29- Late Anyways
The time for anniversary came and Rayan got ready wearing a black coat and black shirt and opened the first two buttons of his shirt, attaching a brooch from his front pocket to lapel, his enchanting form enhance when this hairs were combed backwards, seemingly a heart throbbing bachelor but in reality he was a lost soul await cognition from the one he connected his heart with.
He was waiting for Isra so they could leave for the big function and she came, looking irresistibly enthralling in a black Saree, from those lacy sleeves to the exposed back everything compelled him to lock his eyes with hers, feeling his heart skipping a beat by looking at her like this. How her semi-curl hairs were resting on one side, even showing the collarbone he wanted to kiss badly.
"How do I look?" She asked, stopping in front of him, showing him her dress with a gentle smile, "After capturing my heart you are still asking this?" He smiled, coming closer. "Perfect but if you wear a pair of anklets to match with the diamond necklace it will complete your form." He chuckled, taking the car keys, knowing she would never act upon his words. How many times are you going to notice every single detail about me? She thought, staring at his face intensely.
"Come on, let's go." he offered her to leave but she took a step back, "No, Wait a minute." He hummed, shrugging what she needs now. "What is it? Do you need something?" He asked, stopping, glancing over her. "Yeah, just a sec." She smiled, going back to the room as he stood baffled.
Running away will lead you nowhere Isra so at least try to work it out. This demeanor will lead you nowhere, you have to put efforts from your side. Mentally scolding herself, she took out the pair of anklets he gifted her at their wedding and walked out, "Help me wear it." She said, sitting down, lifting her dress.
Rayan was astonished as it was the first time she acted upon his words, "Are... are you sure?" He asked in disbelief. "Is there a problem?"
"No! No... s-sure.." He nodded, nervous. What happened to her? He thought and bent on one knee on the ground, securing the anklet around her foot as she sat on the couch, staring intensely at his face making his heart swing unmanageably.
Please don't look at me. He thought, barely containing himself.
Please look at me. She thought, started growing keen when his fingers touched her skin. Swallowing hard, he wore it around and didn't let go of her Foot, moving his head upwards, staring back at her with the same intensity, speaking what he regretted instantly, "Can I kiss them?" What the hell am I saying!?
"What? No. Don't be absurd" She chuckled nervously, taking his hand in hers, "You don't belong there." But, that's where you kept me. He thought sadly. She said sincerely, pulling her foot away from him, standing up, not letting go of his hand. "Sorry.." He mumbled, pulling his hand away from hers, she was taken aback by disappointment, not moving, only staring at him. "What?" He asked casually but she looked down, skeptical about her next words.
"Rayan..." She called his name which made his heart skip a beat. "You.. always ask me, today, I ask you.." She voice was slumped in sorrow, holding her dress as he narrowed his eyes in perplexity, "Don't you want to marry me?" She asked, deeply distressed, he was absolutely stunned at her innocent statement, afraid to know the answer.
Should I consider this an insult? He thought painfully. "What do you think?" He asked softly, approaching her steadily, "Sometimes your actions are contrary to your words." Her tone was still vexed, urging to know what pushes him away.
"So are yours. Did I complain?" His feeble voice came out, resting his hand in his pocket, hovering over her, "I am not complaining. I am just asking."
"Besides, if you don't complain, that's your kindness." She mumbled, holding her elbow, not meeting his eyes, "Or my vulnerability, perhaps." He smiled, bringing his face extremely close to hers, "Why..." She paused, forcing her orbs to collide with his,
"Why what?"
"Why do you maintain distance from me?" Her voice grew husky, "Better than leading to regret, to square one where I am a nobody. I honestly don't want to go through it." He chuckled dryly, moving back, "Why do you think this will be repeated?"
"Why not? I trust your emotions, they could turn in the next moment." He shrugged, mocking her. "You... scared me back then." She breathed out, hugging herself.
"And you neglected me for five years because of it." He hissed. "And I have no intentions of startling you anymore." He breathed out, calming down, "I will fulfill all my obligations, place you above everyone else, devote my last ounce of affection and attention. You don't have to force anything upon yourself." He smiled tenderly, offering his hand, making a crying face. She asked, "Why do you want to be the good guy?"
"Being the bad guy has its consequences I honestly don't want to face." He chuckled faintly, still offering his hand. "Am I not allowed in your group?" She asked, pouting, looking away but he laughed a little, taking her hand anyways, leading her forward, "Darling, you reside in this heart, you don't need a category. You will always be its ruler, now or ever." He smiled purely, leading her forward.
"Don't you get tired?" She asked softly, staring at his face in mesmerization, "Did I, before?" He asked, smirking, averting her gaze with a faint blush, she pulled her hand back, "Stop trying to hex me."
"I never intend to." He shrugged, "You clearly are." She frowned, "Oh, is that so?" He teased, leaning closer, deepening her blush but before he could come closer, his phone rang,
"Rayan? Where are you, everyone is waiting for you." His Father called and he cursed under his breath, realizing they were late. "Argh, I am so sorry, Father. We will be there soon." He said. "Be quick."
"Yeah, Yeah," Cutting the call he looked up at Isra, "You made me like you." He frowned, "What?"
"We are late. Your habit travels in the ones around you, Look." he sighed, showing her time, "Oh my God, I didn't even notice!" She gasped, "This is contagious." He teased and she didn't reply, in a sense it was right. "I didn't mean to." She retorted.
"Well, we are late anyways." They chuckled a little as they both left for the ceremony finally..
