Chapter 18: From Two Different Worlds
The private room was empty.
After entering, Quintus casually closed the door.
For a moment, the only sound in the room was the quiet exchange of breaths.
Chloe looked around, feeling an unexplained sense of danger, and started to struggle violently. "What do you want? Let go of me!"
The next moment, the man effortlessly pressed her against the wall. Their bodies were almost tightly pressed together. The man's scorching breath sprayed on her ear.
Chloe's struggling stopped instantly. Leaning against the wall, her body stiffened, and even her breathing unconsciously slowed down.
At this distance, any slight increase in her breath could potentially touch the person in front of her.
The room fell into complete silence.
Chloe gritted her teeth, her mind in chaos. No matter how much time passed, the oppressive feeling this man gave her remained equally strong. However, their relationship had long since changed.
Chloe forcefully pinched her palm, compelling herself to calm down. They were already divorced! She and Quintus, now, had absolutely no connection! They were from two different worlds!
Thinking of this, she took a deep breath and calmly spoke, "Quintus, let go of me. If you have something to say, just say it."
Hearing her indifferent tone, Quintus was momentarily stunned. After a moment, he took a step back but still didn't release her.
Chloe breathed a sigh of relief, her expression becoming more composed.
"Don't you have anything to say to me?" Quintus noticed the change in her expression, his eyes narrowing slightly.
Perhaps because she had let go, Chloe, upon hearing this, didn't have much reaction. She distantly replied, "Mr. Ellington, we've been divorced for six years. It seems... there's nothing much for us to talk about."
As she finished speaking, Quintus forcefully gripped Chloe's chin.
Forced to lift her eyes, she met the man's gaze.
"What do you call me?" The anger in Quintus's eyes was about to burst out.
Chloe endured the pain, looked away, and remained silent.
Seeing her silent demeanor, Quintus's anger intensified.
Mr. Ellington? That title felt truly unfamiliar!
Well, it had been six years! Hadn't this woman always been so heartless? Heartless enough to abandon even her own daughter, treating her like a stranger! No one was more heartless than her!
"Why pretend to be a stranger in front of me?" Quintus tightened his grip on her.
Chloe winced in pain, her brows furrowed as she met his gaze with resistance.
Quintus sarcastically curled his lips. "Weren't you the one who once professed love and affection for me? Now you act like a stranger? Have you forgotten what you did to me back then? You might have forgotten, but I haven't!"
Surprised that he would bring up events from six years ago, Chloe was momentarily stunned.
How could she forget that night?
That night, she had approached him almost like a sacrificial offering, all for the sake of a little tenderness.
Thinking about her feelings at that time, Chloe's heart turned slightly cold. The hand hanging by her side clenched into a fist, and she spoke without showing any weakness, "I remember. So what? Mr. Ellington, do you now feel like you've been wronged and want to take revenge? What do you want from me?"
The anger surrounding Quintus intensified, and the pressure in the private room became ominously low.
The pain in her jaw became increasingly evident, but Chloe persisted, calmly finishing her words, "To be honest, that night, you were unconscious, and I didn't feel anything either. Thinking about it now, it was nothing special. But I did take advantage of you, so if you want compensation, I won't say no."
Great, after all these years, this woman knew exactly what words would provoke him. Quintus dangerously narrowed his eyes.
That night, he indeed had no consciousness, and he couldn't remember the specifics. But with Chloe's tone like this, any man would be angered.
After a few seconds of silence, he lifted Chloe's chin and said in a chilling tone, "Nothing special? Since it led you to such a misunderstanding, I don't mind providing you with the service again."
A hint of panic flashed in Chloe's eyes as she watched the man lean in. She tried to evade, but there was still no way out.
