Chapter 8: Still Holding a Grudge Against Her
"Mommy, who is that Quintus? Why do we have to avoid him?" Seeing Mommy in a distracted state, Daniel and Leo shook her hand and asked knowingly.
Chloe slowly came back to her senses, patting their heads and smiling nonchalantly, "He's not an important person, just someone Mommy had a little disagreement with before. You two, if you ever hear this name again, make sure to stay away, okay?"
The two little ones obediently nodded, "Okay, Mommy."
Waiting for Mommy to divert her gaze, the two exchanged a glance, their big eyes filled with curiosity. What exactly happened between Mommy and Daddy in the past? It seemed like there was some misunderstanding!
Chloe concerned about the situation with Elene. However, the voices of the two little ones resounded again.
"Mommy, we hurried away just now. If that person becomes suspicious and checks the monitoring, it's easy for him to find us," Daniel kindly reminded.
A hint of panic flashed in Chloe's eyes, "Oh no, I forgot about that. What should we do?"
She was so focused on running away that she completely forgot about the restaurant's monitoring. Quintus might be on his way here with his people by now. Thinking of this possibility, she even had the impulse to take the two little ones and go straight back home.
Seeing Mommy in a flustered state, the two little ones amusingly turned their heads away until the corners of their mouths eased down, then turned back to reassure her.
"Mommy, don't worry, I'll handle it," saying this, Leo took the laptop from the car and deftly maneuvered the keyboard. In no time, they hacked into the restaurant's monitoring system, completely wiping out any footage related to them.
"All done!" After erasing the monitoring, Leo looked up, her eyes sparkling as she gazed at Mommy, wearing an expression begging for praise.
Chloe let out a long sigh of relief, pulling the two little ones into her arms, "Thank you for solving a big problem!"
Knowing Chloe was still anxious, the two little ones obediently let her hold them for a while.
When Chloe finally released them, Leo asked, "Mommy, should we leave now, or wait for Elene to come out?"
Chloe had calmed down by now, looking at the empty entrance of the parking lot, "Let's wait a little longer."
The two little ones nodded obediently.
Meanwhile, in the restaurant's private room.
Quintus, faced with the unyielding woman before him, unable to extract any information, suppressed the surge of anger within him and said indifferently, "Sorry, I was impulsive just now. Thank you for helping me find my daughter. We'll leave now and not disturb your dinner with your friends."
After speaking, he turned his gaze to the little girl at the table, "Grace, come over."
The little girl pouted reluctantly and then politely bowed to Elene. She walked confidently away from her father towards the exit.
Quintus raised an eyebrow, not saying much. He followed behind Grace.
Exiting the restaurant, Quintus reached out to pick Grace up, but she dodged with a disgruntled huff. Seeing this, Hudson quickly stepped forward and lifted her.
The car started slowly. Quintus sat in the back seat, stretching his arm to pick up his daughter and place her on his lap. Grace had no escape, like a doll being held by him. She pouted and refused to look at him.
"Tell Daddy, besides that lady just now, was there another lady with you?" Quintus asked gently.
The little girl glanced at him, recalling that the pretty lady left because of him, which made her even more upset. Seeing her sulking, Quintus playfully pinched her little cheek, "You ran away from home, and Daddy didn't even scold you. Yet, you're the one pouting first? Do you know how worried Daddy was? Tell Daddy, why did you run away from home?"
The little girl avoided his big hand and turned her head away, ignoring him. She seemed quite angry.
Quintus helplessly smiled, finding it challenging to deal with his little girl. "It's okay if you don't want to talk. Daddy won't force you, but promise Daddy, next time, you can't run away from home!"
After saying that, he looked up at Hudson in the front seat and instructed calmly, "Check the monitoring footage of that restaurant."
It seemed like he hadn't given up yet!
Hudson could only comply, "Alright, sir!"
