38- Selfishness
The next day everyone was getting ready for engagement. Isra was getting ready, smiling at her reflection, setting her dress.
Rayan smiled and hugged her from behind, putting his chin on her shoulder, wrapping his hands around her waist, loving her perfectly as her body twirls around his hands.
"You know. When I look at you, I find my meaning of life. I still think it is a dream but whenever I know it's not, I realize dreams also become reality, time is only a trial of my love." He whispered in her ears seductively, kissing her neck tenderly, murmuring.
" Whenever I look at you, I know, Not all yearnings are meaningless." He said, chaining their eyes together in-depthly.
"Were you always this?" She asked, looking at him through the reflection, curling her lips in a smile, chuckling faintly at his demeanor.
"Hmm. I was but you didn't notice." He smirked, kissing her cheeks. She chuckled, turning her face to him.
'Well, now I am doing it, I must say you are smooth as hell."
"Then let this hell be your heaven." He winked, tempting her.
"What if it is?" She winked back, turning to him, wrapping her arms around his neck.
"Then I won't regret dying now." He said earnestly.
"Hey, don't speak like this." she frowned, getting away from him.
"Anything for you Milady." He laughed a little, giving her a side hug.
"Don't love me too much that I get complex." She said playfully but only she knew she meant her words deeply.
"Silly, who gets complex in love?" Rayan laughed, considering her words frivolous.
"Who knows? Too much love is not healthy." She smirked, not showing, playing with his shirt.
"I don't know about too much love but."
Pausing, he took her hand in his, indulging in the perfect entwine of their fingers.
"All of my love is for you."
She could feel her heart rate enhancing by his words, creating a beautiful rhythm between them which lasted with an intense eye contact of five seconds before pulling away.
"Uh..I will check up on Hoorain." He said, clearing his throat, going out of the room nervously although the pull was unfavorable on both sides.
"Okay." She mumbled, hugging her sides, missing his warmth when he left.
Isra grinned to herself. She was mentally prepared to take things to the next level, she was ready to arouse an irresistible relationship with him.
When he has devoted himself to her, why can't she do it too?
After getting ready, Smiling, she walked out to show Rayan her final look and ask for his opinion because now they matter a lot, they did before too but she avoided them deliberately.
In Hoorain's room, she called both of her brothers to tell them something, to make a confession before making an irredeemable mistake.
She was sitting on the bed, dressed elegantly for the event but the lamentation in her eyes caused a pitch silence to fall upon the room.
"Is everything okay, Hoorain?" Emraz asked, worried for his sister's silence, enhancing a glance with Rayan.
"Are you okay, Hoorain?" Rayan asked.
Gulping hard, she finally began to say, "Bhai.. I want to tell you something."
"What is it?" Emraz asked.
"Bhai... I.. I.."
She tried to speak but couldn't, sitting beside her, rubbing her shoulder, Emraz reassured his beloved sister.
"You don't have to be afraid, what is it?" He asked sweetly.
"I heard everything that day."
She blurted out, shutting her eyes, tightening her grip on her dress, leaving them baffled.
"Heard what?"
They both asked at the same time.
"Rayan-" Isra called, holding the doorknob from the other side but a voice came.
"I know why Emraz Bhai ran away. It was you Rayan Bhai." She said sadly as Isra's whole being stopped for a second. Hoping deeply what she heard was wrong, a lie.
Please be a lie...
"Why are you bringing this now?" Rayan asked sternly, not wanting to remember that day.
"Because it led me down a wrong path. I.. I also become selfish in love.. depraved.. I lied to you, Rayan Bhai.." She whispered, heartbroken, shocking him to no extent.
"Hoorain, please don't tell me-"
Rayan paused in appall, eyes widened in horror when she lifted her heavy gaze and whispered in a croaked tone, "I am so sorry..."
"How could you, Hoorain?!" Rayan whisper-yelled, leaving her startled.
"What happened? What are you talking about? Why are you yelling at her?" Emraz asked angrily, hugging Hoorain and glaring at Rayan for yelling at her.
"Ask your beloved sister what she did. How her love blinded her."
Rayan growled, sending a death-glare at Hoorain who was quivering in fright under his rage, hugging Emraz tightly.
"What are you saying? Hoorain...? Love, what happened?" He asked, pulling away, holding her hands to reassure her, sniffling and forcing the lump down, and she began to say.
"When I saw Rayan bhai confessing his love for Isra Bhabhi at your wedding... It evoked wrong intentions in me... I lost myself before my unspoken attraction.. I am so sorry-"
Hoorain was about to break into a cry but Isra entered. "Hoorain."
Rayan's breath hitched as a look of horror spread across the sibling's faces to see her, "Isra." Rayan whispered apprehensively, feeling the home he finally found is going to crash.
"What is she talking about?" She asked in a croaked voice.
"Isra.. Listen. Isra-"
Rayan tried to speak but Isra cut him, "Rayan, what is she saying? She is kidding, isn't she? You can't go that far... don't you? Right? You were always there for my best, for me..." She asked hopefully, not believing Rayan could do something like this.
Rayan always steals her tears away, he always eradicates any sorrow before reaching her... he can't become the reason for her tears... Can he?
"What happened? Answer, Rayan. Tell me it's a lie. It was... accidental.. Wasn't it? That Emraz left on his own not because of you... Please tell me, Rayan. Don't remain silent, you are scaring me. Say it's not you." She asked hopefully, coming closer and putting her hand over his chest, smiling faintly, refusing to believe it.
'Isra, please, listen." He whispered, putting his hand over hers.
"No, I don't want to listen. Tell me it wasn't you. I know you could never do this. Hoorain must have heard something wrong." She whispered desperately.
'You always prioritize my happiness, you have always loved me, put my smiles before anything else. It wasn't you, Rayan... Right? You can never do this, ruining my very marriage. It's a misunderstanding." She asked expectantly.
Curling her lips in a trembling smile, not letting him go, pulling his shirt.
"Why are you silent, Rayan? Tell me, say something. Please."
Her voice broke, not wanting to believe he had done it but his silence gave her terrible omens, cracking her heart, "Answer, Rayan!"
"Yes! It was me. Once... For once I became selfish.. I lost my identity... I couldn't watch it, I couldn't bear it... you were killing me by your act of ignorance... I lost myself... I became what I wasn't and... Did that."
He replied in a broken tone, breathless, heartbroken
He began to tell her what happened that day where he lost himself before his selfishness, the day where his facade shattered.
