Chapter # 56
Holding some papers in her hands, Zariah was holding the door of her car open, a grimace plastered on her face while waiting outside a shop for a certain person.
'De Villiers! Come, we have to hurry, I want you to record everything."
She groaned, waiting for him as he instructed his men strictly before rushing to her with a grin.
'Okay, okay, give me a moment, here I am,"
'Huff! Finally!" She whined, sharing a chuckle with the man as they hastily left.
'Ah, this is going to be amazing," He beamed.
'I better not miss anything, Amanda is feeling a bit down today or else I would have picked her up too,"
'I hope she is okay,"
'Hmm. And then we could have went on a double date,"
Zariah forced a shaky smile as they left, hands gripped the papers so rigidly that they were torn.
De Villiers noticed and commented, 'Are you feeling anxious? Is everything alright?"
'Huh? Y-Yeah,"
They were nearing the hospital and stopped a signal, humming to himself, De Villiers was tapping his fingers on the steering wheel.
Soon he noticed movements from her side that made him shrink his eyes towards the woman who lowered her gaze out of shame.
The grin on his face gradually died, eyes stopping at her free hand where the sound of a gun came.
'May I know what you are doing, Zariah?" He asked dominantly.
Eyes darting to her hand that was holding a gun after making a miserable face.
'... I am sorry, De Villiers,"
'Don't lift it up now."
To her weak whisper, he exhaled, affixing his eyes on the road and mixed his front mirror, features stoic. Observing the situation, he told her calmly,
'The camera on the right signal is in our direction and a cop behind along with the one following our trails, which I believed you tagged along,"
'When did you…?"
Taken aback for someone who had always attacked head on.
Not cared about her life or the amount of injuries she could possibly receive and fought until her target was eliminated- how she was made.
She was crazy after all.
De Villiers smirked, sparing her a prideful glance for taking him lightly.
'Do you think I have reached this position of an undefeated sniper for naught?"
Biting her bottom lip nervously, her gaze averted, hiding the gun as he gave her shoulder a pat, going along with her.
'Where?"
Inhaling sharply, with a disheartening sensation, she told him the place as he drove there.
His expressions were gentle all the time while her chest was flaring from inside, curling the papers in the ball and throwing them away sorrowfully.
'Why did you do that?"
'It doesn't matter anymore. There goes my dream of marriage,"
He sighed, stopping right at the location she instructed, 'No one's dream is going anywhere."
Getting out, he rested his hand in his pockets as Zariah pointed her gun at his head. He was the second person for whom her hands trembled.
Tears collected, feeling terrible for pointing her gun at him as all the moments of their childhood flashed.
How all four of them used to live together, enjoying teenage, having fun and today-
Alessandra dead, a fucked up relationship, and in that unsavory state. De Villiers flashed her a glare of ‘not do anything reckless' and remained collected.
'So who-"
And then the worst possible choice to work with in rivalry or even selfishness arrived with thirty men for two people, not trusting them.
The second De Villiers' eyes fell on Zoran, his jaw dropped. He expected but never to this extent and returned the disappointed look.
'Oh, you have got to be kidding me, Zariah, are you out of your fucking mind?"
'I am sorry,"
She repeated sadly, unable to look into his eyes anymore while holding the gun up to his head, unwillingly.
'You have done a great job, Zariah." Zoran praised, dangerous hazel eyes enjoying the sight, grinning hysterically, repulsing both of them.
'You get Nathaniel and I get the one he adores the most, his childhood and first friend, De Villiers,"
'If he came to know you joined hands with Zoran, his pride in you will break. How can you do this after witnessing his hatred?" De Villiers whispered to her.
'It was long before, I was not in my right senses, I didn't know the extremity of it," She whispered back affixing her glare on Zoran.
'Here you go, Zoran, as per our deal. De Villiers," She enunciated angrily.
Whose men surrounded them and ten more men stood on top of the warehouse, ensuring the best won't leave alive.
'Dammit, like hell I will die here without holding my baby," De Villiers muttered, only caring about that.
'Don't dream high. My whole lineage, my parents, siblings, uncle, auntie, cousins. You killed them all. Don't I deserve to take one?"
Zoran smirked vilely, reflecting all the hatred and wrath in his heart.
'You mean one more? Did your worthless brain forget you murdered her family?"
The second this mock escaped from De Villiers' lips, Zoran's amusement died. He glanced at Zariah who held De Villiers and back to his men that had created a situation for his advantage.
And considering it his chance, without a warning, he broke his deal and shot Zariah in the leg.
'Argh, fuck!"
She stumbled as three men came, kicking the gun away and five each pointed guns at them.
'What the-"
They both were deadly and taking precaution, Zoran trapped them in his web perfectly. Zariah scowled, holding her bleeding leg as De Villiers went.
'What the hell are you doing to her? Didn't you say you want me?"
Not listening to him, four men dragged De Villiers back who was about to fight back until Zoran pointed his finger at Zariah who was glaring at him.
'Motherfucker-"
'Shut up, bitch!"
Before she could hiss, he kicked her hard, pushing her on the ground.
'Fight again and I-"
'Okay, okay, I am not,"
Giving up fighting instantly when they were hurting her for his actions, putting his hands in the air before shifting to his knees as a sign of surrendering.
He had witnessed the anguish of his friend, he was there, always.
He couldn't allow the pain of the one he adored the most, if anything happened to Zariah, De Villiers won't be able to forgive himself.
'Don't you think I know what a beast and killing machine this woman is? And how endlessly she is devoted to her fucking lover."
Stepping over her shot down leg, earning a painful scream from her.
The tear she held back rolled down, curling like a ball to resist the impact from his attack.
'Don't hurt her, asshole!" De Villiers shouted worriedly.
'Obviously she was going to break you out of here, this was all a show. But, I won't let it, it won't be a show anymore,"
'What the hell are you-"
'I have been your prisoner for years, I know how you do things. Now you will pay,"
Inhaling, he took a deep breath and knocked them out before ordering his men, following the same destructive path.
'Take both of them away,"
Not giving them a moment to register, he was determined to ravage them beyond repair, giving Nathaniel a scar that would sting for eternity.
'Let Nathaniel's pride on his lover break,"
