Chapter 14: Admiring Him
Chloe was unaware of what happened at the kindergarten. After leaving the kindergarten, she headed straight to the research institute established by Professor Huntington.
Upon entering the institute, she spotted a handsome and refined man, dressed in a formal shirt and trousers, walking towards her.
"Chloe, welcome back. I'm glad we can work together again in the future," said Michael Rawlins, stopping in front of her and extending his hand in a gentlemanly manner.
Chloe nodded slightly, shook his hand briefly, and quickly withdrew.
Previously, Michael had also worked with Andrew Huntington's team abroad, handling various research and development matters. During that time, he served as her assistant and earned unanimous recognition from her and Andrew Huntington due to his qualifications from a prestigious university.
Chloe's attitude was neither warm nor cold, and Michael didn't mind. He smiled and said, "Let me take you to your office."
With that, he turned and led the way, introducing her to the structure and key personnel of the institute along the journey.
Upon reaching the office, Michael smiled at Chloe. "This was arranged according to your previous preferences. Linda's workstation is right outside."
Chloe glanced around the office, nodded in satisfaction, and said, "It's great. Thank you."
Michael paused for a moment, the smile on his face appearing somewhat gentle, and his voice softened as he said, "You're welcome. No need to be formal with me."
As he spoke, the admiration in his eyes towards Chloe was unmistakable. Even knowing that she was the mother of two children couldn't diminish his admiration for her. After all, from any perspective, Chloe was undoubtedly an outstanding woman, so exceptional that it could overshadow any of her flaws.
Chloe didn't notice the way he looked at her. After a brief survey of the office, she turned to Michael and said, "I came here today to gain an on-site understanding of the specific operations of the institute. Could you please show me around?"
Michael's smile remained on his face. "Of course."
Chloe nodded casually, indicating for him to lead the way.
Michael turned and walked ahead, his smile carrying a hint of bitterness. He genuinely liked Chloe, but she regarded him as just an ordinary subordinate. This situation was giving him a headache.
Leaving the office area, the two headed straight for the core region of the research institute.
In the experimental area, they saw researchers wearing lab coats and masks, busy at various experimental stations. Chloe didn't disturb them, only asking Michael for a brief introduction to each project and its research progress.
By the afternoon, Chloe had more or less grasped the situation of the research institute. At the same time, she identified a crucial issue. During their tour of the experimental area, they found that the foundational work area was not in operation.
Chloe inquired with the researchers and learned that they were waiting for the supply of required drugs from the institute.
This situation persisted for several instances. Due to the delayed supply of drugs, several projects had to be temporarily halted, significantly increasing the time cost required for the projects. Consequently, the research institute incurred considerable losses.
Coming out of the experimental area, Chloe furrowed her brows, looking at Michael with a serious expression, "The issue of research being suspended due to slow drug supply—what's going on? Haven't you tried to find a solution?"
