Chapter 29: Met Quintus Again
Jasper's condition was quite complex, which explained why even renowned doctors were helpless. Just explaining Jasper's illness took quite a while.
At 6 o'clock in the evening, after finishing work, Chloe went to the Quilliam family mansion alone based on the address provided by Michael.
The door was opened by a middle-aged man, dressed like a butler.
He politely asked, "Hello, may I help you?"
Chloe smiled, "Hello, I'm the doctor who came to see Mr. Jasper Quilliam. I called this afternoon."
The butler, after glancing at her from head to toe, couldn't help but be skeptical of her youth. Could someone so young really handle it? Nevertheless, he didn't show his doubt. After a brief pause, he said, "Please come in." With that, he turned and led Chloe inside.
Chloe noticed the butler's lack of trust, but she paid it no mind. Before curing the patient, she was open to any skepticism.
Following the butler into the courtyard, she was greeted by a garden, giving off an elegant vibe. It was evident that the Quilliam family was indeed an exquisite and affluent household.
The butler gestured for Chloe to sit on the sofa. "We had a guest just now. Mr. Felix Quilliam is accompanying the guest upstairs. I'll inform them, please wait here for a moment."
Chloe nodded, "Thank you."
She then took a seat on the sofa. Shortly after, a servant brought in tea and placed it in front of her.
After a while, Chloe heard footsteps coming from upstairs. Putting down the cup, she stood up and looked toward the staircase.
A young couple descended the stairs gracefully. At first glance, the two looked somewhat similar. The man had handsome features, and the woman was also strikingly beautiful. They seemed to be siblings. As they walked down, they conversed with someone behind them. Presumably, it was the guest the butler had mentioned earlier.
Chloe's gaze followed them all the way. It continued until the person behind the couple revealed their figure.
The man had a tall figure, with strikingly handsome features. He was holding a little girl in his arms, engaged in a conversation with the two people in front. His expression was relaxed.
As if sensing her gaze, the man casually turned his head in her direction. Their eyes met, and Chloe's heart skipped a beat.
Quintus!
She never expected to encounter him here! The memories from that evening flooded back all at once.
Chloe's eyes trembled uncontrollably, almost unable to meet his gaze. She harshly pinched her palm to barely regain her composure.
Taking a deep breath, she feigned nonchalance, shifting her focus to the man and woman in front of her.
On the staircase, Quintus's steps paused, squinting his eyes. He looked at the woman by the sofa, his gaze wandering on her face, as if confirming something. It wasn't until he saw her avert her eyes that his eyes suddenly darkened.
Indeed, it was Chloe! He had thought he was mistaken. However, how could this woman be here? He was slightly puzzled, but he didn't show it on his face.
"What's wrong, Quintus?" The man in front, seeing him stop, turned back with a puzzled expression.
Quintus, hearing this, slowly withdrew his gaze, responding with an expressionless tone, "Nothing."
The man in front nodded in disbelief, and the three of them descended the stairs with brisk steps.
