Chapter 40: Never Thought of Acknowledging Her
Quintus's expression darkened even more as he said, "What do you have to say to her? In the future, it's best to act like you don't know her at all and avoid any contact."
Since that woman didn't intend to acknowledge their daughter, he might as well comply with her wishes!
Grace was startled by her Daddy's tone, hesitated for a few seconds, and reluctantly pouted before writing on her notebook, "Why?"
Without waiting for Quintus's response, she quickly added, "I really like her. She's very kind and gentle to me. I want to be with her!"
The straightforward expression of affection from the little girl made Quintus feel a pang of heartache. However, he had to face reality with an expressionless tone, "Because she already has her own children and doesn't need an additional one."
Upon hearing this, confusion filled Grace's eyes. She knew about the two little brothers, but the pretty lady was still very kind to her. However, it seemed that Daddy really disliked the lady.
Grace could only feel disappointed.
Seeing her quiet, Quintus instructed his assistant, started the car, and left the Quilliam family mansion.
On the way, his clothes were tugged at again.
Quintus frowned and looked over.
"Where is my Mommy?" Grace looked at him with a hint of confusion, feeling a bit wronged.
The beautiful lady was the Mommy of the two little brothers, so Grace couldn't get close to her. Then, where was her own Mommy?
This line of text stabbed Quintus's eyes sharply, and he almost awkwardly withdrew his gaze, unsure of how to respond for a moment.
Grace was asking him where her Mommy was. He indeed knew the answer. But how could he tell her this cruel reality? That woman had already built a new family, and even with her biological daughter right in front of her, she had never considered acknowledging her.
The more he thought about it, the more unpleasant his expression became, and he remained silent for quite some time.
Grace had been watching him eagerly all the while.
After a while, Quintus gritted his teeth fiercely, displeased, and said, "I don't know. I don't know where she is, and you shouldn't ask this question anymore! Having a Daddy is enough for you; you don't need a Mommy!"
As his words fell, Grace stared at Quintus for a few seconds, then slowly closed her notebook and lowered her head without saying a word. They didn't speak again until they returned home.
In the Quilliam family mansion.
After Quintus left, Chloe's mood was noticeably off. Felix noticed, but didn't expose it. He led her downstairs, chatting about various topics while having coffee. At a glance, the atmosphere between the two seemed fine.
After being dismissed by Quintus, Amy returned to her room. Now, coming out to check the situation, she wanted to see how things were. Seeing her brother sitting on the sofa with Chloe, Amy let out a subtle, almost imperceptible, cold hum. From the beginning, she never believed this woman had any skills. Now was no different.
Chloe noticed Amy's disdainful attitude but had no interest in dealing with her. She treated her as if she didn't exist.
As the hour approached, Chloe was the first to stop the conversation. "It's time; we can remove the needles now." With that, she got up and went upstairs. Felix quickly followed.
Amy also stood up suspiciously and followed suit. She didn't trust this woman, but when it came to her grandfather's condition, she still cared. Moreover, she wanted to see if this woman really had the skills she claimed!
