Chapter 28 Danni's attack It was the weekend and I had plenty of time at hand. We've spent more than a week in Italy and we were close to finishing up the critical part of the deal,the rest now lies with the architectural work. It has also been a week since the accidental kiss between Myra and I. She has been avoiding me since the incident and wouldn't speak to me except when necessary. I didn't know whether it was a good thing or not. A part of me was relieved by that but a larger part of me was frustrated beyond normal level. The tension between us was strong and I didn't like it one bit. Myra was the life of the party and so, I felt lonely without having her around. ‘How can you say it like that?' a part of me chatisized myself. Myra is my colleague for crying out loud. I tried to push the thought of the kiss away from my mind but I couldn't. How could I? The contact was brief but I swear I could still feel the pressure on my lips, her soft moan, her smell, the softness of her lips on mine and the way her bossom was pressed tightly to my chest ‘Crap!' I muttered under my breath as I raked my hands through my hair, sitting on the edge of the arm chair in the balcony of my suite and looking at the ocean. The memories from that night were hypnotic but at the same time, it felt wrong. I wanted more but I didn't want to experience more. I was a thin line from crossing over the professional line between us, Myra is a vital part of Crest Oils deal, so how could I see her in the selfish way I was seeing her? 'I have to talk to her," I said in the empty corridor. The silence between us has been making things quite difficult and everytime I tried getting across, she was already fleeing. My phone buzzed unexpectedly and I jumped with fright, I took it from the pocket of my robe and saw the ID. I frowned,it was one of my underlings from my drug dealing business. 'I told you to not call me unless I call, can you not listen to instructions?" I ranted on, immediately I picked the call. I tried as much as possible to not make this other part of me known to the world and that is the reason, I contact them on my burner phone rather than my normal phone. 'I'm sorry I broke the protocol but there was nothing else I could do," he said in a voice filled with tension and heavy breathings . His voice made me sit upright in my chair and I became worried. 'We encountered some problems boss, I didn't have a choice than to call," he said and my heart sank 'What problem are you talking about?" I asked 'Danni de Black, he found out about the deal. He has infiltrated the plan and managed to get it for himself. Our boys who want to secure the deal were all killed, only I managed to escape," he said, making me shot up from the chair 'How the hell did Danni find out, Jay? I told you to be discreet about it you bloody fool. Do you know what this means?" I asked in anger 'I'm not sure how he found out, I've contacted the rest of the cliques, we'll get to the bottom,but boss, both the supplier and deal are off the table" he added. 'What's the importance of finding out when the deal is gone?"I asked in anger. The deal was the only way I could manage to fund the Crest Oils business. I've spent quite a lot on getting the deal, it almost slipped but for the timely intervention of Myra. Now that I finally got my hand on it, plans had been made on how I'd get everything perfected from selling the drugs. If Danni managed to disrupt this deal, I'll be in trouble, no! I'll be put to shame and the end result would be catastrophic! I thought 'I don't care how you do it but find the dealer,get him back on board even if you have to pluck out his eyes. Find him or you'll be dead," I threatened and ended the call. 'Damn!" I exclaimed, hitting the railing and holding it firmly till my knuckles turned white. Danni was going beyond his boundaries, first he tried shit with me during the deal and now this? Who the hell does he think he is to do this? I have to do something about Danni or he'd do something much worse than this. He was doing all of this because he was pained that I ruled the drug world. He had been wanting control but every time I was a step ahead of him and this must have led him to this. It was high time I found a way to deal with him, I need a plan as soon as possible or Danni would remain a thorn in my flesh. My phone buzzed again the second time and I was ready to call Jay to order when I saw that it was an unknown number. I picked it up and put it in my ears. 'Royce Robben," the thick voice came in and I furrowed my brow, trying to get the voice. 'You must have gotten the little gift I prepared" the voice said again and I got it. 'Danni," I said as I recognised the voice, 'how dare you?" I added in anger. 'Do you not fear what I might do to you?" I asked 'Oh please, cut the fucking crap. You know, it's funny how you are never content. You have a flourishing hotel business and yet you want to hold on to the drug deal? How selfish can you be." ‘It's none of your business how I run my things, you have no fucking busi___" 'It's my fucking business! Leave the drug business for those who can handle it and face your goddamn business," he said in a tight voice 'Those who can handle it? You mean you who has always been second to me for as long as I could remember?" I asked with a smirk 'That was then, the tides have changed, I have the deal now and there's nothing you can do. I want to see how you would fund your little Crest Oils deal. I can't wait to see you put to shame," he said and I clenched my fist in anger. The fool does know how to calculate, how could he possibly connect the dots together? 'You are all over the place Royce, " he continued. 'You can't keep ruling in the business world and want to still rule in the other world too. You'll lose if you try chasing two rabbits at the same time" 'I can do it, I have been doing it and I will keep doing it." I retorted. 'Can you now?" He asked mockingly. 'We'll see," he said and the beeping sound came afterwards, the bastard had ended the call before I could reply. 'Royce?" I heard within the room and turned around. It was Myra 'I knocked a couple of times but you wouldn't answer,I was worried and the door wasn't locked, so I helped myself in, " she said. 'You look tense,is everything okay?" She asked 'Nothing,just some damn investors, " I replied and she nodded. 'Here's the detailed plan for the meeting we'll be having tomorrow. I thought you might need help since your assistant is caught up with a lot of work," she said. 'Thank you Myra," I said and began to walk towards her but she dropped the files and turned around, ready to flee again. 'Wait" I said. You've been avoiding me for almost a week now,did I do something wrong?" She took a look at me and looked away as if she wasn't going to reply. She turned and quickened her pace but I ran after her before she could reach the door. 'Talk to me," I said with authority. I'm not avoiding you, I'm just…I feel ashamed for what I did. I mean, even if I like you, I shouldn't have kissed you. You are a married man and your wife is my friend. I'm sorry Royce, I better keep my distance before I make another silly mistake" she said and yanked her hands away from mine. 'She likes me?" I thought. Myra Cullen, the beautiful and brilliant CEO, likes me? Could that be the reason she has been helping me and Britney all these time? The reason why she has been appearing everywhere I go? This would have been easy if I wasn't married, I wouldn't want any scandal that would tarnish my image. When I married Britney months after the death of Bella,the media went frenzy and wouldn't stop talking about how quickly I got over her. It took me a lot of money to silence them all. ‘What if Myra is the solution to your problem,' a voice said in my head. ‘Danni has caused a problem with the cut deal and Myra has the money you need for the deal. It would cost you nothing to give her what she wants. You only have to get her to trust you and give you what you want too. It's a win win situation' 'Myra" I called her just before she opened the door and she stopped, turning around. I looked into her innocent face and decided then that I had to make use of the chance I had. She has more than enough,so why not?
