Chapter 28: The Only Chance
Upon learning that she had been manipulated, coupled with the fact that several projects in the institute were still on hold, Chloe felt a bit frustrated. She hadn't expected Stella's hostility towards her to be so intense after six years, to the extent of resorting to such despicable means!
However, now was not the time to vent emotions. She pinched her palm to calm herself, raised her gaze to Michael, and said, "It's okay. If we can't find a solution in Phoenix, we'll reach out to pharmaceutical suppliers in other cities. We're bound to find someone willing to collaborate."
Yet, the costs and time spent would inevitably be higher. Although Chloe didn't explicitly mention it, she was well aware of the challenges this would bring.
"We might not have to go to another city." Michael suddenly thought of something, and his tone became more relaxed.
Upon hearing this, Chloe raised an eyebrow, "Do you think there are other pharmaceutical suppliers in Phoenix we can collaborate with? The small drugstores are certainly not suitable; we need those with a certain scale."
Michael nodded, "I understand. However, for this matter, you might need to personally intervene."
Chloe was even more puzzled.
"I remember you mentioning that you have some knowledge about pharmaceutical suppliers in Phoenix. Do you happen to know about the Quilliam family?" Michael explained, "The Quilliam family has a strong background in pharmaceuticals in Phoenix, and Jasper Quilliam is highly respected. However, his health has deteriorated in recent years, and despite seeking renowned doctors, none have been able to find a solution. They even invited me for a consultation, but I acknowledged my limitations. However, you might have a chance."
"Oh, really?" Chloe understood his implication but still had concerns. "Considering the scale of the Quilliam family, the prices of their pharmaceuticals may not be lower than what we have now."
"Previously, the Quilliam family promised that if someone could cure Jasper Quilliam, they would provide a batch of expensive pharmaceuticals for free. Additionally, in the future, they could purchase pharmaceuticals from each other at half price," Michael replied.
Hearing this, Chloe's eyes lit up, and a heavy burden seemed to lift from her. "Why didn't you mention this earlier?"
Michael chuckled, "I did think about it, but you hadn't arrived yet, and my abilities were insufficient. Eventually, I gave up on the idea, but it just occurred to me recently. I thought you might be able to give it a try. What do you think?"
"Of course, no problem!" Chloe stood up eagerly and urged, "Help me contact the Quilliam family and ask when I can go over."
Seeing her urgency for the institute, Michael's heart stirred. He smiled and agreed, "I'll go now. Wait for me here."
With that, he left the office to make the call. Chloe waited anxiously in the office. Regardless of Jasper's condition, she was determined to do her best to cure him for the sake of the institute.
Shortly after, Michael returned.
"How did it go?" Chloe inquired.
Michael nodded, "Good. The Quilliam family hasn't found a doctor who can treat Jasper Quilliam yet. When they heard about my recommendation, they readily agreed to give it a try."
"When are we going?" Chloe asked.
"Tonight," Michael replied.
Chloe immediately agreed. The timing suited her, and she hoped the sooner, the better.
"Tell me about Jasper Quilliam's symptoms. I want to prepare in advance." Chloe's expression turned serious when it came to treating illnesses.
Michael agreed and began explaining.
