Chapter 069
VIENNA'S POV
I woke up because of a noise coming from outside. Michelle is not here and neither Mom and Uncle Lucas. What going on outside? But suddenly the door opened and Therese entered.
"It's good you're awake," she said as she got closer in my direction.
"What's going on outside? Where's Michelle?" I asked.
'Sebastian is here with his dad and Michelle is outside," she replied to my surprise. I thought he wouldn't come here.
"Wait a minute, I'll go out for a while to tell Uncle Kristopher that you're awake," she said and she left in front of me as well. After a minute, the door opened and Uncle Kristopher enter but he was not with Sebastian.
"Hi Vienna, how are you?" he asked worriedly as he got closer in my direction. He dropped a basket of fruit on the table and sat down next to me.
"I'm fine, Uncle. For God's sake, I didn't get injured, and there's nothing wrong with my brain. My back and head just hurt—maybe because they hit the wall. Don't worry, Uncle, I'm fine," I replied.
"I'm sorry Vienna, I apologize for what Sebastian did. I've already talked to him and he regrets what he did to you."
"It's okay, Uncle, don't feel sorry for me. He didn't mean what happened, we're both at fault. I'm sorry if I judged your son, please forgive me," I said sadly.
"He's used to being judged by a lot of people, what you did is not new to him. It's just that, he just can't believe that even you will judge him because of his behavior. I understand you Vienna, I know you can't stand it anymore so you said that to him." I didn't intentionally hurt Sebastian emotionally, I just couldn't bear to see him hurting my fellow woman.
"Sebastian is a good son—responsible and caring—but when it comes to his mom, his behavior changes. He has learned to hurt women, whether physically or emotionally, and that's how he vents his anger toward his mom. It's been a long time since his mom left him, and the woman he loves also walked away. I understand him, but I just can't accept that because his mom abandoned him, he feels justified in hurting women—something he never used to do."
I suddenly remembered the things he did that I never expected a man could do. The first was with Liezel, the second was when he slapped Denise yesterday, and the third was when he accidentally pushed me. And the reason behind all of it is his mom.
"Vienna." Uncle suddenly took my hand. I looked at him and the only thing I could see now in his eyes was the sadness and worry for his son.
"I hope you can help Sebastian forget and forgive his mom. I know he will listen to you, you will be the one to make him understand."
"Okay Uncle, I'll help Sebastian."
"Thank you, Vienna." And he immediately hugged me, I couldn't stop myself from hugging him back. I don't know if I can stand what I told him, but I will try to help his son as much as I can.
SEBASTIAN'S POV
I didn't even realize that I had been already out here from the hospital. I also stopped and faced Aunt Venice who was walking in my direction. I don't know what we're going to talk about but I think it's all about Vienna.
"Martin," she said when she came in front of me.
"Don't call me by that name," I said without emotion.
"Why did you do that thing in Vienna? You promised me you would never hurt my daughter," she said after a few minutes of silence.
"I didn't mean to hurt your daughter and I don't have plan to do that. I have a word and I kept it even though your daughter can no longer recognize me. What I did to her, is one of the things I regret and it will never happen again. I will promise you that." She fell silent because of my response and she immediately looked away from me. But I still kept looking at her.
"Don't tell Vienna who you were in her life back then," she suddenly said making my hands clenched into fists.
"Let us tell her about it. We'll take care of everything, Sebastian."
"I have no plans to admit and tell her the truth," I replied to her surprise.
"When I was with her, I lost control. I wasn't forced, it was my decision for your daughter. Because I know that even if I tell her who I really am in her life, things will never go back to the way they were before. You know how much I love your daughter, but I will stop these feelings for her before I get hurt again."
The tears I had been holding back finally fell. I'm not the kind of person who cries in front of others, but because of the pain I'm feeling, I can't hold it in any longer.
"I'm sorry Sebastian if you only knew everything I wouldn't stop you from doing what you want, but I have to do it for Vienna," she said sadly.
"Don't worry, I understand. But I hope you don't take too long, and Vienna should be the first to know. I know you're aware of the consequences.. no matter what, we will still hurt Vienna. I'm leaving now.. please tell your daughter that I visited her."
I felt so heavy, and the pain doubled because of the decision I had to make.. a decision I never wanted. I love Vienna, but I will stop. The love she once felt for me has been left in the past, and everything we had is now buried.
I can see how happy she is whenever she's with Tine. I see the genuine smile she used to show only to me. Her laughter makes my chest ache, but I'm no longer the reason for it—he is. It hurts, but I will accept that I'm no longer the one she loves. If she's happy with him, then I'll let her go. I'll give her to someone who can make her happier.
I love you so much, Vienna.. but I'll give you up. I love you, but I will stop.'
