Chapter 22 Accepting Myra I smiled again as I recounted how Myra had called Britney garbage in front of everyone. The feeling has been really satisfying. It felt good to know that someone was willing to protect and care for me. I felt light-hearted than I've been in a while and the cloud which was over me obviously had lifted. Never in a million years would I have imagined that turn of events. If Selena had been able to see me out of that mall, I'd probably be making headlines now, however, the reverse is the case. The video of her as she shouted when she's been thrown out of the mall already made my day and I've watched it like a million times and each time, the satisfaction I felt is top notch. I checked my wrist watch and checked the gate again, it was almost time for Royce to return from work and I couldn't wait to recount the whole issue. I wouldn't feel complete if I hadn't shared it with him. The engine of his car roared as it entered the compound, minutes later and I stood up, rushing to the door. I watched as his driver stopped in front of the house and opened the side of the car and he got out. I didn't wait for him to get to the door before I opened it. 'Darling," I said and hugged him tightly. He hugged me back and rubbed my back fondly. I entangled myself with him and he caught me by my shoulders, looking deep into my eyes like he always do. ' Someone looks happy! Tell me Brit, you look excited. Did something happen?" Royce asked , searching my face. He always does that, noticing even that smallest of things. 'Yes, something huge happened. Thank you for the money you gave me this morning. If it wasn't for that, I wouldn't have gotten such a good way of relieving stress and putting my enemies to shame" I said happily and Royce's brow furrowed the more. 'Okay, you need to tell me what happened because you are no longer making sense, " he said and I pulled him inside, taking his bag and suit. We walked hand in hand to our bedroom. 'So, I got out of the house towards the afternoon and went to the mall ,like you suggested I do. I haven't spent up to 30 minutes when Selena showed up." I began 'Selena as in the same Selena? Danni's wife. You don't even have to finish it. I think I know where this is going. Did she say anything demeaning to you? Royce asked in concern and I smiled. 'Ofcourse, you need to see how she humiliated me, I can't even begin to describe it. I don't know why she hated me that much. She almost tried to throw me out of the mall. For some reason, most of the attendants there followed her instructions promptly and didn't even cast a glance at me" 'Like husband, like wife. She is the same as Danni, always looking for the next trouble to cause. I wonder how they've been keeping their marriage going." Royce said in agreement.. 'You know, I'd give your private investigator some kudos with the information he provided me about Selena. When I told her how Danni had been going around sleeping with anyone in a skirt," she was so ashamed and wished the ground would open and swallow her. I think it was the sham that made her do what she did. 'If I were you, I wouldn't even take whatever she said to heart. I told you how Danni almost made me lose face with Myra right?" He said. 'You know I just realised that Myra is exactly as you said. A fly caught in our web." I told him. 'How?" 'She came just in time and bought the mall within seconds, it was as if she brought an ice-cream on a cup of coffee. I don't think I've met quite an impressive woman before. You need to see Selena's face , Myra called her garbage and threw her out. My goodness,I wish there was a way I could document that time because the sight was priceless." I said excitedly. 'She brought the mall?" Royce asked in surprise. I nodded in agreement to his questions and filled him in the more. 'Of course she did, a very demure kind of thing. She wasn't moved a bit by Selena's threat. I've never seen someone as composed as that in my entire life" 'That's exactly how she is. She's always in control of situations. I see you are happy with the outcome, seeing as you are describing it with such excitement," Royce asked smirking 'Ofcourse, I feel sorry for everything I said and thought about her last night. It was really petty of me, I shouldn't have seen her as a threat to me or to my marriage at all." I said 'Indeed, I told you right?You were just fixated on such meaningless things. She's already on our side, she's ours and will continue defending us when the need arises." Royce confirmed. ' I should have known. A woman of her calibre would never stoop low to do such a thing I thought of . Which brings me to decide that I need to show my gratitude in some kind of way" 'Gratitude, do you really have to do that? Plus, how do you intend to do that? She's already rich and well to do. How do you want to go about showing your gratitude to someone who has it all?" He queried. 'How about we invite her over? For dinner here. I'll get to thank her for saving my face and spend time outside business talks" I suggested 'I don't think she'll honour the invite. She's always too busy. It takes a lot of shuffling to get to see her most times" he said 'There's no way we'll know if she would be able to make it if we don't enquire first. I can assure you that she'll honour our invite. She's been nothing but kind to us, since she came onboard. We need to show her that we value our relationship so that she'll continue to show us her hands" 'Okay, I'll send her a message or call her even and ask what time would be best for her," he said and I smiled. As he pulled out his phone and did as he said, a wave of happiness washed over me. For a long time,I felt so secure and it looked like something was working in my way.
