Chapter 60: That Man Deserved to Die
Quintus stared at the two indignant little ones in front of him, his brow furrowed slightly.
It was clearly the boys accusing him, but for some reason, seeing them like this, he felt somewhat uncomfortable in his heart, and even had a hint of inexplicable guilt.
Chloe held Grace in her arms. When she suddenly heard her two little ones saying such words, she first felt stunned, and then her heart began to ache densely.
She thought, fortunately, the two little ones still didn't know that the man in front of them was their biological father. If they knew, they would probably be even sadder...
Quintus remained silent for a long time, apologetically averting his gaze from the two little ones, "Sorry, I didn't see you as bad people, just felt... since you already have your own lives, having further contact with your mommy's ex-husband is not very appropriate. If your daddy knew, he would feel uncomfortable."
Upon hearing this, Chloe and the two little ones were stunned.
The two little ones looked at each other in surprise, and then realized belatedly that daddy still didn't know their relationship.
Leo denied straightaway, "It's okay, we don't have a daddy!"
Chloe was shocked one after another by their words. Hearing her youngest son say these words now, her heart couldn't help but skip a beat. She wanted to stop him, but it was already too late.
She could only nervously wait for Quintus's reaction.
Suspicion gradually arose in the man's eyes. The words of the little guy, combined with the photos he had just seen, felt strange no matter how he thought about it.
"Where's your daddy? What do you mean, no daddy?" he asked.
Leo looked at the man in front of him, who wore a puzzled expression, and hinted, "Daddy doesn't want us anymore. He abandoned my mommy and doesn't like us. We've always depended on mommy for everything, and we've never seen him."
Upon hearing the little guy's response, Quintus's brow furrowed sharply, his eyes fixed on Chloe, emotions swirling in his eyes. All these years, this woman had been raising the two children alone. He couldn't imagine how they had managed to get by all these years. And her resume abroad was so impressive. How much hard work had she put in to achieve that level?
That man actually abandoned them like this! He deserved to die!
Chloe noticed the intense emotions mixed in the man's gaze and could even guess what he was about to say next.
Before he could speak again, Chloe lowered her gaze slightly, concealing all the emotions in her eyes, and casually interrupted their conversation, "Alright, Grace has stopped crying. You should go back now, and I need to get back to work."
With that, she released the little girl in her arms, patting her head gently and saying softly, "Be good and go back with daddy. Come play with the twins next time."
Grace, reassured by her promise, smiled after just crying moments ago. She nodded obediently and walked back to her daddy's side.
Quintus's eyes darkened slightly, sensing that she didn't want to dwell on the previous topic, so he didn't press further.
Seeing Grace coming over with red-rimmed eyes, he silently stroked her head and his tone softened, "Say goodbye."
Grace raised her hand and waved to Chloe and the two little ones. The three of them waved back.
Finally, Quintus nodded slightly to Chloe, "I'll take her back now. Bye."
Before Chloe could react, he turned and left with Grace.
