Chapter 46: Heartache for the Little Girl
Chloe nodded, holding the hands of the two little ones as they walked over and greeted the teacher. As they were about to leave, her gaze involuntarily fell on the little girl.
Seeing the three of them seemingly about to leave, Grace anxiously stood up from the slide, her eyes staring straight at them.
The teacher next to her was afraid she might fall and quickly reached out to support her.
"Is she..." Chloe hesitated for a moment but couldn't help but ask with concern.
The two little ones had already guessed what she wanted to ask and eagerly answered, "She also goes to school here, and she's even in the same class as us! Today, her parents haven't come to pick her up yet, so she's been waiting here with us!"
Chloe nodded, glanced at Grace in front of her, her heart softened, but she didn't intend to stay. After all, the one coming to pick her up soon might be either Quintus or Stella. She didn't want to see either of them again.
However, Grace clearly didn't want her to leave like this. Chloe didn't want to disappoint her, so she touched her head with a smiling expression, "Your Mommy and Daddy should be here soon, I have to leave first, okay? You be a good girl and stay with the teacher while waiting, alright?'
As she finished speaking and was about to leave, Grace grabbed onto her clothes with force. Chloe couldn't help but stop in her tracks, lowering her gaze. Grace was shaking her head persistently, her eyes even slightly reddened.
Seeing Grace like this, Chloe felt a surge of tenderness in her heart, as if her feet were rooted to the ground, making it difficult to walk away.
On the side, the teacher, seeing that Grace was insistent on not letting Chloe leave, sighed helplessly and approached her, saying, "She has been sticking close to Daniel and Leo a lot lately. She has a somewhat withdrawn personality, and usually at school, there aren't any kids willing to play with her. On the first day they entered the class, Daniel and Leo protected her, and perhaps because of that, she has been very dependent on them. Now, seeing that they are about to leave, she might be feeling scared...'"
Hearing about the situation of Grace, Chloe felt an even stronger discomfort. Unexpectedly, Grace was not only mute but also withdrawn. No wonder the teacher had the two little ones waiting on the side. However, thinking about the two people who would appear shortly, she hesitated.
The teacher whispered for a while, but Grace insisted on not letting Chloe go.
After a while, the teacher, somewhat awkwardly, requested, "Jiang Wanwan, are you in a hurry? If not, can we talk? After Daniel and Leo entered the class, I haven't had a chance to talk to you about their situation."
Chloe naturally noticed that the teacher intended to use the names of Daniel and Leo to persuade her to stay with Grace, who also looked at her with a pleading expression.
Meeting the gaze of Grace, Chloe had the refusal on the tip of her tongue, but for some reason, she didn't say it in the end. She swallowed it back and nodded to the teacher.
Seeing her agreement, Grace's eyes sparkled again. She clung to the edge of Chloe's clothes, carefully leaning towards her. From a distance, it looked as if she was snuggling into Chloe's arms.
Sensing her little movements, Chloe didn't stop her, nor did she show any concern. She casually chatted with the teacher about the situation of her two little ones.
