Chapter 50: Having a Dispute with Him
On the way back home, Grace was still sulking. She ignored Daddy following behind her, went straight upstairs, and locked the door in a huff.
Mirana stood at the door, observing the sulky Grace. She also noticed Quintus walking expressionlessly behind. It was evident that these two were having another disagreement.
"Mr. Ellington, why is Grace angry?" Hearing the banging on the door upstairs, Mirana looked at Quintus with concern.
Quintus, thinking about the reason for Grace's anger towards him, responded coldly, "It's nothing, just throwing a tantrum at me. Keep an eye on her."
Mirana nodded routinely, "Alright."
For some reason, Grace rarely showed her temper, but she always seemed to get into disagreements with Quintus.
Considering Quintus's temperament, he wasn't the type to placate someone. In the end, the house still needed a lady.
Despite Grace being upset with Quintus, she obediently opened the door when Mirana knocked.
"Grace, I bring some tasty food." Mirana entered with a tray of food, all of Grace's favorites arranged on it.
Grace had little appetite, sitting listlessly at the table. She took a few bites, then pushed the plate away.
Witnessing this, Mirana couldn't help feeling sorry for her. However, it was their father-daughter matter, and she didn't want to intrude. She took away the plate, and later in the evening, she brought Grace in for a bath.
When she finished tidying up the bathroom and came out, she saw Grace lying on the bed, a laptop in front of her. With a serious expression, she was typing away on the keyboard, deeply engrossed in whatever she was doing. Mirana, accustomed to Grace tapping on the computer, didn't inquire further and left the room.
On the other side, Chloe was still on the way home with the two little ones.
Daniel and Leo sat quietly in the back, occasionally exchanging glances and checking Mommy's expression through the rearview mirror. They weren't sure what had happened at the kindergarten just now. Although Mommy said she was fine, both of them could sense that she was not in a good mood.
"Mommy, we made greeting cards today at the kindergarten! The teacher asked us to make them for our favorite person, and both my brother and I made one for you!" Leo said as he secretly signaled to his brother.
Daniel understood, nodded, and continued, "Mommy, guess what we wrote."
Chloe knew the two little ones wanted to cheer her up and smiled along, nodding, "What did you write?"
As she spoke, she heard the sound of flipping backpacks from behind, followed by Leo's emotionally expressive reading. "My favorite person is Mommy! My mommy is a very amazing doctor! Even though she's always busy with work, my brother and I know that Mommy loves us the most! Mommy is busy saving lives every day, and we think Mommy is great! But we also feel sorry for Mommy and hope she doesn't get too tired. If she gets too tired, we'll feel very sad! I hope Mommy will always be the most beautiful!"
Chloe couldn't help but chuckle, "It's quite lengthy. No wonder your teacher told me your English is very good. And Daniel, what did you write?"
Daniel sat up straight and earnestly said, "Mommy is an amazing doctor, taking care of patients is very hard, and taking care of me and my little brother is also tough. In the future, I want to be as amazing as Mommy! I hope I can grow up quickly, earn money to support the family, so Mommy won't be so tired."
Hearing the words of the two little ones, Chloe felt a softness in her heart. The incident at the kindergarten was pushed aside, "Thank you, my two treasures."
The two little ones glanced at each other, sensing that Mommy's mood seemed to be improving, and both sighed in relief.
