Now she has Selena on her side and the bitch had the guts to tell me to my face that she had used me. She told me all the time we spent together was based on lies. Just how stupid was I? Myra is gaining ground, buying everyone to her side!" She exclaimed 'I can see that for myself, so stop shouting!" I screamed, hitting my hand on the desk. The impact took her by surprise and she jumped in fright. 'I really don't have time for this Britney, I have other things to be worried about." 'Other things? Would those things still matter when she takes everything from you? You aren't even bothered about what happened to me, the last time she had me kidnapped and you did nothing about it and today, she said a lot of ridiculous things to me too." 'But you have no proof , do you? You want me to take that up when we have nothing on her? I'm really not in the mood for this , if you know what's good for you you'll leave this office right now because I'm not ready to deal with your spoiled brat tantrums." I said in anger. 'Tantrums?" She scoffed,her hands on her waist. She opened her mouth to speak again but before she could, a knock sounded. We both turned towards the door and the handle twitched and the door opened. Percy He walked in majestically, dressed casually in a shirt and shorts. He walked past Britney and walked to my table. He sat in one of the chairs facing me. All I could do was stare in shock at what was unfolding in front of me. My huge past. Someone I thought would never see the sun again is sitting right in front of me. He removed his sunglasses and smiled softly at me. 'Seeing the way you aren't surprised to see me, I guess your investigator finally found the answers you wanted, " he said but I was so dumbfounded that I kept blinking. 'Why are you here?" I asked when I finally found my voice. 'You know what I'm here for. You probably realised by now that I am the force behind Myra. You've seen for yourself how much of a strong woman she is so I came to warn you because now,the battle line has been drawn. She's going to make sure you pay for what you did to her… and me too." He said, 'While that unfolds,you think I'll just do nothing? You failed to remember that you are nothing. You were in the cell for how many years?" I asked moving closer. 'You need to be very careful of what you utter because I might just return you to jail if care isn't taken." 'Oh!" he said, pretending to be scared. 'For a minute you got me there. Continue leaving in your illusion Royce. Just wait till Myra comes for you." He said and stood up quietly like he sat and then walked out of the room. 'Who was that and what does he mean the battle line has been drawn?" Britney asked. 'That was Percy and he helped Bella become who she is currently." ***************** MYRA'S POV The girl's time ended so quickly that I wished we'd spent more time together. It's been long since I had that much fun and it felt good to be free. While in the car,I told my driver to make a stop at the office because I had some files to get. I walked into the company and prayed fervently that I won't come in contact with dad. Since my marriage to Danni, I've steered clear of him, knowing he'll frown at my decisions. I had a lot going on and I wouldn't want to add any fatherly drama to it. I opened the door to my office as quietly as I could and rushed to my table. I knew where the documents were,I just needed to find them and get out of the office. I opened the first drawer and the second and found what I wanted. Taking the documents, I stood up straight and turned around, only to come face to face with dad. 'If I didn't know better I'd say you've been avoiding me intentionally," he said with a frown. I chuckled in resignation and walked into his open arms, embracing him. 'So, tell me why I haven't seen you around," he said after releasing me from the tight embrace and sat down on a nearby sofa. 'Well, I've been busy with work and everything," I said, settling down the files in my hand on the table. 'Everything as in your need home?" He asked sarcastically. 'Dad," I called softly. 'I know you don't like it but it was a move that had to be taken." 'A move that had to be taken? No. A destructive move? Yes. I'm worried Danni will destroy everything you've worked for. You can never trust a man who deals in drug, don't forget how I warned you about Royce," he said 'Danni won't do that, I can assure you that I'm at the top of everything. Nothing can go wrong,"I said 'Don't be too sure, my dear. Since you told me your identity, I've never had a moment of peace. All I do is think about the dangerous things you go about doing every time." 'I'm doing fine,as you can see. Let your mind be at rest," 'I can only do that if you return home. Let's live together like we used to. Now that everything's out in the open there's no need to live in that penthouse alone." He said. My heart raced at the thought of returning to my ancestral home, living as my father's daughter again but a part of me dreads the outcome. What if I put him in danger? 'Dad, I__" The door opener before I could finish my sentence and Royce waltzed in. 'Isn't this a wonderful scene to behold? Father and his lost daughter, having a bonding time together," He said with sarcasm 'You have some guts showing your face here. How dare you walk into my daughter's office as if you own the place?" 'I came to see Myra or should I say Bella now but I never thought I'd see my ‘father-in-law' here,' " he said, smirking. In a flash,dad moved closer to Royce and slapped him across the face, making me gasp. 'You lied to me, you said she betrayed you when it was you who betrayed us all. And then you went ahead marrying her sister and then colluded with Murphy Allen to take my company away from me. You have some nerves, I'd give you that. Listen to me, young man, even if it's the last thing I do on earth, I'm going to make sure the whole world knows how much of an evil you are and what you did to my daughter." Dad said, 'And how would you manage to do that?" Royce asked,still holding his face where he got hit. 'You have no evidence and even if you did, I'll make sure to bury it and you if care is not taken, I'll bury you along with it" 'That's enough!" I voiced out as he threatened to kill dad. 'Get out of my office right now or I'll have security throw you out." 'I'm going to leave but this is not the end, you better watch out," he said and turned towards the door.
