Chapter 30: Questioning Her Abilities
Quickly, they approached Chloe.
Grace, held by her Daddy, eagerly stared at the beautiful lady nearby, her expression unusually joyful.
Chloe, being scrutinized by this father-daughter pair with distinct gazes, momentarily didn't know how to react.
Fortunately, the man in front broke the silence, speaking first, "Are you the doctor recommended by Dr. Rawlins to treat my grandfather?"
Chloe adjusted her expression, smiling lightly, "Yes, it's me. I'm Chloe. Nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you too, Dr. Stanhope," The man extended his hand to her. "I'm Felix Quilliam, and this is my sister, Amy Quilliam."
He then glanced at the man behind them, Quintus, "And this is my friend, Quintus."
Chloe nodded calmly, greeting each of them.
As the words fell, a vaguely mocking hum echoed in her ears, seemingly carrying a hint of sarcasm. Chloe lowered her eyes, concealing the unusual emotions beneath.
Beside her, Amy scrutinized her for a moment, her attractive eyebrows slightly furrowed. She doubted, "Are you the doctor who claims to be able to treat my grandfather? You look about the same age as us. I'm afraid you haven't been in the field for long. Are you sure you can really do it?"
Her attitude was somewhat similar to the butler's earlier. However, this was the patient's relative. Even if Chloe didn't care about her questioning, it was different.
She was about to explain when Felix smiled apologetically, "I'm sorry. My sister is just worried about our grandfather going through more distress. His condition is quite serious. We've sought renowned doctors from both inside and outside the country, but none could help. After all, there have been quite a few doctors who gave us hope only to disappoint us. We might be a bit cautious. Please don't mind."
Felix turned to give his sister a stern look, "Dr. Stanhope is here to treat our grandfather. How can you be so impolite? Apologize to Dr. Stanhope."
Reluctantly, Amy averted her eyes and mumbled, "I'm sorry."
Chloe hadn't taken offense initially, and upon hearing the apology, she calmly smiled at them, "It's okay. After all, he is your family, and it's natural for you to have concerns. I completely understand. However, regarding my abilities, you can rest assured. Despite my young age and not appearing as seasoned as those veteran doctors, I have researched many difficult and complex cases abroad in recent years. While my experience may not match those who've been in the field for decades, I am absolutely confident in my abilities."
With that, she took out a document from her bag and handed it to Felix, "This is my resume from these years. Please take a look first before deciding if I am qualified to treat Mr. Jasper Quilliam."
Felix hadn't expected her to be so well-prepared. Though he had scolded Amy earlier, he still wasn't entirely convinced of Chloe. However, her confident demeanor and thorough preparation were enough to persuade anyone. Holding a sense of responsibility toward his grandfather and curiosity about Chloe, Felix reached out to take the document.
However, before he could touch the file, a distinct hand suddenly reached out from the side, intercepting the document midway...
