Chapter 083
It's already 7 in the morning but I'm still here in my room, silently looking at the two boxes. And hoping that I would remember something, but there was nothing.
Last night, I stared at Martin's face several times but I couldn't really remember him. And the only thing on my mind at that time was Sebastian's serious face. I don't know why maybe this is the effect once you like someone. You think about him even if you don't want to think about him.
'But why all of the sudden did Sebastian have this effect on me? Do I already love him?'
"Vienna.. breakfast is ready, come downstairs and you might be late for your class. Vienna do you hear me? Are you already awake?"
I didn't answer my brother, I just stood up and took my bag. I woke up early to take a shower and get dressed, but I didn't leave the room immediately after doing that.
I opened the door and he was obviously surprised to see me but I just ignored it. I silently passed him and walked down the stairs. He just followed behind me but I'm sure he was surprised because of what I did.
When I got to the dining area, I immediately sat down in an empty chair and took some food. Brother and I faced each other but his eyes were serious once his eyes landed on me.
"Vienna, where did you come from yesterday? Why did you come home late at night?" Uncle Lucas asked, causing my brother and mom to look at him.
"At the shop..." I answered briefly.
Mom and brother didn't know that I was late when I came home yesterday, only Uncle Lucas. I caught him in the living room, watching TV while drinking coffee. Mom was in their room and she thought, I locked myself in the room all day. And my brother, he was in his shop and also went home late at night, so they didn't know that I left.
"Shop? What time did she come home last night, Uncle?" my brother asked wondering and frowning while looking at me.
"Around.. 8 in the evening," Uncle replied hesitantly. This time, my brother frowned even more and Mom looked at me seriously.
"Your shop closes at 7 pm but why did you go home late? Where did you go Vienna?" my brother said angrily causing me to let go of the spoon I was holding. But I remained silent and just looked at the plate in front of me.
"Vienna, answer your brother," Mom said making me sigh.
"After the shop closed, I went to the Baywalk," I answered, making the three of them fell silenced.
After Sir Francisco and I talked, I spent time in the shop and focused only on working. I helped Sister Jessie so I could somehow forget what happened yesterday. And when the shop closed by 7 pm, I still didn't go home and I preferred to go to Baywalk even though I was alone. When I saw the sea, I felt relieved and at that time, my mind became peaceful. As if my thoughts were suddenly removed.
"It took you an hour? Are you kidding us?! Vienna?" My brother shouted angrily. I clenched my hand, I didn't think that he would react like that once he found out that I went home late at night. Mom is calm but he's very angry.
"Vince.. calm down, you and your sister can talk about it later. Let her eat first and you might be late," said Uncle Lucas.
"I went to Antipolo, to our old house," I said, making the three of them surprised. I laughed a little because of their reaction. They are obviously hiding something from me.
"Why are you so surprised? Can't I go there anymore?" I laughed. But Mom suddenly let go of the spoon she was holding, causing me to look at her seriously. My brother avoided looking at me but his hand was shaking and it was noticeable. He was nervous.
"How did you get there? Who helped you?" Mom asked seriously.
"Mother Selda.." I answered without emotion.
"If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't have been able to go there and I wouldn't have known that the title of the house was named after me," I added, making her avert her gaze.
"Vienna, let's just talk about it tonight."
"Why Uncle? Why not tonight if we can talk about it now? The four of us are already here, let's talk about it now. After all, you gave me a reason to say it. Right? Brother?"
"Vienna, this is not the right time to talk about that. Vince, go, take your sister with you," Mom said as she stood up.
"Are you hiding something from me?" I coldly said causing her to stop. I slowly looked up and looked at the three of them without emotion.
"Because if there isn't, we should have talked about it by now but it seems that you've been avoiding something. It's not just about the house but more than that. Am I right, Mom?"
"Vienna let me explain.."
"Explain what? Will you also explain the reasons why you kept Martin a secret from me?" I said which surprised the two of them. I'm not surprised, in the first place I know and I'm sure they know Martin. I'm not wrong, they know something.
This would not be the right time to talk about that matter. But I couldn't stop myself because of my brother. He just gave me an excuse to tell them what I found out.
"Why are you silent? Is it because I'm right or because you didn't think I would know about him?" I laughed. "I don't remember him but I know who he is in my life. I can't believe that you kept this a secret from me for more than three years. Why? What are you afraid of? Are you afraid that I might get hurt? Mom, I'm used to it and you know that," I added.
"We are afraid of what might happen once you know the reason why we kept it a secret from you about him," my brother answered.
"Vienna, your brother and I didn't do it on purpose, we were just worried about you so we did it," Mom said while crying.
"I understand, you are just worried about me but I have the right to know about him. I can't even remember him but I feel that he is important in my life." Mom immediately came toward me but I suddenly stepped back which makes her stop.
"Did that guy do something bad to you to keep me away from him?" I asked, causing the tears that I had been holding back to burst out.
"Vienna.. let us explain to you," said my brother.
"Why did you just say that now? When I don't need your explanation anymore," I responded without emotion.
"How many times have I begged and asked for your help? But you have not helped me and you have not answered my questions. Now that I no longer need your explanation, then you will say that? Where is my brother now? Who is ready to help me at any time? Has it disappeared? or has it changed?" I added.
I turned to Mom, but she was still crying while Uncle Lucas hugged her. I just sighed and immediately wiped the tears that were falling down my cheeks.
"You don't have to explain to me, I'll find the answer. I'm leaving," I said and walked out of the house. When I got outside, I went straight to my car.
"Vienna! Vienna!" I closed the door when I heard my brother's voice. I didn't look at him but I felt his presence.
"What else are you going to say?" I asked and slowly faced him.
"Vienna please, let me explain. Forgive me if I kept things about him a secret from you. I didn't mean it Vienna, I was forced to do it for your own good," he cried. This was the first time I saw him crying but I didn't feel pity. Anger prevailed in my heart because of what he did.
"Let's talk about that another day, let's go-"
"When did you find out about him?" He cut me off.
"We're going to be late if we talk about that. Let's go."
"Answer my question first." I held my breath in no time.
"In the past few weeks, at the orphanage," I answered briefly but he didn't seem to believe what I said.
"How did you know?"
"And why do you want to know? That's not important. I'm going first, be careful." I got into the car, started the engine, and left.
I want to listen to his explanation but I'm losing the will to listen. I'm no longer interested in whatever he has to say and I'd rather find the answer myself. I hope they will understand.
