Chapter 54: Does it Hurt?
The two little ones were well-behaved. Although they liked them, they still shook their heads at the little girl since they knew the toys were expensive, "This is too valuable, we can't accept it."
Grace tilted her head and placed the toys beside them, then turned around and wrote on a small notebook, "For my friends. Thanks for helping."
Leo looked at the notebook she was holding, completely puzzled.
Grace didn't write everything down, who knew what she wanted to say?
Daniel was also a bit puzzled at first, but quickly understood, "Are you thanking us for helping you that day?"
Grace nodded vigorously, put the notebook aside, and then handed the toys to them.
Hearing her son's words, Chloe remembered what the kindergarten teacher had mentioned before, that Daniel and Leo had protected Grace that day. But between children, what kind of conflicts could arise? Seeing Grace's expression, it seemed that she still cared a lot about Daniel and Leo's help that day.
"What happened that day?" Chloe asked, gently.
A classmate pushed Grace, causing her to get hurt. Leo and I made that classmate apologize to her and took her to find the teacher," Daniel answered.
Chloe smiled and nodded.
"Mommy, can we accept it?" Daniel felt a bit guilty seeing Grace holding the toys all the time.
Chloe smiled and agreed, "Yes, you can,, and you can also give your own things to her."
Upon hearing mommy's words, the two little ones reached out and took the toy from Grace's hand, saying, 'Thank you. Wait for us, we'll go find gifts for you!'
With that, they hurriedly ran back upstairs, carrying the toys, and rummaged through their room to find the gifts they wanted to give back to the little girl.
In the living room, there were only Chloe and Grace left.
Seeing the little girl's obedient appearance, she couldn't help but express concern, "Does it still hurt from the fall that day?"
At her words, Grace walked over to her and lifted the hand that had been injured that day to show her.
All Chloe could see on the fair little hand was a particularly prominent bruise.
Chloe's face was full of concern. She took the little girl's hand, and carefully inspected it. After confirming that it was just a surface injury, she felt relieved and asked, "Did you put on medicine?"
Grace hesitated for a few seconds, seeing the concerned look of the pretty lady, innocently shook her head.
Chloe felt even more heartbroken. The injury was so obvious, it was impossible for Quintus not to notice, yet he didn't even think to apply medicine to the little girl.
Thinking again about how the little girl would often run away from home, she complained silently in her heart, "Quintus is really too incompetent as a father!"
Grace was unaware of her father's "tarnished reputation", looking at the pretty lady in front of her with anticipation. She thought, "She said I hadn't put on medicine, she should help me with it, right?"
Sensing the little girl's gaze, Chloe snapped out of her thoughts, and gently touched the bruise on the little girl's hand, saying softly, "Wait here, I will get the medicine kit to apply it for you."
Grace's eyes brightened slightly as she nodded vigorously.
Chloe's heart softened completely. She got up, fetched the medicine kit, and carefully massaged the bruised area for Grace. After all, she was a doctor and a woman. Compared to Quintus, she was much more attentive and her touch was just right.
"Does it hurt?" she asked, rubbing the bruise gently while watching the little girl's reaction.
Grace shook her head and lowered her gaze to watch the pretty lady gently massaging her injured hand. She thought, "Her hands are so beautiful. Moreover, her movements are much gentler than daddy's, I can't feel any pain at all. I like the pretty lady even more now!"
