Confrontation gone wrong
Chapter 55
Confrontation gone wrong
'We need to talk," I said. I didn't even let her say anything that could prevent me from doing so and I walked in. She smiled wearily as she was still in her wedding dress and her make up were smeared a bit. She looked confident for someone who's wedding just got destroyed. She didn't look as if anything happened to her,it was as if she liked what happened.
'You said you wanted to talk?" She asked as I walked in properly.
'Of course and you know exactly what I'm talking about. Our wedding got ruined by a crazy woman claiming that you are a fraud. Tell me, what do you have to say about that?" I asked calmly.
'Please tell me you don't believe what the lunatic woman said," she said emotionlessly.
'Seeing is believing Myra. When she began talking about you, you looked pale as if she had hit the nail on the head. You didn't look shocked like everyone else, you looked as if your cover had blown away. I saw you panicked"
'Like any bride! You expected me to be happy about it? Of course not and so I panicked. I haven't seen her in a while. I used to go for holidays at her place until her daughter died. Since then, she's been mixing me with quite a number of people. Sometimes, I look like her dead daughter and sometimes she says she hasn't met me before" she explained.
'I don't believe anything you say," I replied through my teeth.
'Really? You think I'm a fraud too?" She queried.
'What would you have me think? Come to think of it, ever since you showed up. No one has been able to get anything about your past. Everytime my investigator is close to finding something tangible, the evidence gets away. As if someone has altered it." I said and I immediately regretted saying it.
'Seriously? You are having me checked? Since when? Before the wedding or afterwards," she asked
'Don't divert the conversation. I'm asking you why your aunt kept shouting that you are fake on your wedding day." I said
'Because she's crazy! You yourself called her a lunatic. What were you expecting, a woman that has been in a psychiatrist hospital since I could remember because she lost her child. You want her to be okay?" She shouted and it made sense then. She was mentally unstable after all
'Then why did she show up?, especially on such an important day?"
'Exactly what you should be asking. Who would dare to do this because I certainly did not remember going to her hospital. Someone did this to ruin our wedding. Someone didn't want the wedding to hold," she reasoned and frowned.
'What do you mean? You are saying someone planned this? Who would have the guts to do that to me?"
'Maybe your ex; Britney? Only she has something to gain from the disruption. I'm sure she's happy about the turn of events right now and she's rejoicing at my downfall"
'She wouldn't dare!" I said but in my mind, I knew she was capable of doing that.
'What if she's the one?" she asks softly. 'I don't even care what she does. She can go to hell for all I care but why are you doing this to me Royce? If you don't trust me, what's the essence of all these? You keep doubting me every single time. What else do I have to do to prove my loyalty to you? I love you Royce" she said.
'Love? Are you sure? Because it looks to me as if you just love the amnesty my name will give you. And I still can't shake the feeling that you are keeping something from me." I said moving closer to her.
'That's not true and it hurts me that you are saying this," she said.
'Whether it is true or not is for me to find out and when I do, I just hope it's something I'll be able to forgive or you'll regret this," I threatened.
'You are doing exactly what you did that night with Danni, you are always accusing me of things I have no idea about. You know what? Let's call this whole damn thing off then if you won't believe me," she said to my surprise, her eyes flickering light a candle light as if she was holding back her tears.
'What?" I asked. I didn't expect that she'd ask that we cut off the engagement because of a harmless confrontation.
'Trust me, you don't mean that, " I said in disbelief.
'I do. Infact I'm tired of your constant nagging and suspicions. You trust no one and no one can trust you. I don't want to be your wife again Royce" she deadpanned.
'Are you serious? I divorced my wife for you because you wanted that and now you want to jilt me when all of this is your fault. If your lunatic aunt hadn't shown up, we wouldn't be discussing it!" I screamed.
'Maybe my lunatic aunt's display was a blessing in disguise. Afterall, I'm finally able to see you for who you are," she said. Her tone and face told me that she wasn't joking at all and I began to panic. I can't have her leave me when I haven't even got what I want. And the whole world would laugh at my downfall. I studied her quickly and thought about what I could say or do and then I did something I didn't think I could do.
I pulled her closer and kissed her on the lips. She froze in my hands. It wasn't the first time we'd shared a kiss but deep in me I knew the kiss had nothing to do with passion but rather it was to make her forget about the whole thing and enable me to distract her a bit.
She gasped in shock and I used that little opportunity to shove my tongue into her mouth, hoping for a deeper kiss. She tried to push me away but I had more than enough power to stop her from doing that. My eyes found the nearest wall and I pushed her hard into it. I grabbed her waist tight and began to fondle her chest with my other hand when she hit me in the mid section with her knee, a calculated move that took me by surprise
'What the hell, are you crazy?" I asked as I groaned in pain.
'Yes I'm crazy. You think your stupid games will work on me?" She said with her as she wiped her lips clean as if she was trying to get every part of me that touched her lips away.
‘I'm done with you Royce Robben. You are a selfish bastard who thinks about no one but himself." She added.
‘I'll make sure you regret this," I said as I tried to catch my breath in between and gently massage my balls.
'I'm not one to regret easily, Royce, remember that."
With that she opened the door for me and moved aside. She wanted me out of her room and I got it right. I eyed her suspiciously and then began to limp out of her room for good.
