Chapter 20: The Relationship Between That Man and Her
After leaving the private room, Chloe had nowhere to go, so she hid in the stairwell. Leaning against the wall, she gasped for breath, raising her hand to touch her lips, which still bore the pain from the kiss, seemingly retaining the warmth of the man.
After a moment, she self-mockingly lowered her gaze. For so many years, she thought she had no feelings left for Quintus. However, with just one encounter, her heart was effortlessly stirred by him.
Taking a moment to compose herself and stabilize her emotions, she returned to the private room. The employees inside were still lively, and upon seeing her come back, they toned down their excitement slightly.
Michael noticed that she seemed different from when she left, furrowing his brows. "Why did you take so long? Did something happen? You... seem a bit off?"
Chloe smiled as if nothing had happened, shaking her head casually. "Nothing, just made a call to my sons."
With that said, she sat down without giving Michael a chance to inquire further.
She had been away for quite a while. Upon her return, everyone had almost finished eating and drinking. With no mood to continue, she suggested everyone disperse.
As the group walked downstairs together, the employees bid farewell to Chloe and Michael. Once they left, only the two of them remained.
Michael kindly suggested, "If you don't mind, I'll take you home. You've had quite a bit to drink tonight, and I'm worried."
Chloe nodded slightly without refusing, "Thank you."
Since returning to the country, she hadn't had the chance to get herself a car for transportation. It seemed like something she needed to prioritize.
"My pleasure." Michael stepped forward to open the car door for her.
Chloe thanked him again and got into the car directly.
At the same time, at the entrance of the restaurant, Hudson watched nervously as his boss walked away. Why was it so coincidental? They happened to see Chloe getting into another man's car. As they watched the car slowly drive away, Hudson cautiously raised his eyes to glance at his boss's expression.
Quintus's face was gloomy, his gaze tightly fixed on that car. After a while, he withdrew his gaze and gritted his teeth, instructing Hudson, "Go and find out who that man is! What's his relationship with her!"
Hudson hurriedly acknowledged the order.
In the Ellington family Mansion.
When Quintus entered, it was already 9 PM. He glanced at the living room and didn't see Grace. He furrowed his brows slightly, "Where's Grace?"
Mirana, who was responsible for taking care of Grace, was coming down from upstairs. "Mr. Ellington, Grace has already taken a bath and is in her room. Do you want to go up and check on her?"
Quintus nodded slightly and headed upstairs.
"Oh, there's one more thing..." Mirana hesitated before speaking, "When she came back tonight, there was a heavy bruise on her wrist. I asked her, but she refused to tell me. I don't know if she was bullied at kindergarten, but I think we should check."
Quintus's expression darkened slightly, "I see. I'll go up and take a look."
He quickened his pace to Grace's door, raised his hand, and knocked.Soon, Grace came to open the door. She saw him but didn't react much. After opening the door, she turned and went inside. Quintus followed behind her, seeing the little girl return to the table, holding a paintbrush and concentrating on something. Observing her serious expression, he didn't disturb her.
After a while, when she put down the brush, he spoke in a deep voice, "Mirana said you were injured. Let Daddy take a look."
